There were numerous Easter Eggs saying 'Vote Saxon' in previous episodes although they weren't too obvious. Sort of like the 'Bad Wolf' signs in Series 1.
There's even one in Torchwood series 1 I believe. The earliest one is in Love and Monsters.

I love The Master, he's the equal to The Doctor as far as genius and bat shit crazy goes, but evil - I don't think it's possible for him to be too camp or over the top
the paradox machine allows the master to mess with as many events in time as he wants without it ripping the universe apart.
Failwhale34 that was so MUCH better with reacting with the pausing to talk about major stuff here and there. It allowed us the reaction without you missing stuff due to talking like in earlier episodes :) Keep up the good work.

11:35 yeah, the bullets were hitting the back seat, a cleaver way to make it more realistic... instead of the bullets bouncing off a compact car's window.... Put Jack on that side of the car and have him come back to life after being the only one to be hit. Even have him lean in as a shield, the dude's been fighting in wars and against aliens for 100's of years he most definitely will have taken advantage of his immortality to save people he is fighting with.
Correction Tennant does less smiling than Eccleston after Rose is gone.

Having watched every episode with the first Master and third Doctor, I can say...yeah, that's very close to accurate. There's definitely an undertone of dangerously unstable ex boyfriend who shows his "affection" in all the wrong ways and makes a lot of very stupid decisions out of some confused feeling of wanting to both get back together and get revenge for splitting up in the first place. His obsession with the Doctor is similar to the Joker's obsession with Batman, which is also a very "you belong with me so I must destroy everything you care about" dynamic.

And not to mention how he stalked The Doctor in classic for no reason... Definitely Joker and Batman, only on cosmic scale.
That's what I was pretty much talking about. It was like they went on a few dates and now he can't stop thinking about the Doctor and when he finds out the Doctor is stuck on Earth he's like "Oh, he must be so bored, I'll just make sure all the problems come to him! Then he'll *have* to take me back!" It's not literally in the text, of course, but the metaphor works whether intentional or not.

John simm is the most underrated actor ever. Life on Mars is one of my favourite tv series. He is the most versatile performer. From characters as shy and polite and kind as Sam Tyler in life on mars to people as sadistic, crazy and plain scary as the master. Its mad how good he is

Could someone explain to me how the Saxon thing was happening before the masters return in the utopia episode because if he returned during utopia that would contradict any thing in the past that we have seen
The Master travels back about 8 months before where the doctor and gang travel to. The rest of the season took place after the master had arrived back on earth, but before the doctor came back.
Another reference to consider, Legends of Tomorrow, time ship.
