When I purchased it (for 2000) It needed a lot I didnt realize as well. new primary clutch, belt, breaks, master cylinders, caliper, petcock, tie rod ends, wheel and axle bearings carb kit and tires. Always ran great though..... Had it up for 2000 on marketplace ( all fixed)ended up letting it go for 1500. Good luck I'd run but I am nowhere near as skilled as urself.

You literally had to cock the handle bars in one direction to go straight and because of the bend the front wheels were cambered off to one side. He also said it was a 2006. People are freaking liars when it comes to selling things.

My Mom's ex husband used to have a 500 Polaris scrambler, it was prolly around an early 2000s model and looked similar to that one, maybe a little more sportier, it ran pretty good. I think it was a 2 stroke, I could be mistaken or he didn't know what he had but I'm pretty sure he said it was a 2 stroke. It didn't sound like a conventional 2 stroke like a 250R or any others but it was an automatic and wasn't a racing 4 wheeler so it didn't scream but I don't remember it sounding like this one. But I rode it a couple times and I liked the fact it was an automatic, makes trail riding more fun.

400 were 2 strokes the 500 were 4 strokes if I remember right, been a long time.. had a few with bad transmissions (must have been common as I had a couple), or the 4WD didnt work (like this one). pretty easy fix (4WD), taking the transmission out not so fun.

I’m not sure why you think the Polaris 4 wheel drive is junk. I think it works well, and you get true four wheel drive, not three wheels.

Also u need a plastic welder. I got one and ill never look back like 30 bux. And comes with 100 different assortment of sizes. Do it from behind then let it cool and cut the pin studs off. Works amazing. Touch up pen if you even need it

Not 100% sure if it was the same on the scramblers or not but I had the 250 2 stroke and the front brake lever actually controlled a 60/40 split and worked on both front and rear brakes it was actually kind of nice tbh

Man, saw that carb open and my first thought was "new carb time" 😂. One thing you can say about Polaris, is they sure didn't copy much from the Japanese mfgs, did they 😉. Great job untangling all that mess!!

Just bought a 300ex guy claimed it needed carb work well it turned over and had no compression well turned out to be a broken piston and a bent rod ! So I used a socket extension and a pipe and got the rod bent back I figured that if I can get some fun out of it I will I put a new top end on and I am still working on it

When you're selling something and you promise to hold it, here's how to do it without getting screwed or screwing someone over.
Ask the person how long they will take to get there, then add 2 hours for them.
Tell them to keep their PHONE ON, so you can keep in touch.
When number 2 calls, inform them of the situation and your promise to number 1.
If number 1 doesn't show up at the appointed time and doesn't answer his phone after 5 attempts, he's now in number 2 position and you contact number 2 to inform him.
If number 1 shows up out of the blue, he's gotta wait for number 2.
It's the fairest way to handle this.
