So much hate, meanwhile Sept 2014 and some of this strat still comes in to play. Yeah maybe he's not one of the new-age MTT sickos like the ones u see playing all the SHR's, but his ideas are definitely still relevant and worth listening to.
That's no bluff. 55 or 66 will be a favorite to pretty much anything but an overpair. Pushing all-in with it is a perfectly viable strategy. Calling all-in with it could be a little iffy depending on who raises, position, number of callers, relative stack sizes, etc.
He was talking about moving in with a hand like A2 which would easily be dominated if anyone else has an ace. A mid-pair like 55 or 66 would only be dominated by an overpair so it's worth a shove.
Phil is almost correct... sometimes the super-loose aggro early on playing works and KEEPS working in the middle stages, if the table is full of tight medium stacks, who don't want to risk raising in case you FINALLY do have a decent hand. But small stacks, or looser players, will often re-pop and the maniacs will back down... until next hand :)
If you get aces and you are short stacked, calling automatically is risky but it at least gives you the chance totriple through. raising all-n scares away the customers.
Not when you're short-stacked. Unless you're holding a monster hand (which Phil would probably slow-play because of his post-flop skills), having 15bb or less makes winning 1.5bb a perfectly good win even when no one calls the raise.
really? he seems like a tight player as multiple times he states he minimizes his all in situations, usually tight players gets eaten by blinds. thus he likely is short stacked a lot. and since has has so much success over his life time. i'm sure he knows a thing or two.
If I had 11 WSOP bracelets, my own energy drink, and 10 mil a year in sponsors, I'd wear sunglasses and start sentences with any damn phrase I wanted to.
Before I watch the video or read the comments I am going to do something risky and ASSume something about the great Phill Hellmuth. I'm going to assume that he talks about how he's so different than the everyone else and how he "picks his spots" when playing in short stack situations. He's going to tell us to be giant nits basically, and he's probably going to say something about his "awesome reads." Alright, I put my self out there. Lets hope I don't look like an ass.
one day phil hellmuth will wake up with those damn sunglasses on and he'll find they won't come off. they will be stuck to his head for all of eternity:)))) wouldn't that be the day...
hellmuth short stack stategy is pretty basic. Didnt have to tell me that. That is already how i play short stack. I dont think hellmuth gives out his true stategy
Well not really. You see, he is one of the youngest WSOP winner. He has the the most WSOP bracelets. There are VERY few players that can actually win 1v1 vs him: Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey? I mean, yeah, his lack of emotion control is a serious weakness, but come on, he IS a good player.
Ya rly. PH might be tight in general, yet he's definitely shown a propensity to try to run over tables, tilt, let his ego get the better of him, etc. Also his success over lifetime doesn't really indicate much at all considering it's come exclusively from live mtts where even playing every event you can, you still will be very far from a meaningful sample even over the span of 25 years. I am not exaggerating here. Lastly his televised shortstack play is undoubtedly terrible.
Phil does act like a child and whine too much, which is why people like to make bad calls against him. Everyone wants to suck out on the poker brat. Hellmuth, however, is far from being a bad player. He continues to make deep runs in the WSOP main event and has had strong finishes in other tournaments. He won the NBC heads up poker championship in 2005, and he won his last bracelet in 2007, winning a 1500 dollar NLHE event, He's still got it; the problem is he talks too much at the table.
That girl has just no clue what he is talking about, she's not even listening to him. She just read's the questions from the paper (which I'm sure somebody else wrote)!
If you're going to give someone some information on playing poker why I picked the worst one this guy is so bad in playing poker every video you look at is him losing and throwing a tantrum complaining calling people names you going to pick someone wanted to pick Phil Ivey now that's the best poker player there is that's out there the best pro poker players Phil Ivey Phil Hellman is the worst there's beginners that play Phil Hellmuth and when a lot so if you're going to pick someone to do the talkin definitely do not pick Philip Hellman
phil used to be a good player, but he has been in the game so long, and won a lot of bracelets, and he still acts like a child anytime he loses a hand. there is still an amount of luck involved and sometimes sh!t happens, but this guy acts like a 2 year old
Poker players are a joke, you can't watch a youtube video about poker with some so called pro bashing pro players like Hellmuth. How many bracelets to these youtube pros have? 1 thing I've learned in life is that the majority of people in the world are incredibly stupid. Yet somehow, 99% of players whove approached the felt are world reknowned experts.
why's he gotta wear shades in an interview? is he trying to hide that he's bluffing?
Hides his eyes. Staring at her juggeroos.
Heck? I'd do it too. Except I wouldnt wear the shades. I want her to see my dirty eyes..
So he doesn’t get caught looking at her tits… 🤷♂️ Hope you have learned this stuff by now.
A week ago I wouldn't have understood any of this. I've learned an alien language.
PH was really ahead of the curve here.
So much hate, meanwhile Sept 2014 and some of this strat still comes in to play. Yeah maybe he's not one of the new-age MTT sickos like the ones u see playing all the SHR's, but his ideas are definitely still relevant and worth listening to.
These are great questions. Nice work in the interview

my goood she's so cute beeing little nervous . Love it !

can somebody explain how to make a title of a youtube video your background picture on your computer?
thanks

@OldplusNew DISCIPLINE IS WHAT MAKES HIM GREAT
Ok, you convinced me.
Decent basics for a recreational player. Some insight to be learned, with a grain of salt of course. It is Phil after all.
What are they drinking?
11 Bracelets from WSOP, he´s just great player
If you get aces and you are short stacked, calling automatically is risky but it at least gives you the chance totriple through. raising all-n scares away the customers.
lol thats me, spot on, i play to agressive at the start get loaded up but i dont know when to stop... to much bluffing is killing my bank
or poker in general ;)
@mikeusat : Exactly. What the hell does he know? He's only won more No Limit Texas Hold 'Em tournaments than anyone.
it's definitely a problem for him that not everybody knew he was a pro player, that's why he wore this shirt and markets that brand. it's smart.
Not when you're short-stacked. Unless you're holding a monster hand (which Phil would probably slow-play because of his post-flop skills), having 15bb or less makes winning 1.5bb a perfectly good win even when no one calls the raise.
people are so simple. dudes especially. great comments...
shes got the goods
@azreax cuz 2007 has been so long ago 4 years DAM!
Damn. 12 fucking years!
Juice as in juice, or juice as in beer or some shit you can become a pokerpro of drinking?
really? he seems like a tight player as multiple times he states he minimizes his all in situations, usually tight players gets eaten by blinds. thus he likely is short stacked a lot. and since has has so much success over his life time. i'm sure he knows a thing or two.
shed get it
If I had 11 WSOP bracelets, my own energy drink, and 10 mil a year in sponsors, I'd wear sunglasses and start sentences with any damn phrase I wanted to.
she's fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine
If you read the posts you would realise that i wasn't advocating either of nthose things.

dundundun, wrong.
Pushing all-in when short-stacked, that is, for people with short attention spans.
RealestMcKoy ..... he is just the player with most titles in the world
i dont agree with this short stack strategy although its good to make the money but you cant play scared
I don't know about the rest of you, but I just clicked this video to stare at Lizzy.
That chick is totally digging Phil. Wonder where her foot is under the table..
@allard112 lol I do that almost all the time at a poker table with a gorgeous babe like her on the table =]
Let's see those beautiful eyes Phil
one day phil hellmuth will wake up with those damn sunglasses on and he'll find they won't come off. they will be stuck to his head for all of eternity:)))) wouldn't that be the day...
you don't go all in. You go all in if someone raises you, otherwise you raise you don't go all in...
fthat basically ment nothing haha. First he says slow play then says move in. Make up your mind bud. Its all based on situations.
hellmuth short stack stategy is pretty basic. Didnt have to tell me that. That is already how i play short stack. I dont think hellmuth gives out his true stategy
omg PH rly is just about the last person I'd take advice from when dealing with shortstack situations

even in his blogs he does that
Well not really.
