I must say, this is the best blog for perimenopause. You don't make it seem depressing (adding to the already anxiety and depression) by making it funny however very informative. Honestly whenever I have symptoms or unexplained issues I go to one of your blog and I feel so much better and don't have to run to the ER. which I have in the past. Thank you

The one thing that helps with all kinds of discomfort for me is lime juice It is amazing! I buy a bottle and squeeze some into a big glass of ice water in the morning and drink it. It is a game changer. Amazing results! I find fresh limes to be too expensive so I buy the 100% lime juice in the bottles. There is also lemon, cranberry and orange juice. These all help the body. I prefer sugarless juices though with lime being my favorite but lemon might do the same. Gets rid of a lot of aches and fatigue.

I am in perimenopause and I am 46. I try to consume fresh fruits and vegetables everyday to keep my system regular. I have noticed that now, my system has trouble digesting bread. I either get terrible constipation or trouble going for days when I eat bread. And I end up having to take a mild laxative to help me go. So I stay away from bread as much as possible because for some reason I am not able to digest it now that I am in perimenopause. We make our own pizza dough at home and make homemade pizza, we hardly get pizza from outside...we make cakes, brownies, cookies etc.. once in a while all at home.. We never buy the store pre packaged stuff. Every once in a while, I will purge and have a Starbucks brownie or a dunkin doughnuts chocolate doughnut and so far, my system is okay with that. We hardly ever eat out now and we mostly cook at home because most outside food, like fast food, gives me diarrhea and an upset stomach. So, we stay away from it. So this is what I have found. You need to figure out what works for you and stick to it so that you don't upset your system.

I am absolutely having issues. I have weird nausea sometimes at 2 am in the morning and gas a lot. I also have a strange thing that it seems like my stomach has shrunk. I can't eat like I did when I was younger. This is of course a scary symptom because a number of issues come up when you talk about not being able to eat as much as you once could... but this is the case for me. I had been doing time restricted eating but more and more I feel like I can't do that because I need to have large spaces between meals.

Hi Kari, just found you because I was trying to see if other people felt symptoms of morning sickness during perimenopause. I started this issue about 3 months ago. Usually everyone talks about gaining weight during perimenopause but I have lost weight. It scared me but its reassuring to know that this can also happen. I hate worrying about food. Things that help a little eating an apple in the morning, chewing mint gum and taking walks outside. I also take a vitamin b3 which helps me relax. I keep praying to God that this will be over soon. Good luck ladies, hormones are a pain.

@@flamingpieherman9822Hello 👋 Did nutritional yeast help you with "menopausal" nausea? How much did you take? Thank you!

    • @flamingpieherman9822
      @flamingpieherman9822 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@cl3381 I don't know that nutritional yeast actually controls the nausea. But it does control your nerves. It calms you down helps you focus. I take a heaping teaspoon a day. Usually over eggs or in a cup of grits or as a topping for soup.
But from symptoms of nausea, I've always relied on taking a ginger tea. Sometimes even peppermint tea.
I found that during the menopause transition my microbiome got out of whack. And I still struggle with it now and again. With Candida overgrowth and then my intestines not working as well as they did for some reason. That has caused me nausea. I recommend a good multi- Flora... I have one that's 11 different strains and about 50 billion. I take a teaspoon a day and water.(I do this periodically for a week and then I stop) I've also increased my vitamin C intake which is good for your veins and digestion and I've also started taking a pinch of sea salt in my water. I found my electrolytes were out of balance during menopause. So along with the magnesium and potassium that I was already taking, I had to increase my natural sodium.
So far so good. I hope this information helps you.

So sorry. I had peptic ulcers a year ago. I lost so much weight I had so much anxiety made things worse. Thank God I got them cure. Now I need to be very careful what I eat. Anxiety and stress kills my stomach and I start feeling the pain like my ulcers want to come back. It scares me. I haven’t been able to put on weight ever since this happened to me. Doctors think I don’t eat but I do eat my good meals. It’s so sad we suffer so much through this transition. Thank God to Kari that has helped us so much through this journey. ❤ Praying for all of us.

Good probiotics and even apple cider vinegar are good for indigestion...
Also, Candida can very easily become a problem... Not just a white tongue and not just a yeast infection, but a serious muscle digestion, fatigue and intestinal issue. . Clove tea, oregano, oil, raw garlic help in these situations as well as restoring Flora balance

I eat small portion meals and it’s usually the same food scrambled eggs/breakfast potatoes and cut it up so small like your feeding a toddler including portion size! then after I eat as time goes on I feel like I OVERATE a massive meal and it feels like the food does NOT digest just sits there for hours and hours then I start feeling NAUSEOUS but I never end up getting SICK but I get a bag ready close in case I do 🙄 then I’m NOT hungry or have an appetite for many hours later SO it’s to the point if I’m lucky only 2 small meals an entire day sometimes I get a small snack in there if I feel a little appetite 😭😮‍💨😱 this perimenopause life is MISERABLE I feel like it’s killing ME! fast 💨 question is regular apples 🍎 sauce ok to eat or would that effect the stomach❓🤍

@CYndibabI spent a small fortune going from doctors to naturopath. Feeling like am at deaths door most of the time Feeling like am fighting for my life.hardest illness have ever experienced
Now am having severe nausea n heart burn some time with palpitations..everything thing I eat gives me nausea. N it's soo wearing my nervous system down.
What I ve decided to do now is to eat mostly fruits for most of the day n coconut water n have 1 cooked meal.. I currently on antacid meds. Hopefully this will help balance things out. I noticed for me papaya n mangoes does better with my stomach.
We just have to keep experimenting n see what sticks..stay away from pepper n fpicy foods..I was offered some food n it had a little pepper n it set my stomach off n now am suffering for it.

Yes but if digestive issues are causing you to lose weight and it isn’t related to eating less due to discomfort you should see the doctor for a check up to make sure you are absorbing nutrients and are not deficient in some way. I hope you get to the bottom of things.

Before perimenopause, dairy did not make me constipated. But now whenever I eat dairy I have digestive issues. I have started increasing the fibre in my diet and drinking water after I eat dairy. There is a metallic taste in my mouth from the combination of dry mouth and reflux, and I have noticed that on the days that I am constipated the metallic taste is more intense. The mouth rinses that I am using alleviate dry mouth symptoms, but only for short periods of time. Does metallic taste go away after perimenopause?

Thank you for sharing your experience, Kari. I also hope that I will be lucky when I am in post-menopause. Right now it seems that every time I get effective treatment for one symptom, another peri-symptom starts up. I recently recovered from a cold, but post-nasal drip is still an issue. So, the phlegm, combined with peri-reflux and and peri-constipation, are giving me a lot of discomfort. I am constantly clearing my throat and it makes my throat sore. 😩

Loss of estrogen in menopause slows digestion and can cause issues. Working on gut health, chewing well and eating slowly, avoiding problematic foods, not drinking a half hour before and after eating, certain teas like green tea, ginger tea, peppermint tea or chamomile and getting adequate sleep at night can all help.
