Glad people like Tom are getting exposure. Dude has been great on camera since day one on Auto Alex and has been better and better every time he's been on.
My favourite Range Rover fault was on a P38, I was trying to find a fault with something, looked up the fault display operation, and found that the manual says something to the effect of "If Fault Display is blank, either there are no faults, or Fault Display is broken". Absolutely top work there Solihull, thanks for that.
A fine choice of automobile! Hope she goes well for you, the 4.4 TDV8 + 8HP is a match made in heaven. 226k miles on mine so far and still going like the proverbial steam train!

The ideal daily. Well apart from the massive tax, terrible mpg, high insurance, high theft rate, high chance of a breakdown and likelyhood of expensive repairs. Ideal daily if content makes you money maybe.
We Brits get a kick out of seeing a JLR car breaking down all the time as it's always been a bit of a meme, but also we get our fill when these guys repair/restore them. There's something so satisfying about it and serves as a constant reminder to all of us to never buy a JLR car... but also you should consider buying a JLR car. Or don't. But do. Ugh.
I bought a 2014 L405 4.4 V8 Autobiography a couple of years ago and I’ve almost got it up to your mileage now. Without a doubt it is the best family car I’ve ever owned: comfortable, classy and coolant hungry.
Tom is a gem of a man/mechanic! Every time I find a good/capable specialist, turns out they questionably overcharge on parts or labor, dont report new findings/fix small little jobs while theyre working on X, and just generally take advantage of their status as a local specialist. Honesty is, unfortunately, rare in the trades nowadays.
I could never see myself getting rid of my L322 4.4 TDV8, best car I’ve ever had. Regular servicing with good quality correct spec oil and preventative maintenance with OEM parts and you won’t go wrong.
Thank god for Tom Lenthal being such a genuine mechanic and garage owner! I wonder how much a less morally motivated mechanic and or Land Rover dealership would have charged for such a small fix?
Some cool looking old Jags at that garage. keep pressing that heated seat button Will, my Volvo 940's heated seat started working after a year of me randomly pressing it every so often....just in time for the heater matrix to spit its dummy out 😂
Welcome to the world of dizzying highs and terrifying lows! Had my 2010 3.6 L322 for five years and LOVE it. Only left me stranded once too, not bad going :D
I’ve got one doing this at the moment in the workshop. I found it to be the level sensors but as soon as I replace one it would throw another. Replaced all four brand new. All four from Keith gott for just under £250
I think it’s quite telling that TDC views has considerably more than Autoalex second channel - Not knocking Autoalex neither Taylor who by the way I think makes than channel, but these two are epic. I even lean more to All the gear rather than any Autoalex stuff recently.
I don't watch any other auto Alex show other than TDC and 2DC. AA is just buying cars (the same models) forced laughter, and no crescendo - similar to many vapid American style shows. Will and Edwin have a great chemistry and formula going, easily my favourite TH-cam channel(s) currently
With Tom in your corner, there will never come a time you need to get rid of this. Have him fix everything and just have him check it once or twice a year. You will keep this thing rolling with his help until Tom is using a walker.
Never mind peak Range Rover, it’s peak car, get a sorted one, spend a bit of money and you have a timeless car that is equally at home on a farm with sheep in the back or pulling up outside the Ritz, will sit on a motorway at 85 all day long but can also kick pretty much everything’s ass off road🤷♂️
These cars do need looking after and keeping on top of the maintenance. You really can't mend them for free. The rust needs to be sorted at some point, else it'll be a MOT failure down the line. Alas, people will keep the car for a short time and passit on without having addressed the issues. BTW I've used Tom Lenthall's garage for repairs on my Land Rover Discovery, and I'd highly recommend them.
I had an 1982 w126 S280 that I was dailying in 2000ish. Epic car, it had a power steering leak and I kept topping it up. I must have put £50-60 of fluid in it by the time I eventually bothered to track down the leak to a small steel transfer pipe. I eventually thought I'd bite the bullet and phone Mercedes for a price. Sitting down and ready for the bad news, the verdict: £6. It was a 5 minute fix. Dumb ass.
The way you say "I've been driving this BMW diesel X5 for SIX MONTHS" like it's such a long time.... car YTers are just built different. I have an Altezza I've owned for 19 years at this point and I'm not going to replace it until it dies...
Love the videos , but you shouldn't use a jubilee clip on the coolant. The expansion clips are designed to expand with the temperature. A jubilee clip won't allow the expansion and cause issues
My dads sport has been a nightmare, similar age and mileage. So far, suspension, brake lines, hit-and-run into the back, a tree fell on the front, both turbos went, alternator, new sidesteps, countless punctures and alloy repairs. But he still won't get rid.
Absolutely blows my mind that a £4200k car is being treated like it is just above scrap. Something to be driven until it inevitably explodes and then you ditch it for parts.
Next week.... Will buys a dream car! The week after that..... Will buys a dream car! British TH-camrs buying Range Rovers at this time of the year? Maybe cos it's winter in the UK & there's not many options to buy a different marque due to salted/gritted roads. How about undersealing the body so they don't rust? Not a hard thing to do!
With your suspension having an intermittent problem, have you looked in the spare wheel well for water ingress? You may need to buy some goldfish for it if it is anything like ours was 🤣
