- Dancers from the Royal Birmingham Ballet rehearse for a new full-length, three-act ballet inspired by British heavy metal band Black Sabbath which will open in September. The band's co-founder Tony Iommi says he was "fascinated" by the idea presented to him by ballet director Carlos Acosta, and that it is good to "break out that box a bit and do something different".

As a long time ballet and metal head, I've choreographed ballet from some songs in my head so NOT surprised.
The first five Black Sabbath albums are now more than 50 years old. How fitting that they should be considered classical enough to be incorporated into the timeless genre of ballet. Two beautiful art forms coming together - this is history being made in the present day! What an amazing thing is taking place here!
I'm kind of proud that a latinamerican artist can mix the ballet 🩰 presentation with the powerful sound of one of the top heavy metal bands!!! Just one word explain all this

I went to see this ballet. It was amazing. Great dancers, great choreographers and a terrific bass player on stage. The audience was a great mix of ballet fans and Sabbath fans. Great standing ovation at the end. I’d see it again in a heartbeat.

They definitely could use some accessories, like very flowy black cloth etc to enhance the 'otherness' of this ballet and make it more, for lack of a better word, METAL

Tbh you can tell these dancers don’t usually listen or dance to this genre.. the choreography is fine, but the way they move is too controlled, too smooth and fluid for this genre. They need more oomph!
The dancers should be playing air guitar some of the time.,
