if not planned yet, maybe one episode about integrating "old" smart home Wifi & Bluetooth devices to your Home Assistant controlled Smart Home, while also reducing some of the security vulnerabilities. reasoning beeing, that some might have started with these 'bad' low-cost and Wifi/BT smart home devices and want to upgrade to HA with zigbee or zwave
Nice video. But is there any other cheaper bulb alternative to Philips Hue that can be used along with this Sonoff Hub in a fully local environment? Thanks
Is it working in the same wave with Ikea Tardfri? I’m looking for integrations like a ,,normal” Switch in my wall and also Switch on/off in my Homeassistant
You certainly can, you can run it either as a virtual machine in Windows, or as a Docker container - although it's worth noting that by running it on your main PC, if your PC goes to sleep or is switched off, your home automations will stop working and you won't be able to control your devices through it. Hence the recommendation of using a device like a Raspberry Pi that can be on 24/7 without much issue.
I reset my hue bulb w a dimmer switch, it blinked a few times so I am pretty sure it worked. Then inside of HA, I clicked my ZigBee add device, its not finding it. The bulb is on a lamp in the same table as the HA Green. Ive added other Zigbee devices no problem. Any ideas?
This is a interesting series and for me very topical as I currently have an IOT module in my final year at uni. The functionality aspects are very simple but the security aspects… well, they don’t seem to get much attention.
Well it looks like I need to upgrade my unraid server after reading about yours on your website. Mine only has 58 terabytes, dual 10tb parity, a 1950X threadripper on a ROG Zenith Extreme mobo.

Silly question but can this be done, just from my main windows PC, like as an app not an OS?

@@TechteamGB or run docker VM in a Synology NAS - as my nas is on 24/7
