Yoshi-P has expressed in the past his distaste for gacha, likely a prime reason why he was reluctant to include FF14 characters Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, so I'd be more surprised if he allowed Square Enix to include gacha!
7:16 not a free game, but Deep Rock Galactic does this exactly. You can switch between any "battle pass" ever released at will and grind out towards what you prefer as well, rather than it having a predetermined order of rewards.
Guild Wars 2 does this with PvP and WvW passes (called reward tracks). Not technically true battle passes, because you don't pay for them and you can also swap between them at will. A few are repeatable so that you can grind out entire armor sets, and at least one drops an item that is required to craft a legendary item.
This statement (to me) sounds like someone that got a list of FFXIV features with one line descriptions and a passing knowledge of FFXIV but really hasn't played the game...
the only resource really being taken, if at all is budget, and there's probably a tiny bit of manpower in the form of some people from the main team overseeing things, probably no more than 5 people, as a guess

When people talk about mobile gaming they usually talk about the predatory market that preys on human psychology in the vast majority of its „games“ that prioritize maximizing profit by exploiting every angle they can. Honestly my biggest fear is that the mobile game will have the wrong consequences for the main game. More simplification to accommodate for mobile controls or just shorter content to easily translate it into the mobile system of short burst gameplay. I doubt they'll go through the KR/CN MMO upgrade gear system (which is a huge money earner) you see in games like Lineage, RO mobile, etc.)

I don't care about what the mobile game is. I'm scared it will influence the MAIN GAME super negatively. Enough to kill off the game permanently. Square CANNOT resist killing off their game for short term failure that keep failling in the long term.

No, this project has taken away your sub money from ffxiv. This mobileshit game is instead of the next piece of content in the real game. This is a massive loss
This project has not taken sub money from ffxiv lol outside of the devs already working on FFXIV who are helping to supervise Lightspeed's devs, which is like, an extra meeting a week lol

That's what I am thinking too. This is what the "streamlining" is for.
I have no confidence in this game whatsoever, seems like a waste of resources from SE. Plus every ffxiv youtuber being sponsored to make videos promoting this makes me extremely wary of this news. It seems rather astroturfed.
Ya this is going yo be exactly what you expect. Its a massive L
SE Taking money from FFXIV to fund literally anything besides FFXIV? Inconceivable.
Square Enix isn't the one developing this
It's amazing how much discussion is going on and the release date is so close and no one knows anything about how this will actually play. Keeping my expectations rock bottom.
if things do workout for this, everyone gonna afk in limsa mobile instead cos its f2p
This all sounds great, they just need to not call it ffxiv. Call it “Final Fantasy: Eorzia Adventures” or something, and market it as “new views in the world of Final Fantasy 14”, just not “THIS IS 14”
They already lost me at micro-transactions
I don't care about what the mobile game is.
I'm scared it will influence the MAIN GAME super negatively. Enough to kill off the game permanently. Square CANNOT resist killing off their game for short term failure that keep failling in the long term.
Comment section: "I can't believe they would divert my Final Fantasy 18 development resources for a mobile game! 😢😢😢"
imagine how wondrous FF14(the real one) would be if they just let them use the money it makes to make the game better, and not squander it on nonsense like this.
this mobile game will be garbage.
Square Enix isn't the one developing this
I'll pass, I tried Mobile but it's just not fun, and not even FF14 will be able to make it fun. Hope they end up putting more money into FF14 if it works out.
If I could level my characters on mobile that would be the best thing ever!
I think this is just ARR, I don’t think we will be able to play expansions after it.
@@-UwU-catgirl- it is
You know it's a bit of a content drought when everyone is getting hype over a mobile game.
Content drought for basically only casuals lol
More like the calm before Ult, I think
@@evanczthehunter57True and real bro, skill drought in the community for a long time.
if your not in a successful guild its a big content drought, pvp is a joke too.
this sounds like a really terrible idea :(
squenix: greeting wol we-
me: I DON'T GIVE A SH!T I'M NOT DOWNLOADING YOUR CRAP CHINESE GAME!
I am definitely on the fence about this. Just honestly not excited, but don't necessarily hate the idea of a xiv mobile either. Never really been into phone games tbh
