Considering this was made and released in 1986, there was nothing like this record out at the time... Dave Mustaine was way ahead of his time, despite his rampant drug abuse. This was the music he was coming up w/ when the big albums were Bon Jovi's 'Slippery when wet' ... Journey's 'Raised on radio'... Ratt's 'Dancing undercover'... Whitesnake's 'Slide it in'... Megadeth sounded like no one else out there, including Metallica.
Killing Is My Business was my first introduction to them. But, like most people who hear Megadeth for the first time, I didn't get it at first. Then this album dropped and I heard Peace Sells for the first time. It was all over with from that point forward. It's funny how this song was so pivotal in me becoming a diehard fan. But, yet! Now, it's not even in my Top 5 from them. Maybe not even in my Top 10. But, it's still nothing short of a classic. Any Metal band, that you could name, would kill to have this song be their only hit. It's a career making song. It made Megadeth.
Very insightful and considerate of the lyrics and music. These were among some of the greatest musicians and song writers of their era. I only hope now people begin to see exactly why metal was demonized and marginalized in the mainstream despite the brilliance behind their music and lyrics. They all have a message we needed to hear. The power that be didn't want you listening. Glad you guys are seeing it for what it is and resurrecting it for future generations to seee and hear. If you think it was bad then, it's REALLY bad now. Theyve all but stamped this type music from existence. Most of todays music is music made to sell records and tickle the ear of the simple minded. Bring back real music with a real message that took real talent of multiple musicians to create. Betcha none of these songs were tapped out in 30 minutes on a computer.

I was 13 when thrash started and 16 when this came out and you said a mouthful when you said "voice of a generation" - great analysis and insight. There will always be angst amongst the younger as they grow up and this was my time - it carried into the early 90's for me culminating in Pantera - tell me Phil isn't the pure definition of angst - with iron will! The big 4 and Maiden are the soundtrack to my youth!

I kept listening, and I saw what was said about churches and such. You have to follow your heart. Faith is very personal and their is no man alive that can tell you how to have a relationship with God. What they did was wrong. I believe in God and Jesus too, with all my heart. There are alot of people out there who call themselves Christian but are hateful, and that's not what God and Jesus are about. It's not about judgment and condemnation, it's about kindness, love, and something bigger than yourself to help you when you need it. Oh... and I am a huge metal head too. ;) I'm subbing after all of this. You two are so damn awesome!
It’s cool that you’re reviewing this song, to me as a 50 year old I realize that this story is as old as time. Anything that can be used to manipulate the public will be used, weather it’s god, peace,economy,racial, gender…you’re sense of what’s right will be used against you.

Tasha saying how she stopped going to church cos she "didn't like those people anyway" (brutal honesty!), calling them "little demons themselves", LOL!! That was awesome, and SO TRUE! It's so often the case, people who virtue signal through endless preaching/pontificating, and church attendance are usually frauds with something to hide. I liked what she said about NATURE being the TRUE "house of the lord". I am not particularly religious or spiritual, but if I were to ever embark on some spiritual odyssey, NATURE is where I would turn, not any man-made religion or "house of the holy".

You have to understand, this was heavy metal in its early days. The songwriters were writing about the climate in America and the world. Drugs and alcohol. World peace and discord. Nuclear holocaust. It was a scary time to try and predict politicians. So our heroes were bands that gave us an outlet. Love Megadeth and all the bands from the'80's.
My favorite band for 30 years until The Warning came along. Apples to oranges but that's just how great The Warning is. EVOLVE official or the live at Teatro CDMX would be great start.
