I found a manufacturer of brass returns for my 7.3 non turbo IDI. They look simply amazing. My question is they have the return nipples in the center. Mine are on the edge. Does it matter? It isn't a matter of room. I have plenty. I believe the function is still the same.
Just try to pass on what I learn to others so they can take on the same projects. Appreciate the comment. Going to try focusing the chanel more on idi diesels rather than so many random projects.

I have a 86 F-250 6.9 with 81,000 miles. Wish I had your trouble shooting knowledge! It's in the shop getting a new glow plug controller and new glow plugs. My water separator is the old metal one with a pull pin. It needs to be replaced but for now I connected the fuel lines together. Any suggestions for a new water separator?
Hi , I have a issue with my wiring for glow plug controller and injection pump. So I have the two yellow wires on the glow plug controller, showing constant hot, but when I turn ignition switch to on position, that’s still the only constant hot I get is the two yellow wires. Now at the injection pump , I have no power to any of the selenoids. But when I connect a jumper wire directly from the battery to the injection pump fuel shut off selenoid, then I get power to my glow plugs as well. I also have a glow plug switch wired in exactly the way you do on your 7.3 Idi video. I figure I’m loosing power somewhere in the harness. So my first question since the fuel filter has been eliminated can I use the fuel heater wire to provide a hot to the injection pump. Second question do the cold advance selenoid and fast idle selenoid get same power as the fuel shut off selenoid. Sorry for the block of text but I just can’t seem to figure it out, I did see that when I put the jumper wire on the wire for the shutoff selenoid has power all the way to the connector leading out of the fuse box, but nothing after that. Could it be that connector?
I would assume your key switch is bad, or a connector in fuse box, somewhere the power is not getting through. All the engine keyed power comes through the same wire, splits to glow plug controller, fuel shut off solonoid, temp sensor which controls high idle and timing advance, and fuel heater. It is same keyed power that is just spliced inside engine harness and feeds it all. Here is a video of dissecting a engine harness so you can see what I mean. th-cam.com/video/vRd5GhjX71A/w-d-xo.html
I have the same problem in my 1991 7.3 idi. I was driving it last Sunday and it decided to lose power. No power to injection pump, and I noticed my WTS light would not come on in the cab. So I hot wired the injection pump, and was able to drive it home. Since I’ve been working on it at home, I have found that my glow plug harness was bad, so I fixed that and installed a new one, still no glow plugs. So I ordered a new controller, (which it probably needed anyways), and I replaced that. Still nothing. it will crank but it won’t start. I have tested for continuity for the flow plug post on the controller, and it’s there (cycles on/off). There is also continuity on the wires that lead to the injection pump. I’m stumped here and new to diesels. Let me know if you figured out the issue @bop4527.
The glow plug controler is a piece of crap i learned it all the hard way by burning out a couple sets of glow plugs that was about 100 thousand miles ago I don't like to hold them on much more than five sconds and ive never burned out another glow plug
God bless you my friend you helped me out 👍 a lot keep up good work 😁
Loved the video man. Especially your message at the end. Wish I had your skill to fix my IDI. I'm having a similar glow plug problem
You can do it!

Loving your channel, I just subscribed. I'm about ready now to trace down wiring for my glow plug relay, fuel shut off and trans position sensor.
Thanks for checking out my chanel. Hope you are learning some stuff from the information I share. Good luck with your project, and God bless.
