Are you using a stitch regulator? And a speed control?

I have the brother pq 1500sl also and I can’t find a ruler foot that works with my machine. The ruler foot you have link for from honeysew is that what I need to purchase? Do I need anything else to make it work with my brother machine? Does the ruler foot work well? Thanks for this video.

Hi Teresa I was looking at my answer.. and gee I am so sorry. Here is the link for the Janome convertible free motion foot and the frame set. it's important to have the frame set so that it's oriented the best way on the Cutie frame www.amazon.com/Janome-Convertible-otion-Quilting-1600P/dp/B00DQBVFUO and the frame set is : www.amazon.com/HONEYSEW-Motion-Quilting-Convertible-767-434-005/dp/B06XHBHQZM/ref=pd_bxgy_img_sccl_1/147-3399510-8327710?pd_rd_w=Rduzk&content-id=amzn1.sym.7757a8b5-874e-4a67-9d85-54ed32f01737&pf_rd_p=7757a8b5-874e-4a67-9d85-54ed32f01737&pf_rd_r=PNCBK2REYMH97D9Y894V&pd_rd_wg=rGBzx&pd_rd_r=a2545a98-9a7d-4905-b5c2-66b7c8f169a9&pd_rd_i=B06XHBHQZM&psc=1

I'd like to ask a question about your settings for FMQ - I am using a Grace Frame Q-zone Queen size; I'm confused re: stitch length, foot pressure (in what range on machine gauge) and the thread tension most often used (I know it depends on fabric, but this is quilting cottons, batting, and backing. Did you have to adjust the bobbin tension screw?

    • @theclosetquilterelliemiria198

What machine - it all depends on your machine, thread and needle. Give me more information about your set up please. Machine, thread, needle

@@theclosetquilterelliemiria198 -the machine im trying iutbis a Brother Nouvelle 1500S . Stitches beautifully . Problem now is the thread keeps breaking every 6-12”. Rethreaded, changed the needle, decreased my needle tension and pressure foot tension. Stitches even -maybe a bit of top thread showing a bit on bottom.regular guiterman thread.
Thanks appreciate all the hell i can get.
I had been using my old pfaff 1222 (47 years old but has a small throat space), do trying my friends brother straight stitch.

@@denisegamroth5996 ok so you have the same machiene.. so the foot pressure is on the N... the top tension is just above 3, I'm using glide thread and a microtex needle 80/10 I think BUT if you have a wide back backing fabric you may need to use a universal needle . check it out. :) GOOD LUCK

On the machine it tells you the needle sizes to use do you see it? I use Schmetz Microtex (Sharp) 130/705 H-M 80 /12 Needles and love them :)

I am quilting on a Cutie tabletop hoop frame made by The Grace Co www.grace frame.com with a high speed straight stitch machine by brother called PQ1500s ( now the SL). the machine sits on a carriage that has handles allowing me to move the machine on top of the hooped quilt sandwich that has been basted.

The domestic MidArm sits upon a carriage and with the handles I move it as it stitches- this is called free motion quilting
