    Hi what’s the maximal frame rate. Can it go to 240 fps. I wanted to Film in slow motion? But I think this model doesn’t have that feature?

      I think that 60fps is the max: www.sony.com/electronics/support/compact-cameras-dsc-rx-series/dsc-rx100/specifications

    Fantastic, simple & clear. Many thanks for this tutorial. I never could work out how to use Manual so just used the other settings (A/S). I've just picked up my Sony RX100 II again & really wanted to use M & this tutorial was perfect.

    Does anyone has maybe rx100m2? In M there is auto iso disabled, in rx100m3 it's avaliable to choose. Any idea why is it so?

    Such an amazing tutorial. I was wondering about changing the ISO mode in Manual mode and you helped me so much in figuring out that and overall manual mode. All the best wishes for your channel :)

    2:15 What would be the best shutter speed for getting every small detail on a 2m painting? Some online galleries have photographs of their paintings where you can see every brushstroke. And one photograph is about ten MB in size.

    • @frederikboving
      @frederikboving  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure there is an optimal shutter speed- provided the camera is still (tripod) I guess any shutter speed that doesn't overexpose the image will do. I am no expert when it comes to photographs of paintings but would think the right light would be more important than shutter speed or megapixels.

    I prefer manual focusing and that changes the way you change aperture

    Thanks for the video. But what if I'm in manual mode and I'm also using manual focus - then the focus ring isn't available to change the aperture/f stop. How do I control f stop in manual mode with manual focus turned on?

    • @frederikboving
      @frederikboving  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David, I'm on vacation and do not have the camera with me but my guess is that the menu system would give you some options. It is not as cumbersome as it sounds - the function button should give you quick access.

      @@frederikboving Thanks Frederik, I acutally solved it - you just press on the bottom part of the wheel and it swaps between fstop and shutter speed. Voila! Thanks

    I'm looking at going stormchasing next year and want a easy to use camera,would you recommend this one?

    • @frederikboving
      @frederikboving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Graham, yes, I can recommend it. It has two really good auto modes, a normal one and then one where it uses HDR to optimize the picture quality. It is also a compact camera which I guess is a good thing if you want to go stormchasing and therefore want to travel light. One thing that could be the limitation of this camera is its zoom range. I am not sure how close you want to get to whatever it is you chase specifically, but I would imagine that if it is a tornado, then keeping some distance is key. And then zooming becomes important. When I was new to landscape photography, I thought that I wanted to take in the entire landscape and hence a short lens would be key. But instead I found that zooming in in many cases was the right thing to do to get the max effect. That is where this camera has its limitations. The later models have more zoom, but they are also much more expensive. You can see here: cameradecision.com/compare/Sony-Cyber-shot-DSC-RX100-III-vs-Sony-Cyber-shot-DSC-RX100-VI that the mark 6 has a 200 mm zoom compared to the 70mm of the mark 3. That is quite a difference! Hope this helps!

      @@frederikboving thanks for the advice.Your right about it being as an asset. My friend in the US who invited over and is a photographer takes a DSLR and a compact also said a compact is good because sometimes you don't get the chance to set the tripod etc and most compacts have the manual shutter speed option is good for lightning.

    Thanks for the video. Very informative. I'm considering getting an RX100 M3 as they can be picked up for great prices now 2nd hand. However, I've read that the MK3 "does not have an option to set the minimum shutter speed when using Auto ISO". Could you please confirm if this is correct? For example, in Manual mode, can you set ISO to AUTO and then still change the shutter speed? (I know you can do this in the RX100 M4). And how about the other modes, especially A (Aperture Priority) and S (Shutter Priority)? If you could clarify this for me, I'd really appreciate it. I'd like an RX100 M3, but not being able to set the shutter speed in AUTO ISO would be a deal-breaker for me. Thank you!
