Tom fishes with a lot of confidence - reminds me of Todd Young (masterful caster (Australian champion) and top all round freshwater angler who sadly passed away at such a young age. Had the pleasure to fish with him for bass and trout when I was in my teens).
@@franksaunders6534 Have just Google searched Todd Young - his website is still up: www.younggunsfishingadventures.com/todd-young-bio.html#/ - quite confronting to know that he has passed away, but that his bio is still available, and frozen in time - RIP Todd ❤️ It really struck me how deliberate Tom Jarman is with his casting - before he casts he already has an idea where he wants to place the fly, where his leader & tippet should be in relation to the fly, and what drift he wants to achieve - a true master of our wonderful art - the say was a masterclass in top level flyfishing…
I cannot believe how much stuff you guys have on your vests etc. It's crazy. Why do you need all that stuff. Bum bag for most of our stuff. Dry fly lessons??? It's just fishing, so many try to make it a science, it's not. 10 foot 3wt...... 3-4WT seven footer is plenty for that place and accurate.
@@qeull Yeah - I agree - I am amazed at how simple Tom’s setup on the river was - he carries so much less junk compared to me and all of the other attendees - I was a Boy Scout, and maybe I took “be prepared” a bit too seriously - thanks for your valuable commentary…
@@robertlouis24 All good. It's a minimalist set up for myself and friends. Only what we will need for the day. If I do decide to take a bite to eat then it's a very small backpack with a handful of flies, spare leaders and 3 snake bandages. Many times I watch guys mucking around with all the stuff they have on them and come to the conclusion that's it's simply a distraction and time consuming, ditto for fishos who do dozens of false casts before the fly gets to the water, again more wasted time. You can actually get so besotted with all the stuff you can get these days that one forgets about the real objective and that's to concentrate on the fishing not the gear.
Thanks mate, gave me a great laugh for breakfast 😂
Nice work Robert!!! Some great info, was fun to watch and entertaining!
@@aaronbowie7368 Hopefully something a bit different Aaron…
Such a fun time with you on the water!
How generous free fishing lessons

@@mtkenza7584 Thanks Matt - he is a great guy - maybe we need to head to the Otways in Victoria together and fish with him…
😂 enjoyed the intro 👍
Haha, nice mate! Only one thing, it was a Sydney Flyrodders event, not NSW Rodfishers.... 😆
@@PeachyFlyFishing My bad - yes, a Sydney Flyrodders Event…
I don’t think that Tom was convinced as to the accuracy of the water temperature tool.
@@LochTaupo No, he was totally not convinced! But, I am pretty sure that the reading was acurate…
