The first in a trilogy (check out the sequel, "Brief Candle", at • Brief Candle ) of screendance films about our tug-of-war with wilderness. Here we explore a building's decay. The choreography and original score are both in decrescendo to illustrate the building's retreat from the physical world, and Nature's advance on it.

Imagine if you're walking in the wilderness and find an abandoned building and when you look through a window you see this woman in black just dancing by herself. I would tip toe the hell out of there.
acemachine26 through the tulips??
acemachine26 I would dance with her if she noticed me as I came in
Allusion so true. Exactly what I would do
"tip toe the hell out of there" bhahhaahhaa. historically true!
acemachine26 especially if there's no 🎵 playing 😂
How the trees are crowded at the dusty windows to watch this beautiful human communicating with art in dance.
This is the proof that dance can be everything, as long as there is real emotion behind it. It's really, really amazing

Just look like a crazy lady to me
@@xlrbossshorts unfortunate that you don’t have the capacity to understand art
@@kyleemeg2171 LOL, im joking XP
Although I observed this was a premonition caste 10 years ago, it perfectly captures much of the intensity of the chaos of our unknown
and yet demanding faith in the now and new of our present world. Fascinating, huh?
She is SO good. Just completely evocative in her expression. Creepy yet compelling. Liminal. Well done.
perfect blend of art-dance, light, music, and crow

I relate to that scratching and circling in dust. Anxious, forgetting what you're doing, starting something else ,then remembering that you're doing something else. Circles and circles and not getting anywhere
Your Cities lie in Dust my Friends, another Daughter of the Morrighan once said.
I did not realize this was about urban decay and how nature takes over afterward. I thought it was about some kind of emotional pain, especially when the pieces of paint fall on her. She looks like she's given up at the end. Beautiful!
but that is the beauty of art . . . interpretation is everything . . . and in the eye of the beholder it can be anything.

her dance, her expression, the raw cinematography, the whole essence of this piece is art! and full of unexplainable emotions, I came across this video quite a long time ago, and have been looking for this ever since, and countless times I imagine myself as her, stopping right before the staircase, and just there...I'm glad at last I've found this again.
she is interpreting feeling of a bird in a prison......nice choreography....
lovely kumari she is specifically meant to be a raven who when exposed to the lead paint of the building dies from poisoning
it says specifically in the description the intentions behind the music and the choreography :
"Here we explore a building's decay. The choreography and original score are both in decrescendo to illustrate the building's retreat from the physical world, and Nature's advance on it."
but I like your interpretation about it.
@@pseudonym7562 wow beautiful
@@pseudonym7562 The intent of an artist is pretty much meaningless, think of a tool to guide their execution. The audience and the individual decides what it is really about. And that is what art is about. The rest is propaganda or in nowaday terms: public relations.
I like your comment. I wasn't sure what to make of the video. But, I liked it.
Lovely. There's an eerie beauty to this, between the dilapidation of the building, and the unearthliness of the choreography. I'm so glad I saw this!

Her control gives me chills, I could feel it. It is so powerful! Amazing job done by everyone.. Please keep them coming.
Now that's what I call a performing 'arts' piece. Where dance became one with the environment in was created within.
This was incredible, strange, breathtaking, thought provoking, weird, raw, and just downright awesome.
ORIGINAL!!!!! th-cam.com/video/CAAYiZwgAFc/w-d-xo.html
Прекрасно передан характер, инстинктивное поведение ворона, все телодвижения, повадки. М образом балерина справилась великолепно. Браво!
Рисунок яркий, техничный. справились хорошо
The relationship between the dancer and the environment was perfect.

The choreography is so amazing, because the only details they gave is the title and still we understand the dance and it's story. So talented.
I am not really into contemporary dance, but that was beautiful, easy to understand between the dance and music. Dorothea is amazing!! Hope I spelled her name right.

isn't this modern dance or am i wrong.. ?
LuLu Bell sorry but I don't understand, can you explain me?
@@danikasan7308 You are correct. This is modern dance.

Super original, super beau! Bravo la danseuse! Toutes mes félicitations ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽💛🧡❤️💛🧡❤️
As both a dancer and choreographer myself this piece has definitely inspired me. I loved how the dancer used her settings and interacted with them, and also how the choreographer used those interactions throughout the piece to help grasp a better understanding and appreciation for the piece.
All in all, I say it's beautifully constructed. Well done.
Spectacular in every way - the dancing, the choreography, the setting, the cinematography - FABULOUS!!!❤
Music, choreography, location, wardrobe, and so much more...this is amazing work. Beautiful.
When art is meant to be unsettling……and it did
This speaks to me. The interpretation, I'm sure isn't meant to be clearly understood, but definitely makes you feel. The pain is clearly seen. Beautiful dancing with beautiful display of emotion.
Someone else said that it was a bird specifically a raven who died from being exposed to lead. it poison them.
I love the way she does everything.
Absolutely stunning! The emotion, the flow of the moves the connection the dancer had with the choreography and with the audience! I love that scenery btw and that incredibly beautiful dress.
It felt like she's doing some witch and magic stuff, for example, that right now she'll open a portal to a different world. So great!!!
3:40 is me when I have to wake up early and go to school.

Fantastic. Spent a good portion of my career lighting dance and have a great love of really good choreography and dancers. Interesting use of shots and composition as well. Thank you.
A dream within a dream, this is so incredibly amazing!
This was very moving. The paint chips worked well. The location, dancer, it's all gorgeous. I overlayed the dance with Verve's Bittersweet Symphony, and it gave the song a new feel. Plus, I love crows and ravens. I was thinking about it before the shot of the bird came up. The choreography and clothing did a really good job conveying it in a way that was accessible but not too overt. Well done and thank you for sharing your work. 💚💜
I don't usually go for modern dance because I tend to quickly lose focus and attention on it, but this choreography and dancing, combined with the music, was so interesting and satisfying in some way as to keep my eye glued and not want to miss a moment; I am hereby moved.
This is the most beautiful ritual I've ever seen in my entire life 😢
This video is absolutely stunning, she conveyed the message well in her dance.
More than once my humble cottage visited by a dying raven, to share its wisdom, to seek of mine, I know not. In the morning one found lying among the peppermint, another chose to rest under a juniper, I then placed them with the spirits of the forest. Thank you for this beautiful ceremony
1:11 that crow perfectly captured my reaction to this
Wow! She Painted Our Inner Break-Downs So Inhumanly Through Her Every Inch Of Performance😌
She is a medium for this beautiful dark energy....
wow. I loved this. Moving. She has amazing control.
I feel relieved after watching this
Yes anxiety and sadness at some of her dance forms she paints w her hands and her feet and in begining almost forms wings of the crow it's really magestic but sad, she's a good inturprative dancer though
All composition is perfect: choreography, music, the place, light! Amazing work! Thanks for this beautiful gift! The world need art!
There's an eerie alluring bleak beauty to this dance; really expressive. Very well choreographed and danced
The walls are painted but color, life and movement only survive outside. The inside is dying. Walls are like a cage with no path to resilience.
Art speaks when words fail.

It's so incredible what they can do with their bodies!! Wow!!
This is the proof that dance can be everything, as long as there is some music in the background
I would love to watch this in reverse mode, but original soundtrack. Awesome beautiful and strong!!! Thanks for sharing!

Freedom to Express through movement...priceless.

Wow! What an incredible piece of choreography, wonderfully danced & beautifully filmed. Well done to all involved.
Absolutely mesmerizing!
Utterly striking. What an incredible performer, performance and production.
Many works of art are casually called beautiful, but this work IS beautiful and wonderful! Bravo!
This dance feels like Im reading a story on its conflict and climax. You just brought me between my 2 passions: to dance and to write.
Kyle Angel we appreciate sensitive viewers like yourself. Please do both: dance and write, they were the two very pressing needs that created this piece.
Ive been searching for something uniquely beautiful since waking. Ty, now i can die now
am I the only one who was bothered by the chipping paint and had the urge to rip it off

It reminded me of Coraline
I was thinking that it might be dangerous to inhale the particles after tiny pieces got chipped off
That's Part Of what the Video supposedly delivers. I guess.
How the heck anyone can get meaning other than a wonderful dance is beyond me.
This is incredible! 💗 Her movements are like the bird... it is stunning... the frequent flashes between human and bird reminds me of The Crow - almost supernatural and a little terrifying?! Great directing and dancing!
Impressive, dark yet inspiring!!! So much intrinsic power... "all ee see and what we seem is but a dream within a dream" e.a. poe...
For me this is the most penetrating, raw choreography ever. Totally feeling the raven eve down to her style of black dress and every body movement.
And the background music is spot-on. I would love to perform that dance. The crow is so pre- historic.
Really great. Thanks for sharing with us all.🦅
The song is perfect, the choreography is perfect, the whole thing is just perfect

amazing location, where did you film that?
and how was it? just getting inside an abandoned place or you needed some kind of permit?
cheers!

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
You figure it out, Lucas.
I don't know about this specific location, but in my experience in production these types of locations are generally old warehouses in places likes trainyards that see little to no use, but are still owned (usually by a single person or as an asset by a much larger organization, not usually anything in between). It can be pretty difficult to make contact with the owner to get permission to shoot here, but often times they are happy to make a bit of money off a building they are not making any profit from. Pretty damn difficult to just sneak in shoot though, they are usually locked up tight to prevent vandalism, and trying to go unnoticed as a film crew is pretty much impossible.
