Wow, what an epic campsite. Having a capable overland rig definitely helps to get to those places that are a bit further out and less likely to be occupied. That hill climb looked pretty cool too, things on video tend to not look as challenging as they do in real life but that hill looked pretty steep and very bumpy.

Really nice vid. I commented on Manzanar below - very nicely done. Alabama Hills is a real pleasant surprise and super easy to access. Just like you did, we typically stay in that area when passing up the Eastern Sierras. That view from the bench is fantastic - Death Valley to your East and the Sierras rising up behind you while you sit on a bench dotted with round rocks and grass. Reubens Mug - goes with the Glass - right on! That black folding stool - we have used ours for >15 years - very handy as a seat, a step up and even a table Did that Moto have ski poles sticking out the back? Really like that you have shots with Christine driving. Your vids are a nice demonstration of diversity. I also like that you have varying equipment levels - you don't really need much to get out and I think the majority of YTs make it seem way too equipment intensive for a newbie
Couldn't agree more about not needing much to get out and explore. Personally, I think some YT channels do "overlanding" a disservice by making people believe you can't drive down a fire road without a $100k fully built rig and ALL the gear.
We’ve been itching to get down to Alabama Hills, we were suppose to camp there last year but had to change plans because of wildfires. Great video y’all! Appreciated the highlight of the Manzanar camp.
Thanks! Alabama Hills is a lot of fun. Crowded....but that just makes finding a quiet campsite more of an adventure! I wasn't sure what people would think about the Manzanar piece....but I'm a history geek, so I couldnt leave it out.

Over the last couple decades I've visited 3 or 4 other internment sites and most are in really sad, forgotten and neglected shape, some with not much more than a rusty old sign showing the former layout - their treatment a testament to our shame & erasure. My Mom was looking for a pitstop when we spotted Manzanar. What a beautiful and thoughtful tribute. I always recommend it to anyone passing through. I found it very moving. You did a very nice job - though I think some footage of the front patio with the physical representations of the different camps with their size an location would have been a good piece of film - it's one of my strongest memories of our visit.
I wish I could answer that, but honestly we made so many turns and snaked around so many times trying to find a non-occupied spot that I don't really know where we were. Plus we were following someone else. All I CAN tell you is that we made a right turn off of Movie Road to being that campsite quest.
For the most part, I'd say yes. There might be a few little offshoots & spurs with rutted hill climbs that could be tough for an Outback, but I'd wager you could easily tackle 90% of what we saw when we were there.
