  • Review of a 200 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. This one has only 51k miles, is a 5 speed manual and has been kept unmolested and in stock form. I give a walk around tour of the exterior and interior, take you for a POV drive, and then give my thoughts on the vehicle.

    I know it's not a popular opinion...but i think i prefer the looks of the 3rd gen

Seeing one in this condition definitely makes you appreciate them. Many were modded heavily and beat.

Aesthetically, I prefer the 4G! But, THIS one is QUITE SEXY 😍😍!!

This was my first car. I purchased it used back in 2003. Unfortunately I wrecked my 2000 GT at the beginning of 2005. I enjoyed the car so much, I bought a 2003 GTS and kept it for almost ten years.
Thank you for the trip down memory lane!

My 1st car in the U.S was a GS.... About 20 years later I bought a Spyder GT. It still feels good to drive.

That V6 sounds good!,and that thing drives nice, anyway 205 horsepower's nothing to sneeze at,and that 5 speed manual adds to the fun factor.John M Guinto

Exactly. It is a car you can really enjoy. Some of these other cars which have a ton of power, sure they are fast, but in daily use, they can be boring because they have to be held back so much. Thanks for watching!

Just bought a 2001 Spyder GT I'm restoring. Glad you like them best of the gens, I don't get the naysayers. Seems perfect to me , well balanced and sharp.

Great video! I had that exact car (in gray) and kept it for about six years. I sold it and bought a restored VW bus that I kept for a lot of years.

I love my eclipse and I'm having a used motor installed. I've been putting off installing a another engine but I love driving the engine. It's a 2002 model and hopefully it will be ready next week.

    Wonderful review brother!
Just brought a 2003 GTS Spyder(Eclipse) last year, and I'm having fun driving it during the summer months with the top down as a daily driver.
I drive 140 miles a day to work and back, and the engine isn't too loud and has just the right purr to it, and it does push with the cars of today..even if mine only has 210hp.
Regardless...great car! Keep up the great work with your videos! And thank you for being so detailed in reviewing the Eclipse! I've never seen someone review as well as you..not unless it's an old review from the time the car came out(2000s).

Thank you for that feedback really appreciate it! I am working on trying to get some new reviews shot. Definitely agree on the sound of the car. And power is definitely usable making it good as a daily. How many miles on your Spyder?

I got 167k, hope it last till 300k, really good car, just kinda difficult to do somethings on the engine since it's a V6, as opposed to a 4 cylinder.

I had that exact same car, minus the premium package. I miss it so much. I keep telling myself that someday I'll pick one up again to restore.

Just picked up a 2000 gt after totaling my 04 gs (was my first car and loved her for 8 years). Unfortunately the 2000 gt is in the shop for issues I couldn't diagnose, but can't wait to get her back and restore her to lookin as nice as this one. Gotta ditch those seats in the back though, borderline dead weight lol

The induction sound on this vehicle paired with the 5 speed manual really make for a fun daily car.

I've worked on these cars for over 20 years and (and have owned the 2g, 3g, 4g and various other Mitsubishi 8 in total) you have no idea what you're talking about sorry. First, you keep talking about how much heavier the 3g over the 2g. Look at both top trims: 2g GSX 3,210 lb, 3g GTS 3,053 lb the 3g is almost 150lbs lighter. Secondly you say the 2g is stiffer, but the 3g chassis is actually stiffer vs the 2g by 10%. The 3g is the most underrated of all the Eclipse, around the same power as a 2g GSX, is lighter, has a stiffer chassis. The only thing it looses is awd and the more robust mod community, though you can still modify the 3g so I don't consider that an argument. Of every generation I found the 3rd to be the best, the 4th gen second, and the 2g third.
