Part two will show the stock chassis of the 57 compared to the changes I've made to the 55 chassis etc. In the kits the parts are identical

Nice to be outside with the weather turning a little cooler. Interesting differences and similarities on the two kits.

It’s a shame that such a nice kit has that window fitment problem. I really did like the 55 but boy is that window fitment a big problem. Glad to know the 57 isn’t quite as bad. Thanks for the shoutout Pete. I’m sure you’ll knock them both out of the park when finished.

She's a lovely little dog but has often ran off if I try to film her😅. There's hardly any parts changed in the 55 or 57. I think it might be luck of the draw as to glass fit in the 57 as in the 55😧

I do need to do some more reseach into the bed🤓🤓👍🤣,Tom. I don't know exactly which panels are fiberglass🤓🤔. I've just seen NASCAR's Jimmy Johnson in a brilliant race with F1 driver. The St Mary's trophy from Goodwood revival 👍real tyre squealing stuff👍😎
There's been so many builders on here pointing out the windshield problem. I hope AMT sees these and retools or sends out windshields that fit.
I wasn't getting bored, I was just starting to get in to.

Yeah...back when these kits came out, all you got for decals were licence plates. Not sure why AMT/ERTL did that in those years.
The 1955 Cameo kit came out first, followed by the 1957 kit. For the real trucks, the 1955 and 1956 had the same hoods while the 1957 hood had the same kind of "tubes" stamped into it to match the 1957 Bel Air hood.
I'll have to do that "Flash" thing again. Thank you for the shout-out. I did make an unboxing video of the 1957...i would have also for the 1955, but I didn't have a kit that wasn't partially built on that one.

Insightful comparison. I built one from AMT long time ago; made mine an old-beater so any fitment issue wouldn't matter too bad as things should look loose or falling apart. XD

My hidden secrets are become exposed,on Saturday nights I like to be known as Shirley. I'm glad you enjoyed the comparison between the two. Very little difference, overall, nut fun.Apart from the windows this could have been a really nice kit but the interior tub is very poor .
I always liked the 57 cameo body.
I like the visor over the headlights.
They were more pronounced.
Chevy did the same thing on the 57 Belair.
I don't think there's any difference in the main cab parts,reality may be different 🤔😎

If you were to see a 55 or 56 sitting next to a 57 you would see the difference.
They made the line on top that sets the body line sharper and and hook down just a bit at the visor. Its just a real subtle difference that gives it a better look.
But the model company probably used the same die for 55, and 56 for the 57.

They widened the head light bezels to fit four headlights, they stretched the grill and made it shorter. They also widened the cab, and flattened the top of the cab.

Very shuttle differences in the kit in my opinion Peter i would think the screen will be a issue as well on the 57 i hope my 53 don't have much problems in the glass department 👍👍
I does seem that the glass comes in various sizes and moulding conditions but ultimately the body part is the wrong shape. Brian Lewis emailed me some photos of a real one,that is in his garden and I was able to make accurate correction from those. There is a lot wrong with the top and bottom of the front screen which only working on the cab will correct.
