The Nokia 6310i is bomb proof. I've been using mine for the best part of twenty years and it's still going strong. The battery will last three days without charging.
Thanks for sharing this brilliant find with us, Matt. All of these older cars you're bringing to the channel are absolute gems... so much more interesting than newer cars 😃
I had a standard ML as a loaner, of similar vintage, once. If you think the ML AMG is "not quick", it's under-horsed brother was hopeless. Absolutley no get up and go at all. Drove like a tank and accelerated like one, too. Thanks for sharing, Matt.
I drrove the 350. It actually pulled somewhat when you floored it. Dont really need more than that for any practical reasons at legal speeds. Unless youre going to use it on the Autobahn constantly.
have just bought a SLK 200 to do up, never driven one before, but rear wheel drive with winter tyres on it still gets about, any car needs driven I can see it being fun in the summer
What a brilliant addition to the collection ... It has appeal and presence for those in the know 👍 Maybe a trip to Mercedes Headquarters where you may gain a personal tour and evaluation on your ML55 from the factory 👌.... Nice Mercedes always gets the nod of approval
A cool car for sure. Problem here in the States is that owners ran the crap out of them. That no one takes care of their autos is no surprise. The ML55 has become a rare find as of late. They were a high overhead auto…which practically no one wanted to keep up. Sad, because the ML55 is a unique item. Thanks for your enjoyable video.
I hadn't even watched 60 seconds of the vid before I knew this was going to be a keeper! Having said that, it does look like it has found the right person...
My missus had a Y reg ML320 with 7 seats & the full chrome bar kit. The car was 2 years old & she really liked it I didn’t. I thought it drove horribly on motorways, very underpowered & the steering wheel looked like it came from a transit van. She traded it in for a X5 4.6is M-Sport which was a 10x better car!
From the moment you climbed out of it at playing field and said “you know what this means…”, I just knew you were going to keep it! Enjoy the new addition. And Happy New Year!
@@HighPeakAutos It was. She's in pristine condition and drove her from Sydney to Cairns. I watched your other w163 videos and they helped with my decision of buying one. Thanks!
I have an 02 270 ML. It needs a bit of work, rust starting to show in a few spots etc. I was going to move it on, but having seen a few loved examples while abroad, I have decided to get the work done and keep it. I think they are one of those older cars that may grow in how people regard them.
Definitely take the rear seats out! I’ve got none in the back of my 2000 ML320 and the boot is huge! Not a fan of the rear seats in this era of ML. Great car though! 🤩
Even with a 5.4lt naturally aspirated V8 I've never thought an ML was quick. 😂 Not a fan generally of them we've a couple customers who have them and they never inspire my day when I see they're booked in. Still this will be lavished and kept on the road which is the main thing. 🙂👍
I had a ML270CD 25 years ago and I really liked it. But my wife felt sick quite frequently because of the wallowy suspension. Mine had a computer, overhead, so your AMG should be equipped.
I never saw one of those with 7 seats, despite knowing their existence.. is it rare? Even more considering it's a 55 AMG.. I do like the low profile stance and the sense of raw power of these V8s.. really cool one Matt!
Hi Matt I'd love to see this have a full indepth detail, including ice blasting the chassis and the engine bay, getting it looking as good as the day it left Germany than have the underside fully wax oiled. Just so it looks good in another 24 years 😍
You will spend far more on tidying this car up as usual but you know that. Great content it will be good subject for Sam at SPR. Look forward to part two when it's sorted.😄👍👍
You really made my day Matt. The look on your face and your sheer enjoyment, was just like a wee boy that had asked Santa for a particular item and it turned up on Christmas day fulfilling all his dreams. 😂
I think you are wrong about the 7 seats. If the third row windows open that is a factory 7 seater not just had them fitted. And if Merc never did a ML55 with 7 seats….. that’s not a 55. But I think you could get the 55 with 7 seats and that’s a rare thing now!
Amg’s all had electric pop out windows even though they weren’t 7 seater. They where all as well set up to have a full size spare in the boot to the left as the twin exit exhaust and extended fuel tank meant no spare underneath
At least it has sensible tyres on it for off-road. My E400d All-Terrain has 35-profile run-flat tyres which get easily destroyed on pot holes let alone off-road.
Matt I love you videos, this last one with the Mercede nice car and you say I think I keep this one ,where do you keep all these cars, some giant garage would be great mate 😅😅
Enjoy! I owned a 2001 ML 270 CDI back in 2009, put about 200 000km on it, I remember it had a small display right up above the interior mirror showing average fuel consumption, no idea if the 55 AMG will have the same.
What a cool car, I bought the exact same car in the same Tanzanite blue in 2007. I think new it was around £60k but fuel had just shot up to around £130p a litre so I picked up off a trader for £6500. Little bit of TLC and it was one of the best cars we've owned. Not exactly a dynamic drive but all that car with a lovely AMG V8 for peanuts. When we eventually sold it I met a German bloke at Manchester airport who had flown over to buy it and drive home. Probably still going 😂. Good luck with your's Mat
Really loved my ml500 until it rapidly started having uneconomical repairs and I had to sell for scrap. Got no more than 16mpg, did have a trip computer where the rear view mirror was though, that also fell off quite easily - I loved the power and it was one of my favourite cars I’ve owned but electrical issues/ radiator/ steering rack esp/bas/ traction control light made me give up after putting a couple grand in to fixing. Even the merc specialist was scratching his head unable to sort it. If you do come to sell this one, I could be tempted. Getting 20mpg out of my e39 525 touring and similar with my v70 2.5t so losing another 4 won’t be the end of the world for me.
I think we need an update on all your personal cars because this is definitely one of them now.

Road tax is killing big cars in the UK
its not just big cars, its cars with any fun in them.
@seat420
All part of the regime to take cars of the road. We need to stop this.
Yea, we in Ireland are jealous about your ridiculously low road tax. This merc would be €1600 if pre 2008 July or €2600 + if after 2008 July.
Yall have it easy, ever seen tax rates for cars in Ireland? This car would be 1250 euro a year minimum lol
@lirmeaney6255
That's because the Irish are paying for their replacements.

6,8 secs 0-100 km/h.
Probably accurate since Car and Driver did 0-60 mph in 6.8. Loaded with all their test equipment etc.

I like how as soon as I've beat my V8 addiction, Matt seems to have picked it up! 😂
Defo do a winter trip with the merc and find some off-roading to do.
Awaiting part 2 👍
Just wait until Sam gets hold of this. As he says AMG = all money gone!
the ML55 AMG is so damn rare even if you check websites here in Ireland the only popular ones are the 2006-2010 series that's the face change model.
Super rare here in the states too. Also rarer is finding a face lifted model with those projector headlights

When you consider that this was in competition with the P38 Rangerover - the contrast in build quality is amazing. Nice purchase Matt. Well done
Build quality of the ML wasn't the best in the world (Lexus had that covered), but it wasn't as bad as the P38 Range Rover (or even the early L322).

Great to see you found one of these after talking about these for a while. The ML love in continues 😂
I remember driving a 2000 one of these and it was mad, lots of power and the steering felt so light and weird for such a big unit. Loved it !!

I inherited those on a previous ML that I owned. First thing I got rid of!
Got £300 for them though. No accounting for taste!
looking forward to seeing it on an SPR video , looks good for the year and price.
