Thanks for the feedback TheMaveriker and you are correct this is a modified version of Iyengar Yoga. Although, for someone on TH-cam looking for an entry level Yoga program to help with their body alignment then this is a great place to start.
Thanks Mariyash Aibassova you can find more shows like this at liveexercise.com and if you use the coupon code NOGYM2014 by Monday the 13th we'll give you an extra month, free!
I love your you tube video. This is what I used to do Iyengar yoga several years' ago. You put slot afford in explain the right technique. I am thrilled to find your tube video.
I've been doing Iyengar Yoga with certified teachers for 5 years and this video has helped me a lot to practice at home. It is obviously not for beginners and not a substitute for in-class training with an instructor there to correct us but to me, the verbal directions are good and extensive and it is great to supplement regular practice with an instructor. For people who have limitations or injuries (as I do), they should already know how to adapt the postures from practicing in-class with their instructor, and what postures to skip because it's beyond their capabilities at the moment.
Agree with all comments below that this should be renamed, since the approach and most of the asanas chosen by the instructor do not resemble any Iyengar instruction I have experienced. As someone who has been practicing Iyengar method for several years, my main objection to calling this Iyengar yoga is that with one or two limited exceptions, the instructor did not give alternative poses for those with injuries or conditions that would make it impossible or inadvisable to try to attain her form. But she is a really good instructor. Lots of verbal direction. I think this type of instruction could really help those who are practicing solely vinyasa. I have attended vinyasa-style instruction in public studios, and found that there is generally a complete lack of attention to alignment and safety, and no effort to include those of us who have significant physical limitations. Iyengar-inspired instruction could help those who prefer vinyasa practice to avoid injury.
Hey Gian, any type of Yoga, and indeed any type of exercise in general can help with better alignment and muscle strength in your body. Although we aren't physical therapists we can say with confidence that if you commit to a regular exercise routine and include weekly a form of Yoga weekly, you will start to see progress and better your condition over time.
I am an Iyenger student and enjoyed the video. I have sciatica problems and much prefer yoga to a chiropractor and her movements are very much like my classes with an Iyenger teacher.
I LOVE how you teach. Thank you so much for this video. Do you have any that you've done (for purchase OR on TH-cam) that have less explanation and accompanied by music for a smooth flowing practice? I'd love to have one or more of those for my daily practices.

I really like this video however the subtitles can't be turned off and they block the instructor's feet positioning. Is there some way to be able to turn the captions off? I've tried just turning captions off but they remain.
Okay all you Iyengar dogmatists -- upload some patriarchy-sanctioned(joking here, but you see my point?)-Iyengar-certified-instructor classes. There are way too few on the net so get on it. That said, I've been practicing with a Iyengar-certified instructor for 10 years and I enjoyed this class a lot.
It's all well and good to call something Iyengar Yoga - a lot of yoga teachers would like to call themselves Iyengar Yoga Teachers but don't have what it takes to actually go through the training to get certified!!!
Jessica is a lovely teacher and does a really good job in her own style, however, legally to teach Iyengar yoga using the copyright name, you have to be a fully qualified "Iyengar" Yoga teacher. The reason for that is that a lot of the teachings are misdirected, watered down and not communicated properly to students, thereby giving incorrect instructions at best and at worst, putting students in danger of injury with misdirected and misunderstood instructions and the wrong use of "props". The training for Iyengar teachers is lengthy (5 years minimum) and ongoing and comes directly from the teachings and life-long devotion to yoga of our Guru, BKS Iyengar. Your description of what Iyengar yoga is is inadequate although a good effort! If you really want to know what Iyengar yoga is, please visit the official site of BKS Iyengar at www.bksiyengar.com. Namaste
If you're suffering from back pain, depression, menopause and other ailments them Iyengar Yoga might be for you. means its good for me? what care should i be taking?
It might be to rename this video as Yoga for Alignment, inspired by Iyengar. My experience with Iyengar is that it's an orthodox practice. BKS would turn over in his grave. He had little patience for any digression from the practiced that didn't exactly replicate his instruction. Your video does not do that. Among other things, you teach it in a flow-like -- thus alignment comparatively careless and in direct contradiction to the style.
Overall, there is good stuff here. My issue is more with calling it Iyengar Yoga when it is not. But there are instructions that are at least misinformative, *especially* for beginners: the hips do not square in trikonasana & parsvakonasana (not without seriously compromising the front knee in the process) and "flat back" is often understood by beginners as eliminating the spinal curves… there's other things, but… MORE instruction is unnecessary; greater accuracy is :)
it is annoying that it's called Iyengar when it's not. it's pretty misleading, especially for new students. just call it yoga, just like any other commercial yoga. i think it would be much more appreciated without the Iyengar title. it actually takes WORK to get certified, years of training and practice, and a thorough awareness and understanding of anatomy and structure. I'm not an iyengar teacher yet, but a very dedicated student.. and i have amazing teachers, and from all i've learned, i see a lot of alignment issues in your asanas and the descriptions of the actions. it takes one month to get certified in whatever yoga. it takes AT LEAST a year for intro level one and two, and something like two DECADES to be a senior practitioner. there is a HUGE difference, and that's why iyengar is special. and also why people are protective of it.
The description lists this is from a certified instructor, but clearly she isn't. The title should not claim Iyengar certification, it takes 5 years to gain!
sidharrth shrivastava - All right. So chill on the "territory protection program". She seem totally capable of giving excellent advices. Are you feeling better inside now that you have lowered her knowledge and training ?
Certification was Mr. Iyengar's sanctioned protocol for the privilege of using his name to the purpose of safeguarding all would- be students that they were getting his method. Using his name without his consent and promoting a video by calling it Iyengar Yoga is standard western cultural appropriation.
This lovely young lady does not understand the tradition of Iyengar teaching. If respect is given to Mr. Iyengar or his legacy, please remove the "Iyengar" name from the title of this video.
No certified Iyengar teacher would have a short stance in Pavritta Trikonasana like that. I have no issues with her teaching but the name on the video is very misleading. This is not true to the art of Iyenga Yoga.
sorry there are lot of mistakes this is not iyengar Yoga, distance to short in lot of Asanas, no work in asanas, speaking during practise is nor practise nor teaching, dont say waht you are dooing we see waht you do, speak haow to do, why to do which, energie, which thinking which muscels and so what actions, ther si nor holding at all no holding no breatingis natually coming, busy busy busy
Nice video, but it has little to do with Iyengar yoga. Using a block and the word "alignment" doesn't make it Iyengar yoga. Call it "fitness yoga" because that's basically what it is-typical of YogaFit or other styles common in gyms that combines a few Iyengar-like cues, pilates, and western fitness concepts of stretch-not necessarily good or bad (although some instructions are entirely inaccurate). But to be clear, although some stuff may be borrowed from Iyengarism, this is *not* Iyengar yoga!
As a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher I can tell that you are not an Iyengar teacher!! You are breaching copy right calling it 'Iyengar" Yoga!! Your practise looks like anything goes!!

Thanks!
Your video informs, inspires & educates people around the world... to be happy, healthy & wealthy (at least spiritually). Thanks from Thailand.
I've been doing this video almost every day now for a year, its the best Iyengar video on youtube. I wish she'd do more but I can't find any.

Now, it is just my opinion, I am not a specialist though...

Lottie Parker I do iyenger yoga twice a week and these moves are all in
I watch this video each day for my practise. I might need to mix it up a bit but i enjoy it.
I really loved the instruction. Helped me to feel my asanas more deeply. 🙏

I just loved!! Thank you very much!!
Wonderful. Thank you
Thank you for a most wonderful class. Linda Ross
Thank you...this is so instructional for beginners
Lovely workout thank you
Great workout. Thanks alot....!
Got it working-Yay!
I like Jessica's flow, it really stretched me out! Does she have anything quicker/ more advanced?
It would be helpful to let music play at the end for 10 mins so we can relax. This set is very similar to my Iyengar certified teacher of 30 years.
Thx
Jessica, may I know the size of the block you are using what is it made of. Thank you.
Thank you for this video!

I agree with the comments below. She is a lovely teacher but this is not Iyengar yoga.
no sound :(
not an Iyengar Yoga Instructor. Not Iyengar yoga. Just leave the Iyengar name off of this and it becomes more truthful.
Probably first stop piracy of yoga from India before advising to drop Iyengar name.
If you're suffering from back pain, depression, menopause and other ailments them Iyengar Yoga might be for you.

Also, given the angry response to this video, it would be a gesture of respect to re-name it. Just sayin'.
Not working
Insult to the great Iyengar name.

sidharrth shrivastava - All right. So chill on the "territory protection program". She seem totally capable of giving excellent advices. Are you feeling better inside now that you have lowered her knowledge and training ?
Not a certified Iyengar teacher; not Iyengar Yoga. Take it off.
Certification is Western shite.
Well at least try to get the posture right. what you're showing is not good alignment at all!!
Certification was Mr. Iyengar's sanctioned protocol for the privilege of using his name to the purpose of safeguarding all would- be students that they were getting his method. Tricia Amheiser amazed how much a yoga teacher from Pune have mind share in west 😀👌

she is not a iyengar certified instructor
nevertheless its good work and well explained.
this is not Iyengar yoga....lol. Take it off pls, for the respect of BKS.
No certified Iyengar teacher would have a short stance in Pavritta Trikonasana like that. I have no issues with her teaching but the name on the video is very misleading. This is not true to the art of Iyenga Yoga.
with all due respect ... unless you're an iyengar trained instructor, you're not teaching iyengar yoga.
This is not Iyengar. Just look at the width of the legs
Lovely girl but this is not Iyengar :(

THIS NOT IYENGAR YOGA ,REMOVE THE NAME IMMEDIATELY,
This is NOT iyengar Yoga!
The poses, sequenceing and teaching is not how Iyengar trains their teacher's to teach.
As a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher I can tell that you are not an Iyengar teacher!! You are breaching copy right calling it 'Iyengar" Yoga!! Your practise looks like anything goes!!
this doesnt look an easy style of yoga
not iyengar
