I once wrecked my bosses jeep with an loader. The jeep was stuck in an pond, i was uphill in the loader to pull the jeep out. Guy was in between the 2 to hook the tow line up. Brakes malfunctioned, loader rolled downhill, i gave full throtle to get back up. But i was in reverse gear.... i thaught i had crushed the guy, he had jumped away just in time, landing in the muddy pond.
We looked for an moment, he started laughing and we went for a beer to calm the nerves.

I watch the episodes and I see what this guys accomplished and it blows my mind. I mean, most people don't have lease holders or gold miners in their family, but he took every chance he had and used it to it's absolute most. Can't fault that, and it's really nice to see a young person with money who made it, not just was deposited into a trust for him.

You want a hairy teddy bear that is a family man, you can do that with the right editing. I think discovery wanted tony for the long run so they portay him a bit more positive.

Well said. Parkers grandfather showed him how to mine but Tony showed him how to run a mining business.
Of course. His grandpa gave him a lot of knowledge, but Tony gave him a big opportunity for success with the ground he gets.
Also made him into a business man who wont back down against a hard ass lol and made him tough enough to enforce his rules and be the boss when he needs to be.
Tony is like a tough coach, Grandpa knew Parker needed someone to be tough on him to make it in the gold business. Sometimes when parker gets real serious and business you can see some of Tony back in him.

Them Western Star trucks are notorious for catching fire like that! We had one at work that went up a couple years ago. The driver was pulling in to the rental shop to pick up a piece of equipment. He heard a pop, & smelled diesel fuel as he was completing his turn. As soon as he stopped at the equipment rental place, the truck shot up in a massive fireball! Luckily our driver got out, as did Mike!
There is a high pressure fuel line that runs near the EGR. Said line bursts, & sends fuel onto the HOT exhaust parts. IT's a recipe for disaster! The fuel line DOESN'T show signs of fraying, or wear. When it gets fatigued enough, it just bursts!

I saw a whole transportation company loading and transporting M1 Abrams in 2003 in Iraq using this same type of HEMT trucks...my unit was rushing into Iraq and unfortunately all I got was a glance to how the Army moves our MBTs..but Damn!!!..nothing more glorious than seen our military waking up @4am in a FRP(Forward Refueling Point) and staring at buildings that were built 4K years ago while the same sun that shone on them back then is glittering on my eyes in 2003.

This show is so setup lol. My man tony left “to go to the fire” in a GMC Sierra but then left in his Yukon. An they just so happen to have gotten the grainy footage from “someone” even tho camera crew didn’t show up yet.
The grainy footage was filmed on a phone by a stranger in Yukon. Mike drove Tony’s GMC back and Tony drove back in the Yukon that Minnie drove.... simple really

Also from earlier scenes it's mentioned a few times that minnie tends to be a bit of a mediator between tony and the rest of the family so calling her instead of him makes sense.

@kyle Anderson. I also agree this is kinda set up show. I’ve watched past episodes where they show the dudes in the trucks and not even press In the cb to talk lol. Plus if you go back to when mike was just about to leave he walks over to the passenger side exhaust and does something. So who’s not to say maybe he caused this to happen just to make the show look more interesting.

I remember seeing an episode where Rick had to turn over the land he'd mined, leveled it and created small lakes, the moose loves eating plants in those(think that was in Canada don't know if the same in US)
Keep in mind they aren’t usually mining vast forests. These are usually the low lands. Besides they Have to return the land for forestation. We all benefit from the same type of development unless you live in a treehouse
Gold is actually a useless metal. It is not used in industry like lead .or copper iron or zinc etc...we can quote easily live without it...it just sits inside a vault for millenia backing up a country's economy... that and vanity usually in the form of jewellery...other than that....useless...an ashtray on a motorcycle has more use...!

7:00-7:05 Mike closes the hood..10 minutes later it burned to the ground..?? Probably left the oil cap off and the blowback comes up out the spout getting a mist of oil onto the exhaust manifold and fuse box and there she goes. If it was a wire shorted out you can smell it before it catches on fire. Engine oil is running at 200 degrees and then hits exhaust surface of 400 or better basically ignites like gasoline quickly... drivers fault.
And why would he be looking under the hood anyways? Was there something wrong with the engine?
What are the licenses they are talking about?
They have to apply for mining permits and it licenses with the government. Something I've only seen touched on, after mining they have to put everything (overburden) back. In other words they can't just leave the mined out area open.
A lot of regulations involved with their water sources also.

7:46 the engine ran hot and hot and hotter until it exploded. This doesn't happen out of the blue. No oil or the cooling water went missing. In both cases, there are alarm signals at the instrument panel. So the question should be how could Tony not see and hear the wake-up call?
