Damn it I just want every BTS documentary to be like the Star Wars prequels ones. No talking heads hyping up how amazing it was, no glamour and quick cuts like it's a glorified trailer for the movie. Just give me the raw, extended footage of the pre-production and on set. I want to see the boring stuff, the real stuff, and the ugly stuff. We've already seen and loved the movie, we don't need to be sold on how amazing and dedicated the cast and crew were.
v different products. one is its own documentary that needs its own funding for weeks of shooting, this is just extended marketing that fits in the marketing budget, and only needs a few days of BTS filming.
I like all of Eggers's movies a lot but still, even after "Nosferatu," nothing beats "The Lighthouse" in terms of mise-en-scène, atmosphere and all the multitude of ways it can be interpreted. It's mythological, it's psychological, psychosexual, sociological, it's an almost perfect film for me!
HAAARK! This is my favorite movie, it has everything, long monologues, ancient english language, robert and williem, sirens and sea shanties. Saludos desde veracruz🏖 mexico
One of my favourite films, and 9.99999/10 perfect from me - but just LOOK at all that gorgeous colour that was lost to the B&W conversion. I know I'll be hung, drawn and quartered as a heathen by daring to utter this aloud, but to me colour is aliveness, relatability, more immersive. I would love to see this in colour. Impossible, I know, but just saying!
“Colour is aliveness, relatability, more immersive” - yes, but the movie is the antithesis of those things! It is deathly, focused on conflict (as opposed to relatability) and the rejection of civilised norms by a harsh, unforgiving, and isolating environment (as opposed to being immersed in it)
@@Madcant Hello! Good points all, for fans of B&W :) May I ask, did you not feel anything at all different in the viewing experience and sensations that arose between the colour footage clips and the B&W? (Allowing for 'knowing' the film as being B&W of course). As an amateur stills photographer I'm fascinated by what they each offer us. There's no objective right/wrong answer here, of course, just idle reflections and preferences. I'm biased by my own innate (?) response to colour, which speaks to me more deeply in ways that B&W doesn't seem to. I 'see' B&W (I view it in the abstract, as a facsimile of the experience), but I *feel* colour (I feel more like I'm immersed within the experience).
my favorite movie of all time. perfect in every way. i’ll always consider this the greatest of all time. edit: no, seriously. i don’t think any of you understand how much i love this movie. i think about it everyday. i love love love love this fucking movie oh my god.
Yeah, the flatulence really enhances it, really the pinnacle of film! Or maybe a man farting multiple times doesn't need to be depicted in what is otherwise a beautiful movie.
@ first off just say fart you don’t sound smarter, second off the farts immediately establish thomas’s dominance over ephraim, while also adding comedy to thomas’s misery. it’s also something people do, such as pissing, shitting, and cumming, which is all present in the film.
wow! I can hardly wait to really watch this movie! Thanks it looks like a good one. Give me twenty five! And swab the decks Like your mother is given birth here wicky!
cinematic masterpiece

@@MrIsaacE Yeah and one is WAY more interesting to watch than the other
I wanna see the actors being silly in costume

Still my favorite film of the last decade, followed by Hereditary
You have amazing movie taste
You and me are on the same page! Both amazingly memorable movies. I love a movie that creates a memory and those both did that in a major way
Excellent. How about The Witch,
All of Ari aster and Eggers films are my fav. The substance just came out and was a lot of fun too.
@@Jaebird2 We could be friends.
5 out of 5 movie. Underrated masterpiece.
Congratulations on making what is probably the best film in the last 10 years. Seriously, thank you.
Just a cozy little movie about two lighthouse keepers guiding ships on their way to better pastures. Nothing else, nothing more 🙋🏻♂️
they all got robbed of awards for this film.
Not the ones Parasite won
Tough competition
Cinematic geniuses at work! Masterful film making. Outstanding DP, directing, writing, acting, what a team! Bravo!!!

great video
Now this is a rise of an Ancient Lighthouse keeper
His voice sounds exactly like Backyard Scientist’s voice

Perfection! To say the least
seeing it in colour is even more disturbing than the film itself 😅
Yes, 100%. Glad it's not just me who feels this way!
1:49 Pattinson giving a PERFECT impression of Willem

The imagery is very Andrew Wyethish ...
agreed
Hearing Robert Pattinson’s real voice in something is so odd now. The Lighthouse is definitely one of his best performances.
I need Robert Eggers crew neck he’s wearing 😢
