There is a lot of really good information in this podcast, and I love hearing Dr. Gill's story. We need more doctors and health care practitioners to wake up to lifestyle medicine. One point I disagree with is the "one sized fits all approach" to anti-inflammatory foods. What I have come to know is that what causes inflammation in one person, is not the same as what causes inflammation in another. Why? Because our biochemistry, genetic make up and microbiome are all unique to us. Instead of focusing on a generic list of ‘anti-inflammatory’ foods, it’s more important to understand how specific foods impact your system. This personal approach--which is more in line with the burgeoning field of personalized medicine--is how we make real strides in performance and long-term health.
Plant based pot luck get together are a great idea. Ask everyone to print out several copies of the recipe they are bringing. In that way, people get to try new plant based foods and go home with some new recipes.
not crazy about this woman. she's too liberal, needs to just tell people, no, you can't just change your diet, yet sit there watching tv all day, and expect reaults. They are discussing pain with being overweight. How do you explain pain in those already on healthy plant based who are NOT overweight?
I understand frustration about wanting advice for people with an already healthy weight. I've always been a healthy weight even when I had crappy food habits. I've had multiple doctors tell me, "Well normally I would tell a patient in your situation to lose weight. But, I think you shouldn't try to lose weight." And, then they stare at me silently as if I'm the one who is supposed to provide a solution to the reason for my visit. Like all they know is to tell people to lose weight. Oh, that really erks me. Not only did I waste my money and my time, but it's so difficult to find answers on my own. Even though I can't always find the exact info I'm looking for, I am super grateful for content providers like Physicians Committee, Chef AJ, etc.

She's not saying a plant based diet solves everything, just that for most people it makes things better.
It is sad how society tends to assume a person of healthy weight has no pain or fewer health issues, when it is not always the case.
Best anti-inflammatory food is beef.
