White Light/White Heat - The Velvet Underground - Lead + Bass (Sterling Morrison, John Cale) - 1080p

I decided not to add Lou Reed's rhythm guitar as I don't yet own a Gretsch Country Gentleman, but when I get one (very soon) I'll do some more VU songs ;)
Because this song was recorded very low fidelity, loud, distorted and mic'd very close to eachother, I had to record this song directly into my focusrite Scarlett 2i2 through GarageBand, because I don't think my neighbours would like the sound if I used my amp! I used the closest setting I could find to a Vox speaker.
For Sterling's guitar part, I used high bass, low mid, and a little treble and some small amounts of gain. I also simulated the amp being mic'd closely with a 414 condenser microphone, and a simulated 4x10 speaker cabinet.
For John's Bass part, I used the same guitar speaker, with mid bass, low mid, treble on full, a small amount of gain, and the drive setting engaged and set to 2. I also simulated close mic'ing with a 414 condenser mic, and a simulated 4x10 speaker cab.

Something to note!! The tuning of the guitar in this song is really unusual, so my best guess is the tape speed of the master recording was ever so slightly slowed or sped up. Sterling's lead guitar part is midway between D and D# and John's bass part is midway between E and Eb!!

First time hearing a velvet underground song. Gotta say they sound dope as! Btw that bass and guitar tone is killer! Also excited to see the country gent being added to the collection (although I thought you had the electromatic which looked and sounded very similar)
