    I would love you to do a whole episode on ROSEMARY!!! It is hands down my favorite ingredient to use. I love it's fragrance, I love it's piney, citrusy deliciousness. It's fantastic in cocktails, syrups, pastas, meat dishes, takes grilled cheese to the next level, sauces, salads, and desserts!! It's versatile and F*@&ING delicious!!!

    Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

    Indeed wonderful video Jamie, I can't grow tomatoes as I have tons of possums in Sydney. :(
    Would like to see your guys take on Silverbeet. I use the stem, by cooking it first. Fiddly buggers? :)

    My wife's Mom is the queen of Pete. She grows the most wonderful tomatoes and gives them to us, and I have to find ways to use them up. Salads, salsa, and I think putting them up for other recipes. Fresh is way better than them nasty salted can tomatoes. Thanks for the tips and I appreciate any suggestions you have to use these tomatoes.

    I live in Uruguay (since May of 2014) and I've discovered that in my town (Salto, NW UY) there is very little diversity in menu items offered by most of the popular restaurants. There was a Mexican take-out but they closed shop and a sushi place was here, but only for a short time. If I were able, I'd open an eatery offering other versions of Uruguayan ingredients. I dearly miss hot and spicy foods (Mexican, Indian) and vegetarian fare (menus here are loaded with meat and eggs). How would you "spice up" the Uruguayan diet? Uruguayan meals remind me of Cuban fare, though it's not the same, just, very replicated/typical. Take note - certain ingredients are not available in raw form, such as turmeric root and other "exotic" foods due to agricultural import restrictions.

    You can thank the native Americans for the tomato, not the Spaniards. The native Americans had already domesticated and bred them before the Spanish arrived.

    Tomatoes originate in Mexico and they refer to them by two different names. Tomate (tomato) which are when green, and Jitomate when it turns red. Green tomatoes are widely used in mexican cooking.

    I have never liked raw tomatoes, i just can't bear the tang, they taste almost metallic to me. They're such a cool easy to grow veg/fruit though i really want to learn to like them, can you recommend a way or recipe that leaves them raw but negates the metallic taste?

    • @piajensen5591
      @piajensen5591 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had access to and grown many tomatoes - not all taste the same. Some are less acidic and sweeter - soil type, organic vs. conventional, store bought vs. grow your own and genetics matter.

    • @elviraskitchen
      @elviraskitchen 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've grown with homemade tomatoes and they taste 100 % different from the store bought , the homemade ones are sweet and very tasty , it's really hard for me to eat these that I find now they have lots of chemicals and hormones and there is no way they'll taste good ,if could find homegrown tomatoes u will notice a huge difference , cos it looks you are able to do that .😊

    • @catkin-z8g
      @catkin-z8g 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      leave cooked tomatoes in stainless and it definitely tastes metalic coz they are acidic and leach the metal which is the heavy metal nickel. Zinc is an essential co-factor in 300 enzyme systems but many people are deficient and Nickel mimics it and is absorbed but does not work.
