This year you will get a super long range version. People put it on Xinjiang’s country road/urban road and drive it until battery dies. On average over 65miles per hour. That’s 890km on a single charge. Less power, no more four wheel drive. But probably the longest real life range in the market.
@@Eliano55 no, it really depends on where you live. i live in the country side in germany, 1 hour from Frankfurt. My WLTP 350km e-C4 does very well. Next HPC is 20mins from my home.
Im in the UK so this is one of the first times Ive heard of Zeekr. But I have to say, it is a gorgeous design. The proportions are beautiful and a panamera front and RS6 rear are two vehicles to mimic if you plan to mimic. Very well done.
As soon as they start tackling the lack of sales and service network, they'll really become a serious contender to our local manufacturers. Really a nice car.
Hi. I am new to cars industry, can you guys explain more further about cars network, what do you means by car’s network.? What does it involve in.? Thanks so much.!
As an owner of the Zeeker 001 in China, I have driven this car for 12,000km and I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. Having previously owned Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi cars, I can confidently say that the Zeeker 001 is just as good, if not better. While there have been some software-related issues, I find it hard to fault this car in any other aspect. The spacious interior, sturdy chassis, luxurious interior, and affordable price make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a great car.
Having driven lynk co 01 (an suv hybrid baby brother of this car) for a year and having tried A6, E class and 5 series. This car is much better quality and value for many than German competitors. I hope it puts enough pressure on the market that others start offering similar price to quality ratio cars
Design wise this car has very good proportions and looks quite elegant . It is not easy without being too ostentatious or weird looking for new brands to be original and not being compared or accused for 'borrowing' something from well established car brands on the market. I'd say bravo Zeekr. And as always really enjoyed presentation by Thomas.
I live in Kazakhstan and since we share border with China, we had an enormous influx of chinese cars in our market Zeekr is one of the best cars in this price range, although the whole EV situation is not very practical in our country yet, since we don't have chargers on every corner. But if you own a house and have an opportunity to install a quickcharge station, it's basically heaven. Also, take a look at Li L9, it's a chinese hybrid SUV, much more luxurious and practical.
An excellent and detailed review! I've never heard of Zeekr yet and a great looking car for 60,000 to 68,000 Euro. Real door handles inside snd out😊. Thanks and greatings from Santa Barbara California.
The platform will be rebadged into volvo (EX-30 and EX-90) to sell in the US next year, however uncle sam is going to make sure it is not cheaper than american alternative after tariffs though
Great review!! One thing to point out, my 001 informative system has been upgraded to higher version, I think what you having now is much older version. Their system is getting better!
@@rs1019 They are talking about a Chinese market version and therefore most likely it is not relevant to European cars. As Thomas mentioned due to regulation/language differences the infotainment system is very different between the export version of the 001 compared to domestic Chinese version. Story in China was that they released the 001 and early customers were highly critical of the original infotainment the car launched with. It was both a software and hardware issue, as Zeekr promised to fit the car with the advanced Qualcomm 8155 but used a cheaper chip instead. So to fix it, not only did Geely rush out an updated infotainment software system, it also upgraded the physical chip in every customer car to 8155, for free. Afterwards the upgraded infotainment got very good reviews and the 001 started selling much better in the Chinese market.
Really like the interior - one of my favourites from an upcoming EV. My feeling is that (here in the UK at least), people are less brand loyal when it comes to purchasing an EV and judge more just on looks/tech/value etc. On that basis, I can't see why this won't do very well.
25:40 My issues exactly with this reinstated trend to move every function to a tablet. It is too distracting even when the functions are permanent on the screen. As a driver, you need fast access to certain functions and they have to always react in the same way. Also, make the tablet retractable and keep a clean aesthetic: most of the time, you know where to go. You are not going to need navigation software on a daily basis. Put some knobs there for radio, volume, temperature and a mini screen for information. Props to Zeekr though for keeping the instrument panel and for its design.
i firstly saw this car in China back at the end of 2021. and the size of the car really surprised me. they spent a year and half to polish the car to become as mature as today ( in chinese market at least :D).
Thanks for the review! Totally agree on screen control while moving: as it is in Model 3 - it's totally uncomfortable to use while driving. Stange that Tesla and others didn't created screen mode for driving, when primary functions comes over everything else on screen.
@@StephanBuchinat least they have no service network sofar ... and the german customers are very conservative, buying the same Brand the entire live. Nio has also a good product and sells extremly bad in Germany. Don't think they will have much sucees against the ID7 as Company car.
You gave a great explanation about this car. A lot of people in comments keep calling Volvo, Polestar and in recent reviews of the Lotus Eletre "Chinese" simply because Geely owns these brands. But these are not Chinese designed and engineered cars. They are Swedish or English designed and engineered, in terms of where the headquarters are, and are quite European in feel and content. Zeekr is designed in Sweden and some of the interior bits were designed for the Chinese market. Now, there may be some platform sharing, although Volvo makes their own platforms for their large cars, and Lotus has heavily modified the platform, but even the platform was chiefly designed by a Swedish engineer (Kent Bovillan) for Geely. He now works for Geely. So, these are European bred cars in feel and content, only the financing is Chinese and perhaps some of the drivetrain and electronics and batteries. And that's not to put down Chinese cars because I think they're capable of making fine cars. But this is to set the record straight of all the nonsense I read about how these Euro brands are Chinese. I like this car but I'd rather get the similar Polestar 4 because it's a version of this car and I like Polestar's interior better. But that's just a matter of taste. They won't be tuned the same so they'll drive differently but they're similar in many ways. And, as you said, the software is different on Volvo and Polestar. The Lotus is more money and that looks like a fine car as well. So, Geely brands are good brands, engineered and designed in Europe and taking advantage of economy of scale. Win win IMO. Thanks for the review, it was excellent as always.
You're 100% correct, but the OEM's are the ones spreading the FUD because the Chinese owned vehicles are significantly undercutting the Germans in price while offering similar or better luxury features and performance. I hear that the German OEMs are calling for the government to charge higher import taxes for Chinese vehicles because they claim that they will flood the German market with cheap vehicles and many jobs will be lost as a result.
I'm from Sweden and I understand what you are saying and yes Geely use a lot of people from European countries to design their cars but they are influenced more and more from China, however you look at it. I saw a report on the new Volvo EX30 that you want to say is a Swedish brand. That it's built 100% in China. They only made the design with Swedish people and the rest is Chinese. That doesn't make the product Swedish in my mind. Same with Zeekr. Before this car was released, there haven't been one single news/information shared in Sweden about Zeekr being a "Swedish" company, only because they have a office in Sweden and some Swedish people who work there. That doesn't make it a Swedish brand, that's why many reviews and news write about the Chinese brands that are coming to Europe. Volvo was Swedish, but for every model they produce and move out production and more and more of the original company to China, it's slowly losing it's "Swedish" brand, doesn't mather how much they still say it is Swedish, it's only for markering purpose. But that is only my opinion but I know many more who thinks the same. But otherwise it looks like a good car with good pricing, but it's not Swedish.
@@jakssdsfs In fact, Volvo is quite independent within the Geely Group, and the acquisition of Volvo agreed to many conditions back then. Zeekr is because Geely cannot safely intervene in Volvo's products. Geely Group does not believe that the performance and price of the EX30 are highly competitive, especially in the Chinese market, so it has separated Lynk Co's tram and named it Zeekr.
I have managed to have a very close up look with the Lotus Eletre and I see many design features from that to this. Just from my quick perspective they include the seat profiles, the inside door handles, where the shape and mechanism are straight from a Lotus Emira, the soft non animal furnishings and the outer door handles. and the reclining seats in the rear. Also the entire shape is similar. Geely are a huge company whose assets include Polestar, Volvo, Lotus, Smart, LEVC (London Taxi), Geely Auto, Geometry, Proton, Lync, and of course Zeekr. Although based in the UK I am a commercial auto photographer who travels to the far east for the purposes of final rendered images and I am well versed with some of these concept vehicles from CGI stage to physical result, also incorporating CGI elements into the final brochure images.
@@samibeemer7619 I don't have any positions at present but could would only ever take on people with a commercial/professional background in high end studio/location photography.
@@Fldllse you are probably correct - we had the running platforms (cutaways) as well as 2 concept vehicles - I have not photographed the Zeekr but recognised the elements from that vehicle from the Eletre
You're still one of the best reviewers of vehicles, you use great framing, are careful to get good lighting and don't try to bury your accent. It's always a pleasure to watch your videos. I was actually looking at importing one of these to the UK until you said the base is in Sweden and I loved there for quite a long time so perhaps I should just visit some old friends and drive home 😂
Your point about the infotainment system is true and trying to deal with different sets of laws around the world must make it difficult for all vehicle manufacturers. The one thing I think we can be sure about though is that Chinese manufacturers will learn what works well in different regions quickly and certainly have the resources to create what customers really like. The only question is whether they wish to make changes to achieve this? I think this is an important lesson for all vehicle manufacturers to learn. Promising updates to fix things that users find distracting, difficult or just irritating and then not producing them will make customers look elsewhere when they change their vehicle.
I am so not surprised by the German inspirations of the Zeekr 001, since many German engineers went to China 😂 But jokes aside: the Zeekr 001 looks like a very promising "small station wagon" with a very sleek design and a very large battery. It is so refreshing in the sea of unending EV SUVs to see such a car come out in the market. Hope they fix the Adaptive Cruise Control for the European market, then this car is going to be a great deal. Thank you for covering this car as well, keep up the good work!
Yeah, that's 20 cm longer than my old estate car and even fatter than it's "subcompact electric SUV" replacement. Width is a big issue in UK cities -at least the one I live in
I have to admit: that Chinese car is more beautiful than any other European electric model. And, obviously, have a bigger range than his European rivals!
The feedback from users for Z.001 since the last 2 years was the software isn't perfect with some bugs.. but the rest of the specs, design and features is top notch ... a sporty EV like the Mach-E.
Yeah I’m used to seeing them go down a bit and then up when closing the door (having owned a few r56 mini’s) but this appeared to go inward (almost like a pressurised door).
@@Astke It's not where the money is and they're a small company. They'll make one but if most of their sales are in SUVs, especially in North America, what's the point of prioritizing a wagon?
@@Astke don't worry, just give them some times to catch up. this year volvo will release first EV MPV with same platform of this 001, new EV sedan and wagon should also on the way~~ (some Chinese insider said might be next year)
Thanks for the review. It was really interesting to compare a European version to the Chinese one that we have a lot nowadays here in Russia. Nice change that they’ve made is a 22 kWt charging port compared to Chinese standard GBT 7 kWt. Also you haven’t mentioned or maybe I’ve missed that the panoramic roof can change its transparency as an option. And also the doors can open automatically and close by pressing the brake pedal. At the end - definitely a very good car with an fantastic price for money value.
The new version of this car has been launched in China.I think Zeeker will not keep you waiting for too long.Chinese car companies need the European market.
I love the interior , Mercedes and bmw should really take lessons from zeekr , they just made e-class and 5 series really ugly like they were going for cyberpunk but gone mad 😂😂😂
or... every brand should try and make their own designs and not "take lessons". It is better that there is competition and that brands try to make their own design styles. If a Merc of BMW looked just like this Zeekr, then what is the point in anything. People like different things.
@@Astke Feels like every Chinese electric car has the same basic interior design - wide centre console, minimal physical switches, narrow dash display and larger center display. This one looks very similar to the likes of BYD and Xpeng interiors
Another great review as usual Thomas! I think this is a very good looking EV with impressive build quality and features, especially for the money. I appreciate your explanation of the Zeekr brand, this is very helpful to know. It's good to see a number of EV manufacturers now producing saloon/sedan models rather than yet another huge SUV. I believe there is still a great deal of interest in this model type around the world, not just in Europe. The build quality looks to be on a par with the likes of Lexus and if that is the case it may do very well indeed. I'm not sure if Zeekr 001 is going to be coming to the UK but really hope it does.
This is what I was asking for a long time. Cheaper car with big battery. It doesn't even need to have many bells and whistles, but yes, a huge battery.
The all new zeekr 001 is ready in China at this moment, wish you can get a chance to try and review it soon in the future. Heard that the new 001 can charge from 10 to 80% within 11.5 minutes.
Great review! I drove it myself and ordered the Privilege. One thing I don't get though is the amount of journalists that keep on complaining about the adjustment of the temperature. In my current vehicle I've set it once...and it just kept it on the same temperature for the past 4 years....so why bother? What is this temperature and physical button fetish amongst car journalists....grow up and accept that everything nowadays is software, which has the advantage that it can be stored and recalled in the driver profile. For the software updates, I already heard very positive stories from Zeekr drivers that Zeekr is very responsive to feedback via the software interface.
What a great looking car, as an Audi owner for most of my adult life I am thinking they had better get their act together as the value proposition is starting to look poor. I may well consider this if it gets to the UK as I am getting a bit fed up of waiting for the A6 Etron
The usability of the large LCD display appears to be poor. As Thomas pointed out some LCD based tasks require to much concentration to complete safely when driving. It is surprising that these sorts of user interface design deficiencies exist at this stage of the vehicle’s development. Applying usability design methodology would no doubt improve the driver’s satisfaction with LCDs operation. I suspect that this hasn’t been done. To be clear “usability” is not a late stage add-on. Factors such as cognitive load, task completion time and interface navigation can be tested and improved if needed. The earlier this done in the design process, the more likely usability flaws can be identified. Driver preferences can also to tested as part of the overall interface design. Thanks Thomas for a thoughtful review of this very appealing EV.
@@fatdoi003 you definitely got a point, i despise european EVs effort. With all the capability they have they're truly digging their own grave at the moment.
@WoTjolly in my country, when Tesla first came, their pricings were rediculous.... now they have adjusted to more acceptable level with more competitions... VW here is shrinking like a sun dried tomato.... their once invincible Golf now is nowhere to be seen
@byhyew maybe, but it's all a big IF. And with all these chinese "pop up brands" one should be very careful on buying one of those, because the chinese EV market is saturating and not every brand will survive
I like the lighter interiors and the clean console. The only negative is the high floors typical in all EV to accommodate the batteries. Big screens are great when in use but can be distracting when not needed. Since the screen is so big, I just wish more manufactures would utilize that entire screen real estate for the backup camera view. My only negative is those seats with the integrated head rests. One more thing is that all cubbies and cup holders need to have covers. Otherwise, they collect lint and dust and look like mini trash bins. The cup holders just need that cap that presses down when in use.
Wow 320 miles to a charge for 60K. Other EV makers should be scared. How can they deliver that much interior craftsmanship for that kind of money? Nice digital instrumentation with sense of personality
Them being Chinese does help in this, despite them doing engineering/design bits and pieces in Europe. Manufacturing (and probably resource mining) are still in China, and it is well known that that saves a lot of costs. And not just because wages are lower.
@@autogefuehl You should see the Chinese version of the 001 that recently got fitted with CATL's new 140 kWh Qilin battery pack. One Chinese car-tuber took one and did a highway test at a constant 120 kph, and managed to get 840 km out of a single charge!
Many cars compete at that given length. When comparing similar length cars, interior space and luggage room become a critical factor, at least to me. Call it a shooting brake, but how far does it fall behind the Lucid Air 100% sedan? If the Air were designed by the same people to compete at a lower price point, I bet the packaging would have been just as good. No 670 hp motors, but 250 hp motors. Plenty strong and much cheaper to produce, carrying on to converters, wiring, cooling cell type opportunities to save. Low price is tempting, but you won't get the Porsche ownership experience, of course. At the budget, it looks nice for sure. The VW ID.7 which seems very average to me, won't be cheap.
539L cargo space for a car that side is more like a Panamera than like at Mercedes E-Class Estate, BMW 5 touring, VW Passat (shorter car), etc. Looks nice, though.
VW ID3 seems good enough in Europe, but which prize in China is less than 20K Euros currently, so you can image what a competitive Chinese Car selling market.
@@sucarl4270 ID3 is the EV Golf, but it's not driven by people on the budget of a basic Golf, I think. And of course, it's an EV do you can't get an ID3 Kombi. EV drivers can't get utility unless they pay double only for 2 and 3 car families.
Great review (as usual)! I couldn't think of a better EV in the price range. This is what will be coming from China at increasingly speed. It's hard to imagine how does the story doesn't end pretty bad for some mid-range European car manufacturers.
Great review, I like how these Chinese EV auto still consider chassis , suspension and design to be best done by the Germans/ European engineers who are specialized. And do it best and making affordable
not quite perfect but an immensely compelling proposition. Despite the silly brand name, I am convinced that if Zeekr was coming to the USA, I would be placing a deposit.
Polestar makes a quite similar car coming out next year, the Polestar 4. I'm not sure there's a need for Zeekr in the USA. They don't seem to be priced lower than Volvo and Polestar.
I am in China right now. And regarding voice and touch technology the Chinese are very interested. While in the west we seem to be a bit more conservative on these types of technologies.
Well, I wish VW a lot of luck competing with cars like this!! Try to imagine a young person purchasing a new drone, not from DJI but Braun or Siemens - this is the future of motoring, no matter we like it or not!
Basically, they funded Volvo with money and Volvo shined by making better Volvos. But Volvo has some reliability issues as their reliability is spotty. Ford mismanaged Volvo as they did Mazda and Jaguar.
Geely's best decision was to let Volvo and Lotus retain existing management. We have seen how companies like Saab failed bcos of too much intervention from parent company.
A truly informative car review as always, and what a nice car too - I hope you had a pleasant trip, from Lindholmen, Säve, Kungälv, Ytterby, Kärna, Tjuvkil to Marstrand ⛅
Thomas, you may want to visit China big cities like Beijing or Shanghai, you will see much more EV cars here, we have new EV cars to the market every 2-3 months
This will be heavy moral hit, because 5 Series touring, E-Class T-Model and A6 Avant are arguably the most important lines in the whole line up. Its the one car that everybody agrees is awesome.
Looks like the best car from China - so far - for me. Maybe at the same level as Xpeng G9. Only problem I see is the apps for remote control of for instance pre-heating in winter before I go for a drive, seems to drive Polestar/Volvo users "nuts". I guess this car will have the same issue
I must say first. Fun to see that you came and did a testdrive in my hometown göteborg. And now about the car. I think i wait and see how its gonna work to drive and so for some years before i buy one. It looks good though. Like your videos

Would be interesting to see what the long-term reliability is like. Know many people who are comfortable with their ten and fifteen-year-old BMWs.
Also curious! But the bar is not set very high considering German automakers haven't had a stellar reputation in terms of reliability in recent years.

The indicators would drive me nuts 😃
Agree. For this alone i would probably not buy this car. They really need to change it!
They need to sort out the indicator sound, but other than that, really impressive. The front end is giving me Fiat Coupe 20v vibes :)

A lovely looking car. I hope they bring it out in RHD at that price point, at £52k it would be a serious competitor

I see a lot of "borrowing" there but ok.
wow, what an excellent alternative to the other ev's out there, looks awesome and the interior lovely too.
hope this works out and here to stay
Main issue. Is that it is VERY inefficient for this type of car. No wonder they needed 100 kWh battery....
I live in Kazakhstan and since we share border with China, we had an enormous influx of chinese cars in our market
Zeekr is one of the best cars in this price range, although the whole EV situation is not very practical in our country yet, since we don't have chargers on every corner. But if you own a house and have an opportunity to install a quickcharge station, it's basically heaven.
Also, take a look at Li L9, it's a chinese hybrid SUV, much more luxurious and practical.
thanks for the report!

Great review!! One thing to point out, my 001 informative system has been upgraded to higher version, I think what you having now is much older version. Their system is getting better!
Hi, we’re interested in purchasing this car. Could you elaborate on how they’ve improved the infotainment?
Indeed as I said the Chinese infotainment is obviously way better than the European one
Everyone was laughing at Chinese cars a decade ago. They're not laughing now.
Really like the interior - one of my favourites from an upcoming EV. My feeling is that (here in the UK at least), people are less brand loyal when it comes to purchasing an EV and judge more just on looks/tech/value etc. On that basis, I can't see why this won't do very well.

Do they have a dealership agreement in the UK?
cannot be brand loyal as those ICE brands are like Kodak and Nokia. Fading away soon
@@spiketwo666 What ICE brands?

Thanks for the review, it was excellent as always.
thanks keep tuning in !
@@jakssdsfs I think the correct term for this may be "European designed, assembled in China".
I believe you can actually also click those unmarked steering wheel knobs as alternative for finger scrolling for temperature change etc.
I have shown that in the review
My first impression as well after sitting in the Eletre at the fully charged show. The centre console, cup holders etc all look the same.

Thanks! It's a great car and an amazing review!

I am so not surprised by the German inspirations of the Zeekr 001, since many German engineers went to China 😂
But jokes aside: the Zeekr 001 looks like a very promising "small station wagon" with a very sleek design and a very large battery. It is so refreshing in the sea of unending EV SUVs to see such a car come out in the market. Hope they fix the Adaptive Cruise Control for the European market, then this car is going to be a great deal.

I set mine to 22 in winter and 20 in summer.
What a great looking car, as an Audi owner for most of my adult life I am thinking they had better get their act together as the value proposition is starting to look poor. I may well consider this if it gets to the UK as I am getting a bit fed up of waiting for the A6 Etron
Geekr 001 in China it costs 31000 pounds , but because of anti dumping , they have to sell way more expensive ,
The usability of the large LCD display appears to be poor.
Highly appreciated!
