For anyone reading the comments. An easier way is to take a small piece of tape and put it around the part of the wheels shaft that goes into the encoder. Much easier to put it back in that way.
Dropped my wireless mouse on the floor one too many times. Scroll wheel has been bouncing up and down on every page for days, driving me crazy. This did the trick, thank you!!!
MAN YOU ARE A LIFESAVER. You cant imagine how bad my scrolling problem was!!I wasnt even using the scroll of the mouse for the last year or so.Completely broken! But the trick with the paper worked like a charm and now i got smooth scroll again! Thank you for the video you just earned a sub!!!
Thank you mate, now my scroll works as it was intended to. After 3 fucking years, because i bought a new mouse and wasn't afraid to tear down the broken one... But a spare one will always come in handy
Hi guys! I'll just share what worked for me because I can't quite follow this since my mouse is wireless. I blew on the scroller since it has little gaps on the side, thinking maybe it just had dust or debris stuck inside or around it. I kept blowing like pressured air on it while scrolling it up and down (while it is connected to my pc) and it worked! This is an easier fix for this problem since you don't have to disassemble your mouse and all. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for this! I've been having this issue with my Steelseries Rival 700, and I really didn't want to drop another $100 on a new mouse. It was a pain in the ass to take it apart and get to the encoder, but it was all worth it. The mouse wheel scrolls like it's brand new. Hopefully this lasts for a while.
you did it ! i tried many "solutions" provided by many peoples but your solution it the only one working. I suspected a hardware problem... because of greedy ppl who want to built their product at the lowest cost possible... which lead to this kind of trouble. Again, MANY THANKS !
This is by far simplest repair instruction I have seen on youtube but turns out to be the best result. surprise manufactories haven't made any improvement these days. @Microsoft, @Logitech...
You are a savior man.. I was using the mouse with busted scroll for more than 2 years.. I was about to throw it out.. thanks.. it is working as new. and have subscribed your channel
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER IN QUARANTINE EVERYWHERE :) luckily i also owned the same make & model of the mouse in video & worked exactly through it.. thanks alot man :)
Fantastic clear idea. I was about to throw ought my HP mouse. I used your Technik before ordering a new one. It was successful and working fine. Please continue publishing such handy useful tricks to meet day today problems.
Excellent worked like a charm for me. Just make sure and put your cover back exactly like it was. All mice are little different and realized my right and left clicking buttons had a little lip on the bottom of the cover they had to go under for proper fit. Thanks!!!!!!!!!
Uncheck "HIDE POINTER WHILE TYPING"!!! ...for those who have this problem take a sec first and just try unchecking this in... control panel < Hardware and sound < Mouse < Pointer options(tab) < Hide pointer while typing(uncheck this) For some weird reason this solved my problem of the wheel going in the opposite direction sometimes when i scroll, so glad i figured this out it was driving me crazy!
thanks! this method worked on my rapoo wireless mouse. i couldn't insert a paper though so i just used those faber castell tack its, and it worked just the same! saved me like $15 on buying a new one, i really wanted to repair it because it's a bit expensive and came with a keyboard. thanks again!
While trying to do it. I felt like something broke. But it was just the circuit that came out of its position 😅. Btw it was my first self repair and it went smoothly
Holy guacamole! It really works. Finally. I got 2 cheap gaming mouses kept under my bed. Now they are both working like new. Thanks dude. I have thrown away so many in the past because of this issue.
I already got the same mouse as in the video exchanged once due to the jumping issue only for the new piece to face the same problem after a week from warranty expiry. You saved me bro! Thanks a bunch!!
Can't thank you enough. It worked. My Keyboard+Mouse combo started working again. However, the rotating is a bit harder now. I think I need to find an optimal thickness of the paper
Amazing!!! I tried fixing my mouse 3 times by other videos. It again and again stops working after fixing, but after applying your method it is working way batter than the brand new scroll wheel. Thanks man you saved me from ordering a new mouse. Thanks a Lot ❤
I used a small spring. 1)opened up the encoder's metallic case(be careful not to break the case) 2)put one end of the spring on the outside of the small metallic plate that keeps the inner encoder wheel tight/compressed to the plastic case 3)the other end on the out side where the shaft of the wheel is inserted 4)Then closed up the main metallic case This will tighten the inner wheel and create sort of compression Note: when the inner rotating mechanism is loose because of the small metallic plate losing its rigidity over time is what cause the scroll wheel to be all jumpy. Putting a paper like this only make the wheel hard to turn but doesnt fixes the main cause of the problem
what a good short and universal video! thanks a lot! the part that goes into the encoder was almost like a cylinder with all the edgest smoothened, been struggling for a while and now it's like brand new!
THANK YOU THANK YOU. I also found the piece that holds the wheel axle where the SMALL piece of paper was loose. I carefully bent the 2 tabs that hold the part in place to tighten it up and mouse is now like new.
This made my mouse so much better! I didnt do a perfect job because I half assed putting the shell back together, and the paper wasnt big enough, but it went from completely unusable to semi usable. Thnx mate
Thanks man . i fixed it . Also if anyone having trouble opening your mouse . sometime there is screws under the small bads or the sticker . you need to unscrews them to open it . you know you have more if the mouse did not open easily .
Thanks a lot! I would never have come up with this idea. But a warning to those who own this kind of 'ergonomic' mouse with the buttons and the wheel on a slanted plane. Those have three PC boards inside and three times more screws. But still the hack works, just a little more work.
For the Tecknic 6D game mouse, I could never get the scroll wheel out, but could get an improvement of scrolling by just removing all the gunk inside. Of course, it was easy to open it. It's just held together with two screws and a one of those "ingenious" snap methods. However, even though I can see exactly how it should work, I couldn't get it back together. Finally got my son to crank/snap/crank/bang it somehow together. Turns out, the wheel scrolling is better but still doesn't work 100 percent. Solution: I use now two mice. One pretty much dedicated to scrolling in documents. 🙂
I didn't have to take mine apart because I just blew into my mouse and a load of dust flew out. (Yes, I literally put my mouth over the mouse wheel and gave it the kiss of life). Thank you and goodnight.
@@zeljkoholik5594 UPDATE: Blowing into the mouse only worked for a couple of weeks, then same problem. I took the mouse apart and saw lots of fluff around where the mouse wheel goes into the encoder. I removed the fluff and that worked for another week or so but in the end I had to take it apart again and put a very small piece of paper in (not folded, any more than one layer wouldn't fit) - now my mouse works, the mouse wheel is slightly stiff to scroll but I'm just happy it's working perfectly and I don't have to use more of Earth's precious resources buying another mouse! All's well that ends well. Moral of the story - take your mouse apart and follow this great video!
Love you, thanks! My scroll wheel also feels a lot stiffer now which is nice. If it doesn't fit at first like it did with mine, try a smaller piece of paper, it might work just fine.

yeah i just bought a new mouse i dont even have tools lol

This is a life saver, thanks a lot man, our hero!!
You saved a Blender's user life. Scroll wheel is mandatory on this program.
Too bad 99% of high end gaming mice hide the screws under the glide pads. Removing them renders the mouse almost unusable

I had this for two years and almost wanted to buy a new mouse, but after watching I changed my mind (really helped me bro)! :D
POOR!
that actually worked, and I was a sceptical at first
Wtf man that really worked for my mice i cant believe, you're a wizard of mices
This is by far simplest repair instruction I have seen on youtube but turns out to be the best result. surprise manufactories haven't made any improvement these days. @Microsoft, @Logitech...
Holy hell, thank you. Learning about the basic mechanics of a mouse wheel helped me fix mine today!
Worked perfectly, no more annoying, bouncing, pages.
You are a savior man.. I was using the mouse with busted scroll for more than 2 years.. I was about to throw it out.. thanks.. it is working as new. and have subscribed your channel
2020 .. good videos still exist .. thanks man .. tried it and my mouse work perfectly
HOLY SHIT!!!!!! This paper trick actually worked!!!!! Thanks, mate, I owe you one.
Quick Update: not 100%, but the scrolling is 95% better.

This is simpler to practice and much more better than other videos. Thanks a lot!
Wow, mate, worked fine! This kind of Mcgverism is pure art! Thanks
I didn't have time to fix mine so i bought a new one and it broke within a month so now i tried fixing my old mouse and it worked. Thanks a lot man.
it got me about an hour because of the tiny world that exists in the mouse but it totally works ! Thanks for the help dude
Much appreciated my friend. You saved me the hassle of buying a new mouse.

It seems funny but actually worked!! however, my scrolling wheel became lil bit tighter than usual
BRAVO!!
just restored a 8 year old mouse. A big thank you, buddy

Great....bro in the situation like covid 19 you saved me from going out ..... working perfectly fine
Thank You man Finally my scroll Bar is working after a long time
A simple piece of paper works in my case as well. Many thanks for uploading this video.

I tried fixing my mouse 3 times by other videos. It again and again stops working after fixing, but after applying your method it is working way batter than the brand new scroll wheel. Thanks man you saved me from ordering a new mouse. Thanks a Lot ❤
Thanks it worked. There is definitely a gap in the encoder grove which got filled by putting a small piece of paper inside it.
Thanks dude; a simple yet an effective solution.
I had the exact same mouse and problem ! Followed the steps and it worked ! Thanks bud !
Not many things in life work as expected this video is gold.
very nice fixed the issue and made the wheel feel stiffer very nice
Thanks mate! I was tired of cleaning my RazerNaga without success. Makes total sense now.
Just cleaning the hole fixed it for me. I didn't think it would work. Thanks
Used air duster to clean the decoder and shimmed it with paper, works great! In a few minutes the mouse is good as new.
Thanks, A Lot bro! It's the same model I have and the same issue being faced. This video helps me a lot to solve the issue.
This is an absolute life saver. Almost ordered a new mouse online. Thanks a lot
I used a small spring.
1)opened up the encoder's metallic case(be careful not to break the case)
2)put one end of the spring on the outside of the small metallic plate that keeps the inner encoder wheel tight/compressed to the plastic case
3)the other end on the out side where the shaft of the wheel is inserted
4)Then closed up the main metallic case
This will tighten the inner wheel and create sort of compression
Note: when the inner rotating mechanism is loose because of the small metallic plate losing its rigidity over time is what cause the scroll wheel to be all jumpy.
Putting a paper like this only make the wheel hard to turn but doesnt fixes the main cause of the problem
after watching tons of videos, i can't believe a fucking piece of paper fixed the problem.... Thanks
I was going to buy a new mouse, but this video helped me fix my mouse, and it's working fine now. Thanks a lot !!
thanks a lot brother..putting small piece of paper is a good idea instead of spraying wd-40 and petrol in the encoder, like other videos
what a good short and universal video! thanks a lot! the part that goes into the encoder was almost like a cylinder with all the edgest smoothened, been struggling for a while and now it's like brand new!
It took me 2:28 minutes to figure out the problem properly. It was helpful by the way.
Fantastic Video. Worked and easy fix.
lol tysm, opened it by myself and gave it a nice clean, still wasn't working properly, that little piece of paper made all the difference.
