I also tend to skip filler arcs, with no exception for One Piece. But I strongly recommend you watch the G-8 arc (ep 196 ~ 206). It's a filler arc, but a very fun arc. It's the best filler arc I've seen in any long running anime.

Most of the filler are movie tie ins if I remember correctly. And the original fillers (G8) are really good. I'd say the only filler you truly need to skip is the second half of Longering Long Land.

The thing about One Piece is that from early on you can tell that its going to be a very very long series. The first like 50 episodes in East Blue i would consider that the prologue of the series. When you have characters you like with a story as captivating as One Piece its exciting. lve been watching consistently fir the last 18 years of my Life its become a constant Every Saturday a new One Piece Episode!!!

Just so you know this video is outdated by half a decade, so there's now actually nearly 1000 named characters, 1047 chapters so far, and it has already surpassed Batman (all titles collectively) in lifetime sales and is on it's way to superman. Although on a technicality it already should be much higher since One Piece is published in Weekly Shonen Jump and the current lifetime sales don't include that as it contains other series as well, and only count the actual manga volumes. One Piece as it stands probably has 5-10 years left (but that's an estimate based only on the fact it feels like there can't be many more arcs left as arcs are so long) Also it's only like 7-10% filler, I just read a coloured version of the manga so I missed the filler but I've heard the first filler arc (G-8 arc) is good and the rest are skippable

One piece recently out sold Batman becoming the 2nd most selling comic/ manga of all time. When ever the final chapter comings out probably with the next 4-8 years, the sales will sky rocket and probably take Superman as well

if you get to a part that really drags(this really becomes noticeable in the later episodes), you could watch "One Pace" if you like. It's the anime condensed down to just what's in the manga, and makes the pacing a ton better. But it's up to you, and for the first 300 episodes, the pacing isn't bad.

One very important thing we must keep in mind is that Superman Started in 1938 and Batman shortly after, whereas One Piece started in 1997... so in less than half the time it has outsold both of them, which in my estimation makes it the true GOAT. Plus neither Superman or Batman have whole cultures dedicated to them.

Most of the filler episodes doesn't even take 5 episodes, most are just comedy gold.... .. and the long serious ones are placed in between arcs so they never appear too intrusive... Filler scenes are those you have to get used to.. think of it as dragonBall's looooooong yelling, still shots, and staring that takes up most of the episodes..
On sub vs dub in general. Few English VAs hit like Japanese VAs. There are some anime like Trigun or Cowboy Bebop where the English VAs do a great job, but those aren't the norm.

There is around 120 or so episodes of filler in 1000 anime episodes. You can easily skip all of them but some people will ask you to reach to one story in them because its really fun and really good
yeah i see why people dont want to watch 1000+ episodes, but its that much cause the story is that good, they have tons of buildup for a big fight, which means that the actual fight and victory mean so much more. There are also many huge mysteries that are tied into the story that have yet to really be explained and there are tons of fan theories about them.

In One Piece, If you don't know it's a filler then it won't feel like a filler because in early anime you would even get some canon information in the filler and in later part of the anime, fillers are only 3-4 episode long and are premises for the movies which helps you to decide where to watch the movies. I just come from a 5-hour video of a dude lecturing his friends on the world and plot of One Piece... And damn, he didn't even go in-depth on a lot of things. The world seems so natural, it's easy to overlook how staggering and complex this world is, even when you know and advocate for it. I hardly realized the video was actually that long... Its called: "One Piece 101 | PCP University Lecture" And sub 100%! I personally only watch dub when I randomly find animes on TH-cam. I enjoy them, but it's not like I care too much. Just some light entertainment. Could never watch dub on anything I am actually interested in and/or plan to watch. But One Piece dub is so cartoony and over the top. It feels unnatural, and the Japanese voice actors are so so good! Luffy's voice actress knows what she is doing.
Started One Piece at 9; I'am 25 now, What a jounrey, it's special to follow a serie for so long ! And don't worry, Oda the author said that it will end in approximately 5/7 years, and let me tell you, the material is set up at the beginning so it's not added content just for the sake of continuing! Edit: About the fillers, I personnaly don't watch them when I'am watching the serie for the first times, except the few ones that preview a movie to come, there are lists you can check to know which filler are interesting. Fun fact, of the big three One Piece has the least fillers, around 90 for 1000 episodes, which is not a lot compared to Bleach or Naruto !

Most of the filler episodes doesn't even take 5 episodes, most are just comedy gold.... .. and the long serious ones are placed in between arcs so they never appear too intrusive...
Filler scenes are those you have to get used to.. think of it as dragonBall's looooooong yelling, still shots, and staring that takes up most of the episodes..
On sub vs dub in general. Few English VAs hit like Japanese VAs. There are some anime like Trigun or Cowboy Bebop where the English VAs do a great job, but those aren't the norm.
Anime fans dont realize that with long animes you can enjoy them longer
please do sub! dont want to hate on the dub. but the voice actors of the dub has no chance expressing the level of emotion the original sub voice actors does. they are legends
There is around 120 or so episodes of filler in 1000 anime episodes. You can easily skip all of them but some people will ask you to reach to one story in them because its really fun and really good

yeah i see why people dont want to watch 1000+ episodes, but its that much cause the story is that good, they have tons of buildup for a big fight, which means that the actual fight and victory mean so much more. There are also many huge mysteries that are tied into the story that have yet to really be explained and there are tons of fan theories about them.

watch one piece with the original audio, it's deffinatly not the same experience dob because a lot of voice actors are really good at that and make some's tipes of voices, sound, japannese jokes with the sound, and it would be deffinatly not the same full one piece experience i think, example, the franky'suuuuuuuper, (it's something that a crew member always say) in japanesse will feel completely different if it is dob, or the brook's laugh, it is completly different the laugh from brook (the skeleton) it's very intresting and very well maked (it's like a yohohohohoho) but like he was crazy, there is a video where the originals voice actors says some words as their characters, you could react to it, it's very short, it's only 2 mns, and it will be very intresting if you react to it, the video's name is one piece voice actors -2019 [ One Piece Stampede ], soooo yep, it's a complete different experience the japanesse voice
In One Piece, If you don't know it's a filler then it won't feel like a filler because in early anime you would even get some canon information in the filler and in later part of the anime, fillers are only 3-4 episode long and are premises for the movies which helps you to decide where to watch the movies. I would recommend watching the filler not because it is good (some of it is tho) but because why wouldn’t you want more one piece
I just come from a 5-hour video of a dude lecturing his friends on the world and plot of One Piece... And damn, he didn't even go in-depth on a lot of things.
The world seems so natural, it's easy to overlook how staggering and complex this world is, even when you know and advocate for it. I hardly realized the video was actually that long...

I personally only watch dub when I randomly find animes on TH-cam. I enjoy them, but it's not like I care too much. Just some light entertainment. Could never watch dub on anything I am actually interested in and/or plan to watch.
But One Piece dub is so cartoony and over the top. It feels unnatural, and the Japanese voice actors are so so good! Luffy's voice actress knows what she is doing.
Started One Piece at 9; I'am 25 now, What a jounrey, it's special to follow a serie for so long ! And don't worry, Oda the author said that it will end in approximately 5/7 years, and let me tell you, the material is set up at the beginning so it's not added content just for the sake of continuing!
Edit: About the fillers, I personnaly don't watch them when I'am watching the serie for the first times, except the few ones that preview a movie to come, there are lists you can check to know which filler are interesting. Fun fact, of the big three One Piece has the least fillers, around 90 for 1000 episodes, which is not a lot compared to Bleach or Naruto !
