With a backdrop of stunning theatrical sets, Peter Gabriel performs all of his greatest hits to a sold out audience in the Fila Forum, Milan, in 2003. Included in this musical-tour-de-force are the hits Sledgehammer, Red Rain, In Your Eyes and Solsbury Hill.

That bass line added 15 years to my life...
that's the greatest fucking comment I've ever read...
you may have actually added a few years to mine 😎
Tony Levin will have that effect on ya.
that bass line is in-freakin-sane
😆
*BASS !!* 🎸
I didn't kick the habit. I'm still listening to this song.
Shed my skin tho
It sounds gae
It ain't the new stuff anymore but we still go dancing in.
Me, too. :)
Es para la eternidad amigo!🎉
Tony Levin...what a master of the bass.
I would love to get him alone so he can explain that whole playing the base with sticks. Sounds brilliant, looks insane
I saw Tony Levin playing with King Crimson in 1984 on the "Three of a Perfect Pair" tour. "Sleepless" off that album is Tony at his best, IMO.
Coat is SICK 🔥
Amazing bass!!!!! Oush!!!!!!!
Yes, he is 🎼🎸
You're telling me that guy is killing the bass and dancing? God.
Genius ❤
Tony Levin's base playing is always brilliant but he smashes it on this performance
translate!toni is great!!!
This man has a sensational live singing voice.
My son is learning to play this song on the drums, he's only 3 yo. That's my legacy to this world.
THAT is cool!
Thank you!
Good start playing drums! 👍
Tony Levin's bass lines are so good they should be prescribed as medicine!
This guy put on a red dress and a fox head in the 70s and he’s been blowing minds ever since
This is the best version of this song by miles. Adjusted to give respect to Peter being older and his voice being what it is now. If this was recorded like this now, it might top the charts again!
I totally agree, but I honestly would like to see more of his backup singers, they are rocking like on another level!
No way, man. The Secret World version blows this away. PG is about a hundred times more animated, so much so that he’s practically hyperactive! All while managing to sound great. Paula Cole is on another level completely. The whole song is just so much more energetic and joyous. And as it’s an energetic and joyous song, that can only be a good thing.
I saw the Growing Up concert live and it was great. But it wasn’t a patch on Secret World. That was peak PG.
@@VGILee Agree!!! Secret World is in a universe unlike any other Gabriel performance. He, the band and Paula are at the top of their form in that tour. It NEVER gets old listening to/watching that concert!!!
We don't like Mights.
I think he definitely should
One of the best sounding songs ever created
One of the best lyrics too.
I always thought it was some studio gizmos that were making him sound like that. But no, he’s actually that good.
That bassline is just mind blowing
Peter, soul of Genesis...magic!
Love that he and Phil still have a great relationship shame they never worked together much after Genesis
This bass line is Epic. Peter is just workin' this audience. He has a great stage presence...and he has matured very well. The voice is still strong and effortless...plus...appears he is having real FUN! And the COAT is Iconic!! Why that little flute flourish in the song gets me everytime, it is just magical! Keep rockin' Peter!!!

Tony Levin is an absolute beast in any band that he plays in. What a damn legend.
This song isn’t just musically a masterpiece - it is just pure fun; that’s why it’s still so beloved by millions!
the quality of the voice and sound performance is unreal
Tony Levin is the "Master Bass Player"!!! Hands down!!!
Wow - This bass-line sounds fantastic..... !!!
Tony Levin....
As a bass player myself i can say that Tony's basslines are to die for. I can play them at about 90% accuracy.
He utilizes him to the max. Tony's sound is like an exclamation point to his words. Beautiful.
@@mistatt2 They are great as is he, one of my bass idols! Made it my duty to play his style.
Octave pedal !
We were blessed to get to grow up with this music.
Very few artists do I find are better live than in studio. Peter Gabriel is one of those artists. So natural and refined
“Delicate Sound of Gabriel”
What makes you think of that? I'm curious.
@@flops0317 Pink Floyd reference
@@jcpozoc I know but I was wondering what made you think of DSOT. Is it the 80s production?
@@flops0317 just Peter´s outfit... reminds me of that suit of light bulbs of the DSOT album cover
@@jcpozoc Ooh yeah you're right! :D
WOW great bass
Peter Gabriel is the only man who can make stadium shows feel intimate.
Tell me you never saw Jerry Garcia live without telling me you never saw Jerry Garcia live.
Not Michael Jackson? 😸
Show for me. And I will show for you. Love ❤️ to everyone reading this 💗
Peter, LOVE YOU Throughout the last 30 Years - EVEN TODAY YOU HAVE LIFTED MY SPIRIT Than You!
Musicman Bass - iconic sound. In my opinion one of the fattest and best bass sounds ever!!! What an iconic piece of music
I was born in 1970...Thanks Mom & Dad, Perfect timing............I was a Teen in the 80's. this song for ever in my life!
Me too!
Me three!
Four...
well, that makes five
Classic song that has stood the test of time, still sounds so good nearly 40 years later. Thank you for your music, Mr Gabriel.
GABRIEL IS ON A LEVEL LIKE NO OTHER...BRILLIANT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT !
POCO SE HABLA DEL INGENIERO DE SONIDO Y DEL QUE HA EDITADO ESTO....❤❤❤...DEL BAJO...NADA MÁS QUE AÑADIR.. SIMPLEMENTE ES DE OTRO MUNDO 😮😮😮😢😊
This whole video is a massive guilty pleasure for me....The jacket, the dancing, the crazy camera, it makes me SO happy!
If this video gets 1,000,000 views it was probably just me watching it on loop. This song and performance is so good.
😂😂😂🤘
2,5mio at the moment... Go back to life... Oh wait, this is life
And me
God the vocal harmonies at the 3rd verse (1:53] really elevate this version.
the tempo as well, it’s really a stomp!
This jacket should be in the Smithsonian along with David Byrne's Big Suit.
Truly a Great Suit
His talent is Infinite
Amazing Showman

Only one problem: Peter Gabriel is not American. So the British Museum would be more appropriate.
Along with the song!
Caga para roupas curta a música essa roupa ja nem deve existir a música ainda ta vibrar
"This Day in Music" - 26 July 1986, Peter Gabriel went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Sledgehammer', a No.4 hit in the UK. The song's music video has won a number of awards, including a record nine MTV Awards at the 1987 MTV Video Music Awards, and Best British Video at the 1987 Brit Awards. Gabriel was also nominated for three Grammy Awards. As of 2011, 'Sledgehammer' is the most played music video in the history of MTV.
"Sledgehammer" replaced "Invisible Touch" as number 1 on the US charts. Who would have thought in the 70's that a band as progressive as Genesis would have 2 singers with tremendous commercial success.
Wow - This bass-line sounds fantastic..... !!!
“Delicate Sound of Gabriel”
Sensational stuff!! Everything about it. One of the greatest live performers of all time.
To pull this off live is absolutely incredible.
exellent
It may not be "the new stuff" anymore, but it still resonates today in 2024!
Top three of music ever written and performed
Ich gehe zurück in diese Zeit. Wer kommt mit ?
This is timeless! Love every bit of it, Peter is such a legend!!!
ONE OF THE BEST INTRO EVER.
Only Duke Ellington with his Jeep's Blues have a comparable emotional impact to this.
Such an incredible song and even more incredible performance!
The guy that has to constantly throw the switch back and forth between Peters headset mic and handheld one has the toughest job ever.
Peter is....great
His wardrobe department ask him what he would like to wear onstage, he said just something light.
👍
He knows what he likes in his wardrobe.
The bass is sooooo good ❤️❤️🎸
Nitty and gritty.... wow! The song turned into a beast! Awesome!
What a voice! There is no comparison.
A true performer and real artist can still be appreciated in 2022. This man is working all POVs and so is his crew. Bravo, and give this Sledgehammer his flowers!
This is the celebration of music.
Amazing Live Performance.
Питер ты гений
I remember this when the MTV video came out, remember MTV when thats what it was? Music Television, then they had to mess it up to what it became, oh well..anyway..
I remember when I was able to play it really loud with 150w with 12" louds...amazing!
Since then I have always liked this song and the orig. claymation video.
I just found this vid showing that..we all get older, but Peter still has it.
Great artists like this just arent around as much these days.
I cherish the good old rock n roll, Rock n Roll forever!
I was probably 3 years old when my sister and father were listening to this song whileI was dancing to the funky bassline. Today I m 33, and making my nephews dance to this song. This song should be preserved for future generations
After all these years, PG's still got it
There is nothing like watching the choices Peter Gabriel makes: musically, visually, and collaboratively. Constructive criticism makes TH-cam a great place to be now.
The one and only Tony Levin!
Great artists are always ahead of Time xxxxx ❤❤❤❤
Still sounds amazing!
Tony Levin is a freak on that bass
Bass, beat, and rhythm is straight fire. Of course lyrics as well.
LOVE how Peter has headset mic, but sings into hand held mic too

A smile ?
@@Jojomusic007 yeah right ! ....huh ?
LOVE Peter
One of the greatest artist in the History. And Melanie “Fantastic voice”
What a voice
I had this live DVD when it came out, it was magic. I love all the footage of the AV crew besides the talented artists. I got to see two tours of Peter and friends, including his daughter, Melody. To this day, he puts on the best show of anyone I've seen. It's as if he sat in every seat and asked, "How's the view from here?"
I want to specially appreciate you for being a big fan message me on my hangout indicating your name

THOSE TRUMPETS, SAX, and TROMBONES @ 0:05 babyyy!!!
They jus don't write them like this anymore. Truly iconic.
Although he undestandibly doesn't do his high pitched screams and doesn't hold his notes as long as he did back when it came out, he surprised me with still having that good a voice. This song is and always will be a banger! Thanks Peter!
Masterpiece ❤️
WOW
BIG TALENT'S PETER GENESIS BAND FIRST VOICE 70S. THE BEST .FROM MÉXICO CHEERS MY FRIEND. 👋🎸🎹❤️😎🔥
It still amazes me how Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins have so similar-sounding voices.
And similar haircut
Nope! Gabriel is 10x better. Collins is a great drummer but always been just a substitution after Gabriel left.
@@lucy-me-lucy Sure, but we are talking about haircuts
@@banyalen 'have so similar-sounding voices'...

AWESOME. I love Peter's music!
Dammmmmnnnnnnn, that bass is killing it, what a job!!!!!!
best of best !
This is the coolest fucking thing I've seen
His voice still sounds amazing.
The most powerful part of the song starts at 3:02, amazing mix of sounds!!!
Me and my football team received an impromptu live performance of this song when we were touring the old Wembley Stadium, in what must have been about 1989. While we walked alongside the pitch from one end, workmen were busy installing a stage - you could hear hammers and drills, etc. while our guide was telling us about the pitch’s draining system and so on. Then, that distinctive intro to ‘Sledgehammer’ blared out and we were treated to an impromptu live performance by Peter Gabriel and his band rehearsing this song. They got about a third of the way through it, stopped, then performed the whole song from scratch. Loved it ever since. I also like Morgan James’s take on it; sounds very different from a female perspective.
You lucky lucky lucky lucky bastard. Great memory.
So much to love about this video! The song, the performances, the video making etc. But I particularly love the joy exuding from Tony Levin (bass) and David Rhodes (guitar), two long-time collaborators who must have played this song live over 1000 times yet they still bop around like we did as teenagers listening to it the first time around! Thanks for posting.
Io c'ero, fantastico, unico, inimitabile...
Peter awsome still 50 years on
Mr. Levin is the bass legend!!!
1:27 Oh sweet baby Jesus and all the angels in Heaven...
@Peter Gabriel Tell you what fella - I'll come hang out with you if you promise I can come sing with you. Now then there's an offer you'll not see again...can't say fairer than that 😊
@Peter Gabriel Is that when you'll reveal all about being a Nigerian Prince and need just a small processing fee in order to send me the five hundred nine million thousand pounds? Excited now like this yeeeeee!! 😀
Loving the Premier Drums, great show young man.
Chanson imortelle tres belle musique et belle paroles abas!!!!!
Big Peter Gabriel, sucesso inesquecível!🎪🌞🎤🎸🥁
I'm going there now!
¡Gracias!...
