Each of those episodes are emotional high points in the first "saga" (East Blue) and are usually episodes that get the most views for One Piece reactors.

Yeah Luffy is unusually strong for a Shonen protagonist in episode 1. Compared to how much Naruto for example needs to improve in his first few adventures, Luffy starts out much stronger for his respective world. The challenges he encounters aren't generally challenging his strength at first but rather situations where he's at a disadvantage that he must find a way to overcome.
I recommend reacting to every episode, because One Piece will bring you a big load of views!
And the most recommended way to react is to do 3-5 episodes per video.

@@WuMyth Yes. It's good to start with 5. At least till Arlong park/Grand Line. When arcs get more serious and complex, 3 is perfect imo.

yeah i think 3-4 is the sweet spot for one piece, depending on how many episodes are left in an arc. can be weird to end an arc halfway through a video and start a new one

I totally understand preferring dubs. However, for One Piece, the English Dubs (even the more recent ones by Funimation) just don't do the series justice. I mostly blame it on poor casting. Not that the voice actors they chose are bad: most of them are phenomenal and incredibly talented. However, the choice of VA for each role just seems really off and not a good match for each character.
Maybe that's because I'm so used to the Japanese voice cast (when One Piece started, the 4Kids dub was the obviously WRONG choice) and anything that's sufficiently different from how they sound just hits me as wrong. However, that's how it hits for me and, apparently, for a LOT of other folks.
Maybe the English dub is actually good ... I'm not sure, I just couldn't get over hearing such different voices for these characters. However, if you're going to react to One Piece, it HAS to be sub, otherwise you WILL lose viewers who can't deal with how the English dub hits them the wrong way. It's that prevalent an issue.
I like dub
I love the dub cause I grew up with it. Didn't have any other voices to compare it to. I watch sub now since it's further but have no idea what I'd rewatch it in. Lol. I definitely get not being used those voices when you've watched it a different way though. I cannot watch Hunter X Hunter 2011 in dub cause I've watched the 1999 version first with different voice actors. It's interesting how differently people can see it. I might not stick around for a sub reaction because it's harder to pay attention to it. I want to experience at least some of the anime while I watch though im fine with missing some cause it's a reaction.

There are a few One Piece movies that are a condensed versions of a few arcs Adventures in Alabasta. Episode of Chopper Plus.
I will say I also personally prefer to watch in dubbed, mostly because I am dyslexic and reading subtitles is a struggle. I honestly think the One Piece English dub really is one of the better casts.

I watched in both dub and sub because I enjoyed it. Originally started in german dub(why i never knew of the 4kds english dub) then found the good english dub online and later had to switch to sub cause they at the time stopped doing english dubs. Also am a manga reader lmao
At one point when i had nothing to do i was watching like 10-20 episodes a day. Now I'm around 800 so i gotta catch up. But I'm up to date on the manga
My guy!! You in for a dope experience. Its an amazing journey and one of the best told stories. Things seem really simple in the beginning of the series but everything is much deeper than its being presented

Sub/dub complaining is for children, idiots, and idiot children.
The dub is great, and the English dub crew is putting a lot of hard work into it.
It is simply more comfortable and immersive to watch the action and hear the language I understand without having to read 1000+ episodes of a cartoon, and miss what is happening on screen.
This isn't the awful 4Kids dub, anymore. We have professional voice actors doing a great job on a top IP. Feel free to use it.

The first episode of one piece- i was like what goofy ass shit is this, but i really like the main character luffy.
Introduction to shanks- i was like hmm, i really like the backstory and this character shanks seems like a very well written dude.
Sanji backstory- i was like hmm, i kinda like this anime.
Nami backstory and walk to arlong park- FUCK!! THIS IS THE GREATEST ANIME IN HOSTORYYY!!!!!
There's question witch attack Luffy used for the first time. And some people said "Pistol" and the other said "Rocket".
And both answers is right because in manga Luffy used "gomu² no pistol" for the first named attack, and in the anime he used "Rocket".

Also, I'm glad you're watching the fansub from Kaizoku people, they're the most accurate when it comes to independent subs.

I totally agree when it comes to Sub vs Dub.
If there's a good Dub like Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, or Assassination Classroom then I definitely prefer that but sometimes it just doesn't work.
Unpopular opinion I guess, but you should've gone with dubbed. Everybody's at least decent, Chris Sabat is absolute perfection as Zoro, and Franky and Brook when they show up are way better in English than Japanese (especially Franky - his Japanese voice is nails on a chalkboard to my ears).

You will have fun trust me... I also thought one piece's 900+ episodes (at the time) was daunting. But after a few episodes I was hooked, after a few hundred episodes I kept thinking how many episodes I have left. I HAVE LEFT!!! Imagine how good a series is to think that you would be worried because you have hundreds of episodes left.

The problem with dub is the censorship, it's really bad in One Piece. The 4 Kids dub is one of the biggest jokes in anime.

Oh thank god you're doing sub. The English Dub is horrendous imo. That said, latest point to really get hooked is around episode 40.

Luffy in the sub at least sound like a man. His voice is more impactful when things get serious but I just can't take english dub Luffy serious. I'm guessing the people who hired the voice actress just didn't expect One Piece to turn into a *serious* serious story. There's nothing wrong with that, but it does lose impact if he's giving a war cry.

Luffy throughout this series has proven he has no issue hitting women. Equal rights, equal lefts, a true advocate of gender equality.
I watched One Piece dub for the first 215 eps and then switched to sub for the rest. I tried to get back into dub but the first ep I watched back into dub my only thought was "ew". Some of the voices for the later characters ain't very good dubbed.
The japanese VA's are superior by a lot glad you stuck with subtitles, welcome to the world of one piece.
I'll be sticking around. Gonna be a great journey.
