Hey great video. I wanted to add one thing for those of you interested in the inovelli switches. You mentioned they dont shut the power off when in a certain mode but this doesn’t fully explain their usefulness. Im sure you’ll cover this in the video about them you mention but just to get it out there for somebody watching this video instead of shutting the power off on a down press or turning on the power on an up press they will send a trigger event to home assistant to do with as you please. In most cases turning the lights on or off via home assistant script so they don’t loose track of their state and remain powered. None the less awesome video. I happened to purchase one of these for testing today. Also for anybody looking at inovelli switches they are fantastic along with the support of the folks who make them. A little pricey but worth it in my opinion.
Great point, Pinning this so others see it! Yes the relay disable is a game changer when combined with smart bulbs and home assistant for the reasons you mention. Glad it's working out for you as well as it is for me, loving the product and the company!
Excellent that's what I'm always hoping for with these...basically show what works when it does, and if it doesn't help others work through things. But this integration is just really well done...and now that you have HACs, there's a ton more you can do!
The #1 thing you need to have for wiz bulbs (or anything using wifi) is a good wifi AP. The home combo router / AP you get from your provider is not good for IoT. They limit the number of connected devices (I had Motorola surfboard and shocjly only allowed like 25 connected device). So if your lights are dropping its because your router is kicking it off. Move to a mesh AP or prosumer grade AP like ubiquiti and this problem dissappear. I have no issues with connectivity and I have over 30+ lights
Yes exactly! Even with one of the spendier linksys systems I had issues with lights and just overall wifi dropping, but with a mesh network that resolved it. I should've mentioned that, thankyou that's a great point!
@@abdullahal-shimri3091 Absolutely! I'm using a TPLink system (amzn.to/3puCqNd). @@geektoolkit I am using SmartThings for my hub. I am glad to hear that you're using Innovelli. I heard about the Innovelli ability to disable the internal relay (and thereby keep the wiz bulb on) and use the functions of the Innovelli dimmer/switch to control light levels and on/off state. I have the Innovelli switches but haven't had a chance to try them out yet. Seems like you got the whole thing working! I should add I have one Leviton Smart paddle switch for my outdoor light (which is an A100 superbright color wiz bulb). I agree with others Wiz bulbs are having difficulties with the wifi but if your system is good and you have plenty of signal it will be fine. i use a mikrotik cloud core router with 9 cores at 1ghz and a UBNT ac access point (for now).
i don't have the file editor, how can i get that tab?
file editor is from the addon store. I have a tutorial series that goes through my setup, but for that one the addon store has it.
I love wiz it cheap and works great
I still love them...just need to get more! lol
was trying to focus on the good information in this video... but kept watching the video game in the background the whole time.
Ah good feedback. I was trying to have a fun background but I’ll keep it static next time. We’re you able to figure out the game?
@@geektoolkit no, just kept wishing the character could get higher without falling. "oooh... oooo... oh!... awwwww."
Lol!!! I’ll have to watch it closer. I picked a game from my childhood and just let it play as background effects. That was an old dos game from ID software by John Carmack and Romero. Before they became famous for a few other games :)
Dude. Thanks. Subscribed.
Thanks for the support!!
¿ could that background gameplay be "rick dangeous" ? 🤪
Good guess!!! I believe that was commander keen though!
Thanks man! I was blocked for hours
Glad to help!
This guy's been around women too much and just cannot get to the point so thumbs down
