Man Pitou was just born, then proceeded to: Convert the local traitor Lobotomise a guy And kill one of the strongest dudes we ever met All in a nights work
My joy at that prediction cannot be described. I was so happy at their raw confidence that he wouldn't get off-screened. And their reactions at him getting ABSOLUTELY off-screened were priceless.
bro had his narcissism and vast illusions of grandeur obliterated into subatomic particles just by a character EXISTING around him for less than 5 minutes...
Whats even darker about Pokkle and the meat pellets is that in the manga, it was so much more BRUTAL. You could see visible eyes and hair on the meat pellets. As for Pokkle, he was brutally chopped up by the pig chef. So this tame in comparison.
This episode is a master class in setting the tone for an arc. We are dealing with monsters in every sense of the word, no one is safe, and every mistake might be lethal. The kid gloves are off, welcome to peak.
One thing I love about this arc (and apparently Alicia and Azu vehemently disagree with x.x) is that I love that, for once, finally, our boys are on the back foot. Let's be honest, Gon and Killua, tiny babies that have barely gotten past the age of ten, with less than a year of training have been taking on and winning against people who spent _decades_ learning and mastering Nen until this point. Wing said their talent was amazingly rare, some of the most talented humans ever and that is great, but I like that instead of once again going against someone who's studied Nen for a century and somehow winning, we now are on the opposite side of things: what will they do when, for once, they fight against something that has _more_ natural talent than they do? I think it's a great opportunity to show what all that training was for. We already know that their training plus their insane talent means they can defeat people who have infinitely more training than they do, but just less talent for using Nen... Well, what happens now, when the only advantage they have is that they do have training, but the enemies, for once in their lives, are the ones who are faster to learn things?
@@shuiveri5782 both of them have, just not on Nen, at all. That's kind of my whole point. Gon had trained Nen for literally zero time at all when he managed to get a Zetsu good enough to fool Hisoka. Imagine how many thousands of gruelling training hours someone without his talent would need to achieve that. We've seen what they do against "normal" (or at least "normaler" than them) people. What do they do when, for once, they're not the genius on the field?
@@mordirit8727 I can remember being a little frustrated that it felt like the power scale was arbitrarily getting stronger, but I think that's part of the intended first-time experience. Everything you said about the power dynamics flipping feels like a classic Shonen cop-out until the extensiveness of this arc really becomes apparent, the scales aren't just rising, we've reached the point where we're competing with the top 0.001% of humanity. It's all just more set-up for when the REAL story starts post-anime, should start being animated sometime around the end of Two Piece.
Legitimately Gon has quite possibly never failed at anything it his life. Nevver not just been able to force his way through on guts. He has no mechanism to cope with it.
“At least he’s drugged up, so he can’t feel much” well 🙂 in the manga he wasn’t stuttering, he was grunting from pain, so. Safe to say he WAS feeling much 🙂
This series of episodes was my favorite to rewatch with a friend, because the entire lead-up to Pitou jumping in to attack, the whole episode, he wouldn't stop talking about how Kite was his favorite character, and how Kite is so cool, and how much he likes Kite, and I was just sitting there, on Discord, with the biggest shit-eating grin on my face. Like, he legit thought that Kite was going to survive the fight with Pitou. The fool.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALICIA! Neferpitou's entrance kinda reminds me of games that introduces end game bosses right after the tutorial. guide: tutorial's over, now RUN! **boss shows up with overwhelming momentum**
Yeah, Yoshihiro Togashi really did use Kite to be like "Hey you know how our boys have been getting so strong, and even pros have been praising them? Here's a guy that makes them look like the children they are when things get rough, aaaaand he's dead offpanel/screen just to show you that the Royal Guards break pretty much all your previous conceptions about Nen power scaling." Chimera Ants arc does not fuck around, and Togashi seemed to want to make that crystal clear with Kite. Which really makes you appreciate the "we cannot afford any Nen users who are not strong enough to even attempt to step foot inside this battlefield" mentality, without such a traumatic experience it would not resonate the same for the bullheaded Gon and any readers/watchers with similar Goku-esq assumptions about shonen story arcs and fights.
Apparently, Togashi has said in an interview that he writes his story with the intent to kill the MC, which shows in how badly Gon gets beat up every time. And I think it also menifests in how gruesomely creative some of the antagonists are! Ofc RIP Kite, but Porkle went out in a WAY more horrifying fashion, even if Kites death was more shocking!
thats one of my favorite parts about nen, MASSIVE POWER can be defeated by correct use of weaker power. its not unassailable but with proper self work you can make something extremely focused or extremely versatile. hisoka has like 3 basic powers but theyre all so versatile he's a monster, meanwhile the ants born with no techniques or training grasp its use and have peak physical
The brain cannot feel pain. If I were to guess, he either died and was puppeted, or was unconscious due to the pain of opening his skull, then died because of blood loss.
Pitou is my favorite hxh character for so many reasons. I love how they start off as such a terrifying op antagonist but then go through so much character development that leaves them a completely different person by the climax of the arc. Togashi really pulled off writing a character/villain who’s both funny and cute while also being so creepy and threatening. That and I just really love their design.
I wonder how Alicia will feel about the mini training arc we're about to have, it's not long, but I know some people end up finding it quite slow especially since it's packed between pretty hype parts of the overall arc.
Craziest thing about Kite was that he was keeping his En active for close to two days while that technique is described as more exhausting than Ren. So he was probably very good at limiting his aura expenditure to the utmost minimum at full efficiency, and he still lost.
ahh, Pitou, the most terrifying genderless catthing you will ever have the displeasure of meeting...my beloved. our Kite stocks are in shambles, though, shame about that
hello Alicia, ti stimo tantissimo, mi porti sempre il sorriso e sapere che ogni giorno ci sei per farmi compagni mi rischiara la giornata (is in Italian pls translate)
It is crazy how fast you got through all those episodes girl...Welcome, let's mourn together for the best Big Bro in Early HunterxHunter chimera ants arc..😢
Interesting fact about the ants: with the sole exception of the Queen, every single ant you ever see is a male, biologically speaking. Now, the arc is a bit of a gold mine for the concept of transexual life, since a lot of these ants were imbued with the memories and genetic imprint of females, a _lot_ of them look a lot like women, act like women, feel like women and even identify as women... But yeah, every single last one of them is a male. From what we know, the only chimera ant capable of producing a female ant is the King and the Squadron Leaders. They spread out after a King is born and "copulate" with other species. The offspring of that action is always a female, a new Queen. The queens are only capable of producing males, that was the point of the scene where the ladybug was crawling on Kite team's laptop. So yeah, Pitou is a genetic male, same goes for the cutsey girl with the lion guy or the scorpion lady Zazan. You're more than welcome to refer to them as all as girls since, you know, they act, look and even internally feel like women, but they are all males, from a strictly genetic point of view.
I don't know where you get your info from, but most of the ants a person sees are female. Male ants, are called drones, they do not perform any work in the colony and their only job is to fertilize the queen ant so she can lay eggs and support the population in the nest. So I don't think real life Ant Biology applies to Chimera Ants because we do see a lot of female ants and male ants
I just use gender-neutral terms for Pitou. It reconciles conflating arguments for either side, and realistically they wouldn't care anyway. They just want to fight strong people and carry out the will and protection of the reigning Chimera Ant monarch.
It kinda sucks how the anime made kite's death do predictable by having him give ging's license to gon suddenly with violins and shit in the background
Kites now ahead of the rest... Kites death is certainly how I first realized that I might start wanting to run from what ever BS happens when Gon finally knows the truth. I mean might as well of killed Mito for all that Gons going to care... I love how this arc will blind side people pretty much every time.
Thanks for this. I'm always surprised that around half of reactors immediately assume Pitou is a girl. Even beyond the whole male-soldier ant issue, I just never even considered they might be female. Maybe I'm too used to women voicing anime boys.
Probs to Alicia and Azu providing us with double ep reactions for this arc! Chimera ant arc is pog and having double ep reactions makes it even more pog!
Noticed how when Kite always asks for a weapon, he gets one perfect for the situation but says it's perfect for the situation. Yet this one he got, he didn't say anything about it.
He said in his previous weapon spins - the gun and the scythe - that they were were bad spins, because the gun makes him somewhat vulnerable against head-on opponents and the scythe has A LOT of collateral AOE range and it's terrible when fighting alongside other people Hence why he said to Killua and Gon after getting the scythe "In three seconds, jump as high as you can"
Man Pitou was just born, then proceeded to:
Convert the local traitor
Lobotomise a guy

What a great comment
Wait what?!
I did not expect that lmao
NAH 😭 that’s hilarious but so dark 💀
You’re going to hell for this one 😂
And here we are. To me this is the episode Togashi tells us "End of the prelude. Welcome to the Chimera Ant arc."
“Hope you enjoyed the fun and games, now here is severe depression.”
Neferpitou is one of my favourite characters of this arc, rammot being humbled is always funny to me.
Agreed! Though I actually think Neferpitou is my favorite character in HxH
It’s the fact that it happened so fkn quickly

Now that I think about it, the protag death rate is actually quite low in this arc, compared to Yorknew for example.
