I prefer playing on a true NES console, but the fact is it is easier for me to record videos for TH-cam on my emulator, and I got more games on my emulator than my NES too. And, I can save things and remain sure of never losing them too. There are lots of advantages using it, but nothing is like playing as I did on my NES in the good old times! ;)
We can see it coming, but we must act real fast to counter him. and, if he does not do his jab, he has only one possibility left, and it is his left hook. At 1:43, you can notice I got an hesitation. I was not sure what he would do. We cannot really predict what he'll do, the jab or the left hook? However, I got a little lucky to look good against this guess for this video. I got better times for this kind of try, but this was the best-looking video for it. So, I chose this one! ;)
Because when you push select in the screen where you have to push start to begin a fight, it uses the power we can use once per fight to restore Mac's energy. Doing it before some fights can decrease it by half! I did it for fun! ;)
@@123TauruZ321 Yeah. If I just avoid a punch in using right or left, you can see Little Mac do the move in what I would call slow motion. But if you do right/left or left/right quickly, you will see that Little Mac does the same move, but much much faster.
@@HalDanGhor I see now, you mean the dodge move. I actually seem to remember figuring that out myself.. but i wasn't such a fanatic about this particular game. But i can see that it probably helps getting in a few more punches. Very nice gameplay indeed! :)
@HalDanGhor Ive noticed that Nintendo games on the NES have some sprites, or sounds that are similar. In the castles between walls, in Legend of Zelda, you would find the block sprite used in SMB. I just now figured out that when Bald Bull kicks your ass, he laughs at you Ganon style. Lol.
Do you have to have NES to have the game? I was thinking about buying this game because I got the Super Punch Out!!, and the Wii Punch Out!!, and I was wondering if you have to have NES, or you can download it for PC for free. Thanks.
@LedWilde The health restore trick before a fight will not always drop health by half. It depends on the fights. You can use this trick only once per fight. The full health thing is not true. If you are between rounds with full health, you'll just use it for nothing. It won't restore nothing or decrease nothing, but you'll have used it for your only time in that fight. ;)
@vonpursley If between rounds, that trick can restore your health, using it before some tougher fights might result in losing half the health of Little Mac. ;)
@WitlessSod perhaps you saw the Doc´s fist before the fight? going fast, right? that's because he pressed select, and that gives you life when you are damaged and can only be used once in a fight, but as he use it at first round, it will take life off.
gg man. I have been wondering after watching most all of your videos. Things like this take such precise timing, do you prefer to play in the actual NES or do you use an emulator?
I only started playing this game recently, and I knew about the star trick. I didn’t use it though, even though it took like 100 tries to beat him without the trick.
Also, I remember trying to use a Turbo Pad for this game like 15 years ago, and it's not fast. The key to be fast is to time punches with our fingers. Tapping buttons fast is not as accurate as good timing. We just have to practice it a little. Nothing big about it... ;)
True, but, since I don't use any tool and don't need perfect vids, I only prove what I have to prove and that's it! I got a better time in one of my attempts, but since I did some mistake in the one I did a better time, I decided to get a fight in which I was personally satisfied with everything. :)

Ummm, quick question: this is supposed to be the 1st round and I didn't notice Little Mac getting punch at any time in the fight, so why is his health bar not full?
But you're using save-states to do this. The timer in the upper-right corner speeds up and slows down like crazy. That doesn't happen unless you're using freeze-state cheating. This makes me sad.
Exactly Vict! To be perfect in a fight like this one would be to hit Soda 9 rapid times each time we can hit him quickly. However, it takes tremendous timing, and if I was a cheter, I guess I would have showed a perfect video. I did under 2:55 for this fight, but I kept this one because it was my favorite one. The other was a better time, but I did a mistake in the fight, and it wouldn't look as good as this one. ;)

You could do this faster if you punch with the same hand he swings with if he throws a left the you throw a right and rights only then when he throws a right you throw a left, takes his health down much faster great video by the way
Hmmm.... Even if you didn't play for many years, if you used to feel great with a joypad, your power should come back real fast! I cannot imagine myself getting old at those games. I personally think time just help players to get more mature and even if they lose some timing/speed, very slowly, they still get better with time. That's how I feel with myself right now! :)
You're probably one of the few people around who doesn't know about the quick jab trick. There was no Turbo involved. Plus think about it. If punching that fast wasn't possible in the game already, how would an adapter change that? Watch the vid again, man. Alternating between A and B that quickly is quite simple to do.

Not at all man! I am a true player. Don't even worry about it! the key to hit fast is to quickly avoid punches and pushing the A and B buttons at the right time. It's not a matter of tapping them fast. It wouldn't work... :))

I use reflexes, but technically, the key is to quickly do right+left (directions) or left+right, and once mastered, we got a faster Little Mac! ;)

Did you know that recovery time is very slightly less if you punch with alternating sides?

Very nice. I've gotten close, but he usually catches me with that stray punch. I've beaten Super Macho Man in Round 1 a few times though.
Everything normal. Timer stops or slowers when we hit fast series of punches in that game. ;)
