- Just over two weeks ago, 20-year-old Jimi Olubunmi-Adewole tragically lost his life while trying to rescue a woman from the River Thames. His death has been met with an outpouring of admiration, with many calling for him to be honoured for his remarkable bravery. But he wasn't alone that night. Alongside him was Joaquín García - who also put his life on the line to save a stranger. Now wracked with survivor’s guilt, Joaquin will be opening up about his memories of the terrifying evening, as well as sharing his hopes that Jimi will receive a posthumous honour.

unfortunately central cee kylie jenner and cardi b are amongst the "icons" and "great influences" for the modern world that would be more recognised and taken seriously. thats how sad how society has become...its a sad fact that especially the youth of nowadays are brainwashed to the core qith filth. good job these two young lads were different. most would have taken their phomes out n started recording n thinking how many hits their going to get on youtube.

Yes, and Jimi's best friend Bernard too- he lost his friend in the blink of an eye, and the whole situation must be equally confounding for Joaquin too- I met someone exactly four weeks to the day he passed away and I remember would a profound effect it had on me, the thought that I had met someone at the very end of their life....For Joaquin it was literally a case of he was there one minute and gone the next...must be so shocking for him to think.
Brave man especially risking his life for a random stranger, rare breed need more in world like that dude...

What a lovely man. Interview was carried out so perfectly. So devastated for Jimi's family - what a lovely boy he looked to be. Of course they must be honoured. The terrible thing is he shouldn't have died for someone that didn't want to live. Jimi will be eternally remembered now as a Hero.

My great grandad was knighted by king George for doing this- jumping in a river to save someone. These men deserve the same.

Not to be negative but if my son jumped in a river in the middle of the night in an attempt to save a girl who literally intenionally jumped in I would be very dissapointed. Her life is not more valuable than his
That disappointment probably wouldn’t last, since another life was saved & his decision was the right one. They should be proud with their parenting- since he didn’t even think twice about valuing someone else’s life over his own
I feel so sorry for Joaquin...he looks so sad. He is a hero, alongside Jimi who did not jump in the Thames and did not die in vain, because their actions done what Jimi set out to do...save the girl! His loss will forever be set in stone as recognition of a true hero ❣

H and P managed this difficult interview very well. A very hard job to do. This poor young man will never get over it.
This has really touched me- Jimi and Joaquin are both heroes...I'm sure the lady they were trying to save will have survivors guilt, but the biggest tribute she can pay to Jimi is to get the help she needs and live her life so that it really counts, and not try to do this again...so that he did not die in vain.

This man is really humble.
This interview was carried out so respectfully, carefully and compassionately. Philip and Holly also work well together. They both have high emotional intelligence, and it shows. Especially with people describing traumatic experiences. They guide and don't dominate, and give the guest space and time to process the question and express themselves. Re-living these experiences while answering questions, very much supported and validated by Phillip and Holly, would be part of the healing process for their guests.
Part of being in a safe space to express themselves in front of an audience, is that Philip and Holly don't push beyond their guests' boundaries to sensationalise.
Both would be excellent counsellors, but I appreciate that they are also mindful of their audience, and the boundaries of T.V. viewing too. They do a lot of quick thinking, while also responding genuinely. I have seen many interviewers from many different countries, and I believe Philip and Holly are the best. Parkinson and Oprah don't deserve nearly much praise as Phillip and Holly as interviewers, in my opinion! Phillip and Holly are articulate and focused on so much more than celebrity life! They are about sharing human experiences; some we can relate to, and others we can't at all. For guests and viewers alike, they provide a sense of security with their expertise.
They also provide education, especially about understanding and including differences, for their audiences. They teach by role modelling fantastic communication skills and compassion. These skills are useful in all our relationships.
The fact that nearly all the comments here are about the guest, and the incident, and further discussions around this topic, is a testament to Philip and Holly not dominating or impossing themselves into the discussion. Unlike most interviewers, they don't have to be at the center of attention. Instead they support and highlight the narrative, and the guest.
I had confidence that Philip and Holly would be respectful and sensitive, but this interview exceeded my expectations, it was so well done! I am sure Phillip and Holly have done terrible interviews, at some time, but I haven't seen one yet!

Regardless of what the girls story was why she was already in the water the fact that these men made the decision that would either be life or death to save a stranger, truly inspirational and I hope the man who sadly passed away does truly peacefully rest and his family to be left to grief and come round in there own time 🙏🏻

Every one of these heroes deserve so much respect for their actions - Jimi is in my heart and his story is so tragic - his death really makes me question the notion of justice as it seems totally devoid in this case
I couldn't imagine being out one day seeing a woman in the river and saying I'm gonna help her just having pure intent in your heart and not really considering that you could lose your life in the process. And your main concern being someone else's life and not your own. These are two truly selfless people.

They are true heroes. People can only imagine, but I myself have a hero that saved me from drowning. The cold water took my ability to breathe away. I was completely dependent on him for my life. Being in that situation is very difficult to come to terms with alone. Loosing Jimmy is at it’s least heart breaking. I’m beyond happy and grateful to the community for recognizing these hero’s. Jimmy’s life is the highest tribute to the meaning of life and spiritual condition. Looking at him, one can see his light and forever grieve his sacrifice. Joaquin life will be a constant reminder of the greatest risk of life for humanity. We only pray to be near the pinnacle of divine that these two gentlemen have shown us all. God bless you and all you love. 💜🙏🏻
I so hope they both get medals but the truth is I'm sure he would even have a hard time looking at since Jimmy didn't make it. I can't even imagine the guilt the girl has since she was trying to commit suicide and then changed her mind. Such a tragic loss. They are both brave and I sure do hope that this man gets some help if he needs it and the lady and whoever else family or witnesses to that ordeal. My heart goes out to Jimmy's family.

Our city is usually a cold selfish city so this tragic young man and his accomplice are truly amazing souls. What a powerful story of courage and loss in a City full of voyeuristic bystanders.
