About 20 years ago, Tony and his band (pretty much Peter’s touring band) played at a small club that I’d worked at. He actually doesn’t live far from the city I was in. They were the nicest people you could meet. I’m a bass player, so it was a big deal for me meeting him. He signed my copy of Bass Player with him in the cover. He let me try out his gear. At the end of the night we all went to the bar on the first floor and just talked about music, it was fantastic. After they had left, the tour manager came back in with an armful of Tony’s CD’s and said “We almost forgot, Tony wanted you to have these”. A perfect ending to the evening.
