It's always my favourite part when watching a new Chrono Trigger player too. Only thing he missed was him waiting for the Princess to finish shopping, since it doesn't trigger unless you pull her away twice. Was a little confused by it saying he tried to sell the pendant though. He never did that.
@@metalisticpain actually the way to get full not guilty verdict is to find the girl's cat before talking to her. you also have to talk to Marle BEFORE grabbing her pendant.
So something i was always curious about until i looked it up. The Enertron in the future allows a person to receive energy and a full nights sleep but it doesn't do anything for your hunger. This always confused me as a child until i looked up what it meant. It basically means these people are barely kept alive by the Enertron without needing food. So their in an physically weakened state deprived of food but kept alive by pure energy form the machine hence why their so afraid to leave it. They literally depend on the machine for their lives till the power runs out.
I always understood it that way, no idea if I could even read all the dialog because my English was way worse back when I was a kid, but I think from context I got that that was what was going on
@@raven-a Me too, since all of that is discussed in mandatory dialogue. In fact the whole quest in the area is to get them off of that dependence. I never considered it to be a big secret.
The Enertron is a pretty horrifying machine. We know, given the game over sequence, that the people of 1999 were aware of Lavos. The Domes, the stored supplies, the production of a robotic labor force... all of it seems to have been an attempt to prepare themselves to outlast the inevitable apocalypse of Lavos. And among those creations... a machine that could keep you alive. Even if you were injured. Even if you were sick. Even if you were literally starving to death. It could keep you alive. And give you just enough energy to get some things done before you needed it again. It was an invention of ultimate last resort, a way to keep people alive even if all else failed. And as long as there are at least 2 people left in your dome, you can keep forcing each other into that machine for as long as it takes. It is entirely possible that, were it not for the robot revolution and the spread of mutated monsters, the Enertron alone might have bought humanity enough time to carve out a livable niche in the world again. But it didn't. Instead humanity has spent centuries in rotting domes, starving to death but unable to die.
For those wondering about the blue guy at the end of the video, he appears in the top left, top right, and bottom right. He gives 30 TP and 3x All Materials. First time you kill him he gives an accessory, and if you Charm him with Ayla he'll give you a Mop, which is a joke weapon for Crono
Nice of Connor to play Chrono Trigger to give a tribute to Akira Toriyama Sensei RIP Legend you'll always be remembered for inspiring so many of our childhood's
Chrono Trigger was my introduction to the works of Akira Toriyama. It was also my intro to Square. That's right. Not DragonBall. Not Final Fantasy... Chrono Trigger. I can say with a cigar in one hand and a whiskey in the other... I had the best intro possible, in all cases.
2 years ago I bought a physical copy of this game for a very pretty penny, left me broke for a week but I just wanted to play it badly. It's one of my all time favorite games now and I don't regret the steep price I paid for it.
@@SushiGhost97woah I lucky I still got my original snes copy and box and game guide Same for secret of mana I have heard that it was worth something but honestly I still play my snes to much to ever think about selling some of my original stuff lol
It's amazing how I'm finally playing this game after so many years, and so many of my reactions are just like Connors. Not realizing there's an entrance or being so lost like, "we need to find the queen. Where is she."
Glad he loves the music. Kevin Penkin might be a friend of the show but Yoshinori Mitsuda is the real goat. And speaking of eating the monsters, Mitsuda did the ost for Dungeon Meshi!
I’m so glad you decided to play my most favorite RPG of all time! It’s such a classic. The story, character design, music, and gameplay are just fantastic. 💜
This is one of those games where if you played it as a kid you could easily remember every single detail down to the color of the clothing of the characters and the sounds they made when they walked. It's just that good of a game.
Always was curious about this game and wanted to see some gameplay it's actually pretty cute so far!! I loved chrono cross, I've been thinking about replaying it since it's on steam now.
The Robo Roll is always great. What was once meant to be a fun music reference has turned into people getting Rickrolled through time. Very appropriate for this game, don't you think?
The first time I was playing Chrono Trigger I thought that saving the princess was the only thing to do in the game. I was so wrong. 3:59:40 Stop! Hammer arm.
I'd love if you could try Dragon Quest 8, a game that's usually overlooked but a very solid game that's known for its presence as one of the ps2's best JRPG titles. Like chrono trigger, Akira Toriyama's influence is a staple of the Dragon Quest series, and the eighth entry is quite possibly the best introduction to the franchise, save for the more modern eleventh entry. I know it's not the place for recommendations, but I can't help but recommend a game that holds a dear place in my heart. Love the content, Connor.
So Connor said he wants to play/experience great classic games. Does anyone know if there is a list of games he wants to beat somewhere?? I'm wondering if he'll play or add Earthbound to the list.
I'm late to playing these games too. I emulated this one 2 years ago and played on higher speed. It was so worth it. Incredible game and soundtrack !! Didnt get every ending but got the main one that matters most. 10/10 id like to see you play FF8 and 9 amd 10 tbh
Chrono Trigger has no random battles but it has soooo many forced battles that random battles or no doesn't matter. Lufia 2 imho has the best encounter system where enemies become a kinda mini puzzles on how to either avoid or catch them (each enemy in dungeons is shown and has a unique walking behaviour; some rush you, others flee, some walk random, some walk in a spiral patterns and others teleport around etc)
I love how he named robo rick because the theme when you first talk to him reminds me of rick roll song I had no idea that was why cronnor named him that lol
i didn't see this mentioned anywhere, and i'm only 5.5 hours into the video, but should we tell him that you can force the crits by pressing the select button right when the character goes to attack? i believe this was mentioned either in the original manual or in the strategy guide, I don't remember which.
I've never played or watched Chrono Trigger before but I have played a game where all the music is exactly the same style as this game and I can't remember it, and it's driving me insane.
Favorite SNES game is Terranigma. Almost no one has heard of it. It combats a Secret of Mana combat system with Chrono Trigger time travel shenanigans. Highly rec it.
I'm finally getting to these now, so sorry I'm 34 years late. The battle music is similar to Sea of Star's battle music. Seriously, listen to "Encounter Elite!" from the Sea of Stars OST and the battle theme from Chrono Trigger. They are so similar. Makes me find Sea of Stars even more unoriginal than I already thought it was.
Funny how people compared this to Dragonball Z when its literally the same creators/studio also.... chrono trigger was released all around the world a year before dragonball was, even if dragonball was created and release only in japan 1989 it didn't really pick up popularity until it hit the US.
I usually always give thumbs up, but as soon as you said you didn't feel great, but decided to do this anyway, in whatever natural way as per your condition, I was like "fuck yeah, that's real" (and it really empowers us all to feel okay interacting with life even if we don't think we feel at our best... because myself, I don't feel like doing shit until I've gone running, and if I have poppies, eat poppies... yes OPIUM), and I pressed the like button... Also, CDawg plays Chrono Trigger?!?! count. me. in. Connor, I'm sure you heard the music. It's actually all I know from the game. I haven't played it yet, but the soundtrack has this bit called Hall of Time or something like that and is beautiful... like YOU! 😘💙🙌🍄🌲God bless Connor and his eternal temple of gaming and art.
Cool that you're playing this, but it's too bad you're playing the Steam version, which is one of the worst versions to play. Even after the patches SE gave it, it still has a litany of issues, including that it looks hideous with either the filter (full pixel) or no-filter mode, has the significantly-inferior English translation, has an awful UI and font, has an ugly yellow tint filter over everything in the game, has those ridiculous exclamation bubbles above NPCs heads when standing next to them (what possessed SE to put those things in the latest patch, who knows), and more. Each successive version of CT was made worse than the previous. So, if you want to play the best version of the game, play the SNES version. Chrono Trigger deserves far better than the Steam version, and so do you.
What a luck, that this is a VOD, so I could skip all the eating noises. Eating and talking is just disgusting. Also very loud paper (or whatever the food was packaged in) sounds..
I was giggling like a child as he proceeded to do everything that could get him in trouble at the trial sequence.
