I have made over 30 acoustic guitars and your neck fit was better than any of my builds. Fantàstic job Caleb. I hope you keep building, I bet you will have a lot of people wanting you to build them a guitar. I have really enjoyed watching you get better and better. Thanks for your videos.
I love that' podook, if Im spelling it right wood on the back of your guitar.. ? what kind of garín filler are you using? And were can I buy some of that' podook wood in the right thickness for guitar back and sides?
Hi Caleb Try Timbermate comes in a variety of colours water based non toxic, easily sanded. Mix amount needed for guitar add water to smooth paste I use a old credit card to smooth over, let it dry. Then sand easy to use Best wishes Kimball
@ merle I agree that it should have splints in the neck pocket but it’s all part of the learning process and an easy fix if/when it becomes problematic. He’s a passionate and talented young luthier. ⭐️👍🏼
@Merle_Staggard I was hoping it was just an illusion as I was seeing it pulling away and then having to be pressed back in after it was fully seated down. If he shaved a touch too much out of the pocket Caleb will find out soon enough and knows pretty well how to shim the pocket if he needs too afterwards. Personally I like to see it stop just a hair proud of the top and suck the neck tight into the tail block without any other action as you tap it down that last 32th/64th of an inch. Best!
@@chrismills1561 The neck does not "exactly fit" the neck block. You can see it moving around with at least a 1/8" gap at one point in the video. He pushes the neck into place to close the gap before clamping it. That would not be possible unless the joint was quite loose.

This whole thing looks very familiar. LOL
He learned from the best.
I am blessed that he was taught so he could build and repair on TH-cam after the Rosa retirement.
That guitar is coming along nicely, looking forward to hearing it👍
Well done Caleb, so much hard work, its paying off.

I love that padauk!
Nice job! Caleb did you ever get the neck out of that Japanese guitar?
Love the spartan appointments.
You do fine work, young man.
It’s a pleasure to see your skills progress.
Be well and stay happy and creative.
lookin good!
Looking GREAT Caleb.
great stuff as always dude ... keep it up
nice work .
Du bon boulot comme d habitude
Outstanding Eazy...
Cool video thumbs up.
Very very good 😊
Just wondering why you put the neck on before you finished it. Now you’re gonna have lacquer over the joint and I thought that was problematic.
Good fob
Cool build, can this grain filler be used with notrocellulose lacquer?
I can't wait until you're done. I'll make you an extremely low-ball offer for your first acoustic guitar!
That neck joint is way ,way too sloppy. Either string tension or temperature/moisture changes will make it pop right off.
Caleb I would keep your first guitar. Has Jerry given any pointers on the guitar that the neck will not budge on. I still say a Kung fu reset.
That neck joint is way too loose in that pocket, it's a bad day waiting to happen.
I would’ve done a bolt on. To each his own.

Let's see, the neck is hand chiseled to exactly fit the joint. And you think it is to loose. Let's see you do it before you make any comment.

Instead of plastic dot rods you can get abalone dots. Then you have no plastic 😉
