- I see a lot of questions being asked in the various forums coming from people who are looking to find information out on how to purchase a suppressor, and what to expect.
Hope this video helps clear up some confusion and gets you on the path to getting a can! Do it!
Just went through Silencer shop and it was stellar. Quick and easy. My local shop, has a kiosk, and the process so far is quick and easy. Waiting on ATF now.
Have you received your suppressor yet?
@@jonsmith6000 not yet, only been 5 days.
@frostytravels did you receive your suppressor yet?
@@Joe_Ballistics not yet....easy application flawless, but ATF is lagging along
I’ve been waiting 6 weeks myself….
23 day wait! Holy crap dude congrats!
Thanks man! Yeah I couldn't believe it. I'm almost tempted to do another one. 😬
Thank you for the video.
I had bought my 1st can about 12 years ago and it was much more involved. (To include getting the sign-off from the Sherif)
I bought my 2nd one about mid-March from Silencer Shop and got the DocuSign in 2 days. It has been 21 days now since then, and I am still waiting on the Ready-To-Certify email. (SS says the Form 3 was received back and they shipped the item to my dealer this past Monday) - I am using a Gold level dealer, so hopefully they are better prepared to make-ready the form 4 in a timely manner.
I did use a single shot trust on it, and it looks like those approvals from the ATF are running a little longer than individual applications.
If things go smoothly, I will still add a couple more plus perhaps an SBR and a shotgun. (I may start looking for an auto as well, as a long term venue to park some investment cash)
Definitely take advantage of the fast approval times!
Thanks you cleared somethings up for me. Much appreciated
Glad it could help!
Thanks for the video, I just bought my first one and everything was clear as mud. This really helped me to understand what was happening without being a pain to my FFL asking continuous questions
Glad it could help! Appreciate it
@cowboy4life82 have you received your suppressor?
Yes I was approved 9 days after certification, and now waiting to certify my 2nd one
@@cowboy4life82 so it’s true that people are getting them less than a month?
@@jonsmith6000I got the email from silencershop that my FFL had received my Omega 9k and it was ready to certify. I went to the FFL to certify at 6pm. The next morning I got an email from the gunshop that I had been approved and to come pick up my silencer. This was last week.
Best break down I have watched 🎉
Appreciate it sir!
Purchased my first can on march 29th and had Easter weekend to contend with. Got a docusign email and finished that. Now it says awaiting form 3 approval so hopefully the rest of the process goes quick. Good informative video
Glad it helped!
Have you received your suppressor?
@@jonsmith6000 not yet. Still waiting for ATF approval but it has only been a week since submitted to the atf
@@ethan5.56 oh wow I thought it would be a little faster than that
@@ethan5.56 I’ve been hearing 3-4 days
Yes, I just purchased my first suppressor for my 300 blkout. Did it at my local ffl and through silencer shop. Bought it 2 days ago now just waiting for my forum 3.
Here's to a speedy approval!
@regulardudegungearreviewsh3132 Thank you I can only hope haven't received my fourm 3 to sign yet. Bit silencer shop emailed me said everything looks good
@@cjbryant5212 what's crazy is that your form 3 will probably take longer than your form 4
I went thru silencer shop and it took a month to get form 3 done and it shipped to my local dealer. ATF certification only took 4 days! I then had my suppressor !
It's crazy nowadays how a form 3 is longer than a form 4. Congrats!
bought 4 cans from silencer central via personal trust/ paper file in 2022. took 14 months ugh. silencer central made some errors but I dont blame it all on them. bought 4 more cans from silencer central in November 2023 via trust and E-file.......got my cans in my hand in 3 months. Bought another can in March 2024, we shall see?
Just got my ATF approval through silencer central sent off NOV 30 23 approved March 2024 would have been sent off faster but i drugged my feet on a couple of steps this being my first time doing this process and not knowing anything about this silencer central was fantastic to work with
Awesome man!
Atf is random for sure. I filed two sbr form1’s at the same time back in April2023. I got first approval in 19days and the other took 5 months! The crazy part is the first that I got back in 19days it was a 80% lower I milled my self went straight into pending research and said fuck it that one will take months completely forgot about it. I was more focused on the factory made lower and than 19days later approval arrives for the 80% Lower like whoa?? And the factory made one took 5 months.
Absolutely zero rhyme or reason to their approval process. It's nuts. I have done six form 1's and each one was a crapshoot
The E File process is supposed to cut the traditional wait time in half, but i had no idea what i was getting into when i went to get one. Had to make 2 trips to get the paperwork done, paid for my .22 suppressor and now i wait... hopefully i get it in 90, my form application came through in a day so im somewhat hopeful
Yeah it is way more difficult than it should be, for sure. I hope you're also part of this blitzkrieg of fast approvals! Appreciate the views and comments!
@regulardudegungearreviewsh3132 Thanks, I'm hoping that maybe because the electronic application is so new, that it might get pushed through a little quicker, but as long as I get it before squirrel season opens up, I'll be happy. I never knew they were even a controlled item until I went in to buy one, the store clerk didn't really explain the process properly. Initially, he said I could come in and get the paperwork done in half an hour---- never mentioned that was the first step. They also charged me tax for the total price of the product (tax stamp+suppressor) which I feel is total BS--- why am I paying taxes on a tax stamp???
@@TheMistaneff yeah that's BS. You should've been charged for the suppressor and the sales tax on it, and then the $200 tax for the stamp
I picked up a turbo T2 on the 13th of this month. Today is the 27th and my eform just now got processed “ready to certify” my wait time hasn’t even officially started yet. This whole system is bull shit.
@IMABEAST191 it's a little frustrating, but it's good to practice patience is the way I'm looking at it. I wonder if being a medically retired vet helped me in having such a fast certification. Mine was done next day, the shop said it typically takes 3-4 days in my area and mine was the fastest they'd seen. Maybe I got lucky.
I've been waiting for Silencer Shop to do their form 4 check so I can do certification for over a week now. I want to get it submitted soon because I'd bet everything that I own, that these quick approvals will completely stop one day soon. Then everyone will be waiting for years!!!
Typically the form 4 certification is on your local FFL, not SS. I know the last three cans that I bought through SS were certified pretty much the same day as my local dealer received the can from SS.
The wait times should only get better from here on out.
Silencers NFA Items, 1934. GCA 1968, different thing.
I’m still waiting been 7 months!!!!!!
Dang that really sucks man
Bit confused with the statement you made regarding picking up your can from your FFL once the form 4 has been approved and having to process another NICS check? As an SOT, a customer only has to come to the shop and complete the 4473. The background check has already been completed during the form 4 process. Shouldn’t have to wait for another background check.
The wait is however long it takes to wait on the 4473. Sometimes that's 5 mins, sometimes it's hours, all depending on the LE agency that gets called. But no different than when purchasing a firearm.
Ok I guess differences in state requirements if that’s what you’re talking about but for federal protocol with 4473’s and NICS, there is no further wait and no calling a local LE agency. It’s FBI NICS for purchasing a firearm. No additional background NICS check performed at an FFL once the form 4 has already been approved. Customer completes the 4473 for transfer of the NFA item and they’re on their way. Guess that’s what I was attempting to clarify.
@@damonsmith71712unfortunately you have to do both. 4473 and form 4 . At least all of mine required one.
Mine was submitted 04/20/2023 electronically. Still waiting for approval. I wonder if it was because I filed it under a trust?
Yeah, unfortunately trusts are are still averaging the "normal" 176 average wait time
Yea it’s the trust that increases wait time. I had two approved, one in 24 hours and one in less than a month, both filed under individual. I am still waiting on 2 other cans I filed under a trust 5 months ago.
Anyone know if you can file one under individual and once received, can you put it under the trust?
Nevermind. You can do it but have to get another tax stamp and more paperwork.
ah bureaucracy, my favorite form of torcher
Yeah, it's grate. GRATE. Lol
What do you mean, "you people?"
What do YOU mean, "you people"??
I’m confused as to why you’re signing a form 3? It’s sot to sot
From Silencer Shop's website:
What is a Form 3?
When a customer purchases a suppressor or other NFA item through Silencer Shop’s inventory, it will be transferred to the customer’s local dealer using the ATF Form 3. Form 3s initiate a transfer from one federal firearms licensee (FFL) to another FFL, usually for the purpose of facilitating a sale to a customer in another state.
@@regulardudegungearreviewsh3132 I’m not trying to sound rude but yes I’m aware of what a form 3 is and what it’s used for. You said you had to sign it which isn’t a thing hence the confusion.
@@mrcbrrr7484 ohhh my bad, man. I dunno man. The last three times that I've gotten cans from SS I get sent a DocuSign for a form 3
@@regulardudegungearreviewsh3132 oh ok gotcha … sounds like silencer shop just doing extra stuff idk why. 🤙🏽
It will be 1 year on the 1st still waiting.
God dang man that really sucks 😬
@@regulardudegungearreviewsh3132 Yep it suck's gonna call it quits at the one year mark and demand a refund of the tax stamp and for the suppressor I can buy a few new toys with the $800 I spent providing I can even get my money back. I'll just keep on using my Apple airpods and some Led Zepplin cranked up
@@regulardudegungearreviewsh3132
What 556 can would you get right now for an 11.5? I was looking at the polonium , the sandman s use to be a solid choice, Cgs Six or the new rc3.
I’m over 10 months waiting. Ridiculous
That sucks man. I waited 9 months on my last two cans and that was bad enough
12 months and counting.
Id rather go deaf than deal with this nonsense just to put an atf target on my back.
Lol it doesn't work like that
Got a Huxwrx Ventum waiting on ATF approval.
You're going to dig it 🤙🏻
my very 1st one on 1 pri .. i am wishfull that its fast.. i only got one because the rumor it is faster and i felt it was time..very excited.. griffen psr7.. local ffl- here in Maine.. cant wait! someone needs to tell me what is soo extra about the fbi background check v/s the nics check..
