I think that width and offset are too much for the Evo 4's OEM set up. The only way to keep those rims and tyres, while trying to avoid rubbing, would be with the suspension settings being super firm, which of course will mean the ride quality may not be enjoyable at all.
@@narsylvester it's all part of the journey in the end. It will be a bit before I get to editing it, but I'm doing the coilovers this week, so by week's end I'll have my answer.
Thanks. Yeah I'm starting to realize that. Gonna get the car aligned and get the brakes done and then determine what to do regarding the wheels and tires.
@@shautohaus I've done Evo8 brembo brakes all around. Wheels/tires and maintenance. I will need to do coilovers next. Saw you did the Fortune Auto, so waiting to see that vid drop before I decide what to go with.
@@JDMTasMav hey what wheels and offset are you running? Are you getting any rubbing? Also, I did the coilovers this week and they are exceptional. Will hopefully get the video out in a month or so, but excited to see how they perform on the track.
Nice wheels but offset for the rim is a bit aggressive.......i think that even with new suspension tire will continue to rub.... need a wheel with more offset.......for example if you have 25 you should consider a 35 or even 40..the wheel needs to move inside.... What is the offset for the old and new rims?
The offset for these wheels are a 35 (17x8). The old wheels were so old I couldn't even find out what they were. They were some kind of Bridgestone wheel from Japan. I spent a bunch of time researching and most of the Evo community said 35 and less were okay. We'll see how it turns out.
... you know you could measure yourself. back spacing - (1/2 the width) should result in the offset (convert to metric unless you started in metric.....
@@K03sport I did a bunch of calculations before I bought, but I wasn't going from stock which was the problem. I have since done a bunch of measurements, but always good to hear from the community and understand their experiences 👍🏽
you need a 2nd 17mm socket to go over the lug socket. wrap the lug socket in electrical (or painters) tape [clean socket 1st].....horrible packaging on the lug nuts; loose in a big box 😕. mannnn, everyone keeps showing question mark ❓ wheels (all colors) and the wheels are never the actual question mark...always left dissapointed despite how nice the "orher" wheel is... I need to make a question mark wheel and I watch the money "roll" in. 🤔
Cool set of wheels! Suspensions would put another nice hole into your wallet but it'll be the best money spent. I'll probably keep on saying that though. : )
nice to see that, please keep update

What do you recommend for the 4? It may come down to new wheels and tires in the end. We shall see soon.
I'm really hoping that you won't need to try another set, but I guess you'll see how it goes, step by step.

@@shautohaus Yes indeed on the journey. Looking forward to seeing the follow up videos. Cheers.
Nice work! You can always run a little electrical tape around those thin sockets to protect the wheel finish.
Good advice. Been using it so far and it has good clearance so no issues to date, but electrical tape is a great suggestion.
Anything over 215 in width will have rubbing issues nice wheel choice looks sick

Cool to see the passion and love you have for your evo4! I’ve owned mine for about 1 year now. Still a lot to do as well.
Awesome man. What kinds of things have you been doing to it?

Thank you for not going to 18's. The CN9A/CP9A chassis looks so much better in 17" wheels. Just my opinion though.
Agreed. Honestly I couldn't even fit 18s even if I wanted to. 17s are perfect for this generation of cars.

Don't worry, my wallet is just one giant hole with this car at the moment 🤣🤣🤣😭
