I've got the solo spring seat with forward controls, z bars, and short shots. I love it! Going look into options for a removable 2 up seat, maybe with sissy bar. I like these videos a lot because they make you feel confident in doing your own modifications! Can't wait for more!
i know you guys choose the sportster partly due to the customization but i would love to see a series like this but with the indian scout as it is also a very customizable bike

That Roland Sands saddle looked the best on the bike... the two tone matched the rear shocks nicely.

For the more larger sized rider (for that particular bike), I would place a sissy bar with a backrest, still places a cool factor and safety for that lovely lady who enjoys going for rip down the road also.

I purchased the Mustang Solo Day Tripper from you guys last week for my 2016 Iron and I really like it. It looks better than the stock seat and the stock seat gave me terrible pain in my tailbone after about 20 minutes in the saddle. You did not mention it, but Mustang has a matching pillon, giving the option of style and passenger carrying ability. Great video as always Lemmy!
I know this is way later than your original post but I would really like to know what your opinions are about the mustang tripper solo, and also if you ended up getting the passenger pillion as well. I am really looking at getting one but there are no reviews on how comfortable it really is. Also how long can you ride on it before it starts to become uncomfortable.

How's the high speeds as a bigger guy on an 883? I know it won't affect top speed but you and a rider definitely drags. I've felt it as a big guy on my iron, I noticed the stage 1 definitely puts some more umph into the take off.
Have you changed seat and shocks?

Great review, Ive also been trying to find a seat for my sportster, one i can ride all day in, ive tried quite a few, lepera silhouette which looks great but was too narrow to be comfortable, saddlemen dominator which i couldnt stand as the internal mount for the back brace kept smashing my tailbone, currently im running a mustang tripper, best so far but id love to hear of something better

Those 2-up seats are fine if your pillion rider is around 100 lbs. much bigger and that's just not gonna work. Of course, if that's the case then the 883 ain't the bike you need to be riding anyway. :)

So I purchased the mustang solo tripper for my 2016 Iron 883 thanks to the recommendation from this video. I love but I have one issue... the seat mount hole doesn’t exactly line up on the bolt to screw it down. The bracket is a bit too long. I have tried like hell to get it to line up but it won’t. Any suggestions?
You should be able to adjust the length of the mounting bracket on the underside of the seat by loosening, adjusting the tab, and retightening the two bolts that hold the mounting tab to the seat. -DrewZilla

I have a 2016 48 Sportster and have a stock seat. I want a seat where I can sit more forward. Any suggestions? Changing the forward controls to mid would be expensive?
You can easily get a set of stock mid-controls on eBay for about $200 in really great condition. The stock seat is already about as low and forward as you can go, but here are a few options that might keep you from sliding back. If you're comfortable with the reach to the bars, I recommend looking for some used mids. -DrewZilla

Does anybody know if there is a single rider seat with a backrest for a Sportster? I'm not an owner but I'm looking at buying one for longer rides and I want a backrest. I would also like to make it a mild bobber if you guys have any recommendations for that. Thanks!

Does anyone know if there are seats out there that have storage/extra space underneath them. My problem is after I installed LED glow lights on my bike, the wiring barley fit under the seat. Now I just bought an alarm system but there's no space for it or it's wiring. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey I think you'll be perfectly fine on an iron. But you are definitely going to want to get forward controls on it. I am 5 7 and I have forward controls on my Harley Sportster 1200 custom and I still wish I had more room to stretch my legs out. So I can only imagine being 6ft and having mid controls probably not the most comfortable thing.

Lemmy, regarding size. How tall are you and what's roughly your weight? I'm a big dude myself and it's good to not see just the 150lbs skinny kids on the bikes, but I hope to get some idea to see how it would match for me.

Lemmy is six feet tall and just a bit north of 250 lbs. As for the Covert Riding Shirt, it does fit true to size, and you shouldn't need to size up for the armor. -DrewZilla
getting that exhaust side on for the footpegs is a bitch with stock pipes. I bet it was way easier with the exhaust setup on that iron.
Great video! I've recently moved to a new Forty Eight and am looking for a couple more inches of leg room. being 5' 11", sporty probably wasn't the best choice but I am more comfy on a smaller bike having been brought up on dirt bikes my whole life. what can you recommend that would give me a couple more inches without losing the vintage solo seat look.
harley used to make a "further forward" control kit for the Sportsters, or just add a moustache bar it's an engine guard with foot rests set up on the top side.

How do you make the turn lights stay on Solid?
Because the Iron 883 only has two lights, the two rear lights already function as running, brake, and turn signals. This is stock for the Iron 883. For bikes with two turn signals and a separate brake light, we offer the following modules. -DrewZilla

we probably have many harley/ cruiser riders here, does anyone know any bike similar to the v-rod/ night rod but with sharper corners and edges like some night rod customs?
