    I hope you enjoyed the video and please feel free to share your opinions on this storm below. I'm not one to exaggerate or even try to estimate wind speeds by eyeball, it's an impossible task. But comparing Nepartak to all the other category 3 and 4 storms I've filmed I'm convinced the 110kts (1 min) / 90kts (10 min) landfall intensity estimate is incorrect. Cheers!!

      I was there. I have been in many typhoons in Taiwan but this was something else.

    You cannot tell me these winds are less than Hurricane Ian. It is lucky that storm surge wasn't a huge problem or that storm would be horrific.

      Thankfully storm surge isn't an issue in Taiwan, fresh water flooding on the other hand is terrifying!

    I would honestly say those are category 5 winds being recorded. Those gusts like the one flipping the vehicle are easily in the cat 5 range. I think the peak intensity of nepartak was underestimated and the weakening overestimated. Would be cool to see an experiment done on the same model of car seen flipping to get the windspeed

    • @poetrypagan9309

      The recorded landfall pressure for Nepartak was 911.5 hpa, I think at least that could correspond to a cat 4

    Holy moly, that looks like it was stronger than a Category 3. I felt the man's fear when the doors flew open. I live in Florida, USA and one year we had a low-end category 1 hurricane come through my area. A burst of wind appeared and forced my front doors open. It felt like everything in my body had fallen out onto the floor. It was not a fun experience. We shut the door, relatched it, and placed a couple of heavy pieces of furniture to secure the door. I will never forget that scary night.

    Pretty sure it was a CAT 4, it was the scariest typhoon/hurricane I have ever been in. Where I live in the UK, we usually have ex-Hurricanes that are basically hurricane strength winds that batter our coasts. But I was in Taiwan when Nepartak hit, I was in Kaosiung and later in Tainan, we took the HSR to get back before the storm got too close. it was pants-shittingly-terrifying. Great vid btw!

    Amazing job documenting this storm James. Armed with your data, as well as others, maybe one day they can analyze this storm and reclassify it. Because it definitely was stronger than a Cat3 based on your video . Possibly a high end Cat4. From my experiences watching storm videos, a Cat3 doesn’t flip Autos around!! Can they? Sure but that was a very strong sustained wind. Anyways, thanks for posting it and I’ll look forward to your next one.

    • @EarthUncutTV
      @EarthUncutTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3
