Thank you very much! Great to see that someone used to play the game like I do, at least for this fight against Super Macho Man! I agree about the difficulty of the game. When we were younger and didn't understand the subtilities and the patterns of the game, it could be hard. However, now that we know about how to fight each opponent, that makes it really easy, even too easy for some people to understand. ;)
Thanks again dude! In the video description, there is a link to another fight against Super Macho Man in which I beat him in 1:43, which is my record. I did it more than 15 years ago, may be when I was at my best haha. Getting older now, but still the same passion for those older games! :)
@warrkrymez Yeap! Of course, at 0:42, it's a one-spin punch. He does that here and there, but the multi-spin punches will ALWAYS come right after Super Macho Man got knocked down. It's just the way it is. ;)
I'm with you man, i used to play this a long time ago and tbh, you are just playing exactly how I use to play, all the tricks and little openings you take advantage of are the same as I did... I can't even believe people would dispute this as if this game is THAT hard. Thanks for the vids, made me smile with old old memories!
Thank you very much dude! The timing thing is a question of practice indeed. However, last time I played, I found a new way to fight him. It requires a lot of luck to be able to fight the new way, but it may be a key to be able to beat him under my personal record! ;)
Then you should look at my much older video, may be not on TH-cam, but in real life. Check for my 1:43 record vs this guy. The video is what I recorded on videocassette back in time.
Yeah! Thanks to clarify me! He does this one-spin punch once in a while after a series of his own uppercuts. We can even block it with a punch we throw while he shakes before doing it. It looks like the same multi-spin punches he delivers right after he got knocked down! However, those are not exactly the same! ;)
The game genie comment was made by quite the dolt. This was all skill. Hats off to you, my man---I've been trying to beat this guy for a week or so. This video gave me some pointers. The timing on this is crazy.
@silver101able @silver101able Did the "Select" button trick before the fight. We usually do it to restore energy between rounds... It only works once per fight though. For the big fights, when using it before the fight begins, it will decrease your energy by half. ;)
@caseface666 You have to do it after he throws certain kind of punches. Look at the beginning of the video for that. Other times, it's another technique. Before he does his Spin Punches, you can press "UP" to make him get his guard high, then hit him to the body.
@HalDanGhor I'm not so sure the right and left dodge are the exact same. They both work fine against Super Macho Man's spin punches, but for some reason, any time I try to dodge Sandman's flash punches with right dodges, I always seem to get hit compared to left dodges. It could be just me though.
@kadel300 You can press "Select" only once per fight between rounds to replenish some health. When you do that, you'll notice that Little Mac's trainer arm will hit Mac's shoulder faster, so it means that you did it. Do it before some tough fights like this one, and Mac's health will decrease by half. ;)
Yeah, I would have to say that he was my favorite to fight as well over Tyson. He was definitely at challenge, especially with his super spin punch to where you had no idea when he was going to spot doing it. To this day, I still can get beaten by him. As for Super Punch Out, he was a lot easier in that game than the original if you ask me...well he is when you get his moves figured out lol.
@BareknuckleRoo Dodging right works exactly the same as left dodge in this game. However, for Super Punch Out on SNES, they are different. You can avoid all Sandman's punches with left or right dodges including the flash punches. You can even use the ducking move to avoid them as well. More tricky though. ;)
@ShadowMantis9 Yeah, that flash announces some upcoming punches I guess. However, I never relied on it that much. The only flash I work with is the one that Great Tiger does, like in the first minute of the fight. I use the flash of his magical hat to time my punches in order to beat him quickly. ;)
@thesnare100 Dodging right does work as well as dodging left or dodging down (quickly double push downward direction). It's only a matter of timing. ;)
@reddog24playa1 Just left from your TH-cam nickname when you enter TH-cam, there is an upload option. Click on it and you can upload any video from your computer. It has to be in AVI or MPEG or WMV or FMV, etc format.
Have you ever on purpose went to the third round with SMM? I think he may be able to through infinite spin punches that round, or at least it seemed like it back in the day. My cousin and I counted 50 one time before he got KO'd.
Thank you very much! I saw your second round KO against him! Great job too! I used timed punches to get stars from him in my record, but I was very very lucky. Sometimes, he avoids big uppercuts just before doing his super attack, sometimes not. This time, he didn't avoid my super punches. So I could set a special record against him. As soon as I can send it, I will do it! ;) (in one month maximum)

@HalDanGhor I can see where that guy made a mistake. When Super Macho Man spun 3 times, you did dodge a 4th time thinking he was gonna punch you again, I do the same thing while fighting him. That guy failed so hard, couldn't even count how many times you dodged lol :D And nice job! I've been trying to beat this guy for the longest time
Thank you very much! Yes, I decided to send this fight instead of a few others against this guy. I defeated him faster in some of them, but this one really allowed me to show a few of his weaknesses. :D
Damn! Of course not a good time, but I like how you timed all of those single hits perfectly and got all of those stars from him. I should try to do that next time I attempt to KO Super Macho Man. Nice job!
@HalDanGhor Bro, I used to dodge his spin move by pressing down twice to duck away. I thought that pressing left wouldn't work since his swing was really wide. haha. And wtf? at 0:42 he only spun once and then you were able to counter him?
1:00, he always gets me with this punch, seems like I have to jump a little early because its so fast and it looked like you jumped a little early how did you know when to jump

Many many years ago, I guess I went to the third round a couple of times against him, but it never happened to me to see more than 17 Spin Punches in a row from him. ;)
Stars meant you could do the Super punch thing by pressing start. Heart's indicated how many times you could block before you went into that pink mode thing where you're a sitting duck.
@deezyfosheezy127 Wrong. Yes, he'll dodge them all after 1 or 2, EXCEPT after the big combination of punches we can land on him after his spin punches. Also, BEFORE his ONE SPIN PUNCH, it is possible that, SOMETIMES, we can get him with Uppercuts. Also, BEFORE his MULTIPLE SPIN PUNCHES, it is possible that SOMETIMES, he won't dodge them. You understand?
Never have beaten this guy, that spin punch he does after he gets back up gets me almost every time. Then when you lose you have to go back and fight Don Flamenco and Sandman again, and Sandman is hard enough! Still love the game though.
@The830pm It's more of a trick than a cheat. It will decrease health by half only at the beginning of specific fights. It's not random. For example, it'll never work against Glass Joe but will always work against Super Macho Man...
