I appreciate how your reasoning for the vasectomy was to take the onus of birth control off of your wife and put it on yourself. I never really considered this and I and don't why I didn't as this makes a ton of sense. It makes much more sense to take this approach and seems to be the easiest, safest, and most effective for both parties. Thanks for this video.
It’s great to hear that it sparked a new perspective for you too. I think it’s important that we, as partners, share the responsibility in ways that are safest and most effective for everyone involved. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment!
both my uncles did this (one of them had a 3rd suprise 😅) and had no idea you’re awake watching the whole thing go down, that’s wild! But after seeing this, can’t believe how fast and easy it was. Respect for this video man!
Really appreciate your perspective on this. For us, our thinking was largely the same. We have three amazing kids and all three pregnancies were incredibly difficult for my wife. For us, we'd love to foster or adopt one day and see our family grow through other means, but we wanted to do whatever we could to lock-in at three biological kids. I wasn't going to ask her to go through a much more risky and complicated surgery, nor was I going to ask her to take a daily pill that dramatically affects her hormones for the rest of her life. After what she went through for our kids, a vasectomy was the least I could do. My procedure was not as painless as yours, but it was fast! I was so relieved after it was done. The next 24 hours were the worst but after 2 or 3 days, it really wasn't bad at all. Has been worth it for sure.
Over two years since, best decision for my family. Recovery wasn’t too bad at all. Some sort of cradling underwear are a must though! But was normal for me as I wear compression as it is. No issues at all!
thanks for the video I am currently awaiting my consult later this month after having my second child. Hope I have your experience and it isn't too painful
Oh man. We have 3 kids now and every birth has risked my wife's life in different ways. We did Natural Family planning in the past to keep from getting pregnant until we were ready. That being said, after baby number 3, we are considering having this done to me so that one mistake doesn't put her life at risk again.
I really respect men stepping up on this. I feel like most men put pressure on the woman to either take pills, IUD, Nexplanon, etc. it makes us feel less stressed whether or not we took a pill, etc. Even better, it doesn’t mess up our hormones which are a really important part of our lives, emotions, even physical health! Thank you for putting a light on this. Pokemane made good points despite her attitude about it. We need more people like you. Helps us women not expect men to be primal monkeys who don’t think about women as much 🙈🙊✨
My good friend just recovered from a large, apple sized hematoma in his scrotum after a vasectomy. It’s super uncommon and he’s almost fully recovered but it took over 6 months and he had a lot of pain and discomfort and also a giant third testicle for quite a while haha. It’s super rare, but poor bloke!
Walking out and getting into the car was actually fine since the numbing was still active. After it wore off when I got home, that's when I felt the soreness kick in. I was diligent about icing and I didn't really take any pain killers beyond the first couple hours. Any time I walked, it was more of a waddle for a couple days.
I did not watch, did no scalpel but with lidocaine for me didn't work super well and I felt the dr pull my vas out of my scrote like pulling a hose out of a reel with vigor. He reshot me up with lidocaine. Finished up OK (flesh burning was crazy) and was able to walk out and relax for a few days. Recovery on day 4 i felt good and walked around like normal all day and exercised lightly, and that was a bad idea, ended up in pain for longer. Its now 4 years later... i have some issues where I get epididymitis occasionally (painful like blue balls pain/infection for a week or so), getting rechecked for that finally next week because my urologist closed their office, and its actually tough to get a urologist to see you for a vasectomy they didn't perform (i never got the second test done, but at home test showed infertile as well).
everything is working fine. Get really horny and get blue balls and suffer for several days. This process slowly kills off the testicle. Eventually you don't feel much anymore as the testicle dies off and shrinks. There goes your testosterone too and all the side effects that come with low T. So then you have to get horomone replacement and deal with all the problems that come with that.
For me, I have no feeling of emasculation. Regardless of what my future holds, I feel a sense of finality to this chapter of bearing littles after having three, and happiness that I can have intercourse without the risk of more kids entering the fold. I (we) don't feel capable of being able to handle more so this was the right path for us. I understand many may differ, but that's what I've felt personally.
So the question is what happens to the sperm the testes produces once you are clipped. It backs up and gives you blue balls for a while. Eventually it destroys the testes and you get ball shrinkage where your balls kind of die off. As the balls die off so goes the testosterone and so goes your health.
@@dadverb How long do your balls ache or stay extremely sensitive? Jerking off don't fix that as the sperm can't get out of the testicle. This is what is known as blue balls. That back pressure from sperm build up restricts blood flow starts to kill off the testicle over time. The testicle shrinks as it dies off and don't work anymore. At this point a vasectomy is not reversable as it has killed off the testicle. Yeah the body aborbs the dead tissue and dead sperm.
Valid point. The urologist will usually have a detailed sit-down to ensure that this is truly the decision you and your partner want. Reversals are possible in some cases but it might not be for everyone.
Store some sperm at a fertility lab. Think about this: birth control for your woman means pills every day - every month - every year and it can be hard to find a birth control pill that is compatible with your body. An IUD can be painful to insert (they always say "oh - just take some tylenol") and complications can occur. Women going thru infertility treatments have to take SO MANY SHOTS to get their hormones in the right cycle, shots to make lots of eggs ripen, another shot to slow things down, and then they have go through egg retrieval (not fun) before the eggs are stored - frozen. You guys can store several vials of sperm with little effort (you do have to pay for cold storage).
Personally I think the burden of birth control is always levied upon our partners. Tubal ligations are more expensive, require anesthesia, have longer recovery time and are slightly less effective among other things. After my wife went to bat for three kids and dealt with a lot over the last decade, I wanted to be the one to do this.
This is true. But face it - the procedures for you guys to store sperm for later use or getting snipped is SO MUCH LESS INVASIVE than what women are expected to endure. Hey - you could just use a condom! Nothing to reverse if you want to have another baby. That's easy.
Hope this video helps you guys. Or scares you. I don't know.

Thanks man! Yeah super quick and simple. It was definitely more nerve-wracking during the lead-up than the actual procedure itself.

I forgot to mention I did wear compressions for added support. Thanks for that mention.
I had this procedure done I don’t regret it at all. I have 3 amazing boys. Do it if you need it.

Oh no man, that's a terribly unfortunate. Super rare, but a risk nonetheless.
