Thanks for this review, LH. I just got the 4 camera set from Amazon and they're working great... Turned off the IR lights and lit up out side the window with motion lights for outside viewing. Used a "L" bracket upside down and it's screw in base to attach it to the side of the window sill while keeping the camera upright... Works Great... Thanks again
The first video that came up when I was looking into one of these cams. It is the only video I needed - it contained answers to every question I had, even showing the power connector so I know that is a mini plug. Inclusion of actual footage including audio is so often missed when people do demos so that was brilliant too. Thanks, I appreciate the effort you put in to make this.
Thank you for being extremely helpful. My friend and I would never have set up her camera if it wasn’t for your video so thank you so much we are now subscribers
I have owned two of these cameras for a couple of months now and find them to be very good with one exception; there is no one button motion detection disable in the app. This is an important feature if you are going to use these as security cameras. Ideally a person would like to turn the motion detection feature off when home and on when away. Without this, if bound to the cloud service, the camera will record every motion detection it sees creating a mass of videos in the cloud. If an SD card is installed and recording enabled, it too will be filled with every motion detection occurrence. I contacted Reolink about this as they had a statement on their support page stating “In the near future, we will add a button to enable or disable motion detection directly”. Their response was “I double confirmed with the R&D people and they replied that this feature may not be completed recently. It's complicated and they need time to evaluate and analyze.” Since then, they have removed this statement from their support web page and I don’t expect them to fix this issue anytime soon. These are great cameras if all you want to do is monitor something real time but they are poor security cameras do to the lack of easily controlling motion detection.
Thank you, LifeHackster, for another brilliant review. The camera seems excellent. The microphone sound is too quiet for my liking. Which is surprising as I've got two Reolink Go cameras and the sound is perfect for me. I must agree with "my 2bar" about the lack of cloud service in the UK. I have been waiting for it, but nothing has come across yet. That is sadly a real let down. I like reolink products, but they need to the cloud service in the UK going soon.
Steve S I am from the UK if you have a iPhone change the region to US then you can get the cloud service like I did I just pay £3.00 month for 5 cameras my cameras are Reolink Argus 2 I been using the cloud service for 5 months now then you can get them to work with google Home hud
@@giovanniturco6428 Thanks Giovanni, that certainly is a workaround and helpful. But it doesn't change the fact that Reolink is neglecting us a bit. :)
Is it able to do Continuous Recording? I’m not always trusting of the motion detection recording and I always wish to be able to review video footage, even if audio is all I need to determine if something happened out of the cameras field of view.
I have set up the camera but when I open the app on another wifi location when I’m out, do I have to reset wifi connection for the app? I’m worried this will disconnect the camera from the other wifi when left on also. Thank you
Thanks for the review video. I wish I’d watched before buying this. I only paid $30 USD on eBay, refurbished, from Reolink’s store, so not a huge loss. But I’m so disappointed that their description says it has motion tracking (like the Yi IoT and Wyze cameras I’ve had for 3+ years), but it actually doesn’t. It’s really not much better than a fixed non-PTZ camera. I also didn’t know until you said it that this doesn’t have PIR, unlike the two Reolink Argus cameras I already have. It’s video quality is good but somehow the Wyze v3 beats it. I’m actually thinking now of returning it, assuming I can do so. I was really hoping I would like this camera because it doesn’t require a subscription for event clips, and I already have the app.
Great video, and review...i just ordered one of 5mp from Aliexpress...soon as i receive it i let you now how it works...hello, by the way, i am Maryo from Bucharest, Romania, i always watch your videos, great job helping and advice us, here :) .
Are the night vision lights visible to the naked eye ?? If not what camera would you recommend that has hidden LEDs ir for night vision..pls help thank you
Yes they are visible..WiFi cameras that I have tested that have the 850 NM Infrared which is invisible to the naked eye is the wyze cam pan and the yi dome 1080p cameras.
I don't have those options as well. I don't currently have a microsd installed yet either so I'm guessing that's why but I will test it tomorrow when I get the cards in.
hi, nice video, but I ned Help please, REOLINK E1 ZOOM OR WYZE CAM PAN ? Need a good quality image, use to monitor my printer and soon baby ;) Will save some high resolution of video too from time to time of my prints. Which one do you recommend for long term? Thanks
Can this IP camera be hooked or linked to more than one smartphone at the same time? Say the camera is placed inside my elderly mom's home and I when away can use the two-way talk feature to visit with my mom when I am in the next state. Then can my brother (at some third location) also use this same camera via his own smartphone when he wants to talk to mom (or even to view her in real-time)?
Hi LifeHackster, Do you think this would work well as a baby monitor? Are the IR lights visible? Also can you record 24/7 to the SD card or is it only when movement is detected? Thanks for your advice.
It can be but the IR lights are pretty visible..I would recommend Wyze or Yi cameras as baby monitors because it has almost invisible IR LEDs and the Yi also has baby crying alerts feature.
This camera in your review seems better than the ecobee SmartCamera - Indoor WiFi Security Camera, Smart Home Security System, 1080p HD 180 Degree FOV, Night Vision, 2-Way Audio, Works with Apple HomeKit, Alexa Built In. Agree? Disagree?
Hello. So I’m a new how owner and I’ve always wanted to have cameras that I can access inside and out of my house at any point of the day to 1. Make sure my kids have gotten home ok and 2. Make sure my dog is ok as well. What do you recommend for cameras that have great push notifications but is wired and not gonna crucify my bandwidth. Thanks a long time follower but first time commenting!
11 11 thanks for the help. There’s sooo much I’m looking for in my security cameras! And I think I might have to go commercial to get what I’m looking for. I don’t want to because of the price. I do like the nest camera features but the cloud ☁️ service is over priced. I’m going to do my home work on the Waze cameras they seem to get good reviews.
For wired indoors...Wyze or Yi or this Reolink camera... for outdoors, I would go with Ring Floodlight or Spotlight wired... Now, as I said in the video, I don't use push notifications on my indoor cameras unless I know nobody is there... I do however need instant and accurate motion notifications on my outdoor cameras..and Ring fits the bill and they are the most accurate in motion detection and almost instant in notifications...and they only use your internet bandwidth when they sense and record motion or when you are watching live view...
Mate good to see you again bought cam as per your review and you have never failed me. Mate how does it compare to C2 Pro response time after initial triggered cool time. Thanks.
Hi sir, do you know if after setting up and uf just said if you are out for few days and have off your internet and if just said there is a power outage and when the power is back will it start recording or not. Tq.
I was looking again at all you Reolink camera reviews because they are now being sold in Australia. You said you would not use motion tracking as it would draw attention to it due to the motor noise. Now, would you also not use the siren and custom alarm sound? As this would also (massively) draw attention.
Is there a source for a replacement ceiling mount for the Reolink E1 cameras? I have not broken mine but the little plastic "wings" seem very thin and fragile.
any idea if you can share this with a single person outside of your house without having to share all of your cameras? Example use to have conversation with someone in another state or different house?
Bought this having a reolink NVR outdoor system. Tried every way to have it connect to my wifi and it wont connect as my NVR is hard linked in. Many complaints on amazon about this. Going to try a wyze or Yi maybe.
Great, informative video. Could you review Neos SmartCam, please? We in the UK do not seem to have Wyze Cam like you in the US, but Neos looks like Wyze Cam to me and cost almost the same. Please investigate for us.

They say you can hook it up to the NVR do you know how to do that? I have a reolink NVR and I want this camera because they say you can connect it to the NVR for 24/7 recording
I literally just got a wyze today. Looking for RTSP only. Throw it into vlc, watch from my phone or a tablet. Looking for a baby cam, all the traditional cams aren't great. Would you recommend this from reolink or another one camera that reolink has.
For a baby cam, I would go with the Wyze Cam or the Wyze Pan.. They have IR LEDs that are almost not visible to the naked eye. The Yi dome also has the same feature and also has a baby crying notification too.
I bought one of these per your recommendation. So far it had a bit of problems getting it installed and now it keeps dropping connection and unless you unplug and replug to get it "reset". And then it drops connection within minutes. Working with support, so I trust they will replace or figure out the problems.
I had this problem with a couple reolink outdoor cameras that were hard wired and i updated the firware and it worked fine. If you haven't tried that you might want to give it a try.

today is 04/12/2022 and i just got my Reolink E1 Pro. Installed the app on my iphone. I'm looking for a indoor camera that's 3 megapixels or above with the option to turn off the infrared lights any suggestions would be helpful I'm in the UK one that will not break down after 6 months
I had a question in regards to the lapse during viewing on mobile phone. Also the lapse of real-time when viewing on Google Nest Hub? Thanks always for your reviews!
I want to record the area by my front door. I want to put my camera behind the window facing the front door to see who is coming or going at the front door. Would this camera be able to record through the window or would the glass (dual pane) window prevent the camera from sending infrared signal though it to detect motion to start recording.
Nat Shain you might have a glare issue. It is an indoor came. Although I do see a problem if it’s under a carport or soffit eve that is not exposed to water.
I put my camera in font of my dual pane window to see who is walking to the front door. The video was very sharp. For the night, I had to turn off the infra red lights to get a better video..
The only problem I having is that I can only access once a day.... Support told me to enable all my UDP ports in my router, Which I've tried to find and do, to no avail... I have Xfinity and have had a neighbor go over on my computer to do it and we can't find the ports in the routers gateway???? Any suggestions? I'm now out of state and have to have someone else do it for me which makes it very difficult.... And I didn't put it on my computer, just thought to use my phone....Support said the cameras use random UDP ports???? If my neighbor unplugs them and replugs them in I can get in.... This is very frustrating, especially when you have your landlord going in and turning your cameras around when they are there for repairs and then turning them back around when they leave, crazy people... They don't know I can hear them...
I was oh so close to buying one until I read that recording to the SD card is ONLY for event recording. You need an NVR to record 24/7. Wyze can record 24/7 to an SD card. Why is this so?
The recordings when downloaded will always be full resolution..it might be how you are viewing it in the app..change the viewing resolution (rectangular icon) to 4MP.
Anyone know why my E1-pros ( i have several) just go off line every few months but the bigger outside bullet cams dont ? All my E1 cams go out and i gotta re install them.

They don't know I can hear them...
Pls advise, Reolink E1 Pro or Reolink C1 Pro? Thanks
I wished C1 to, but they stoped sell this product :( .
I was oh so close to buying one until I read that recording to the SD card is ONLY for event recording. You need an NVR to record 24/7. Wyze can record 24/7 to an SD card. Why is this so?
There’s no point in recording video when there’s no motion/event to see.
So what happens if you buy this and you don't have a smart phone? Does the camera need the QR code to work?
It needs a smart phone or tablet to setup and also to view the camera and the footage.
Can this model be used outdoor?
Is there a cat5 hookup on the cam for the nvr?
Alexa = ❌
Alex A = ✅
:)
LifeHackster love you man, i really enjoy your videos

@@LifeHackster thank you
When viewing live I get curves in the video images. Faces look very curved and chubby, is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks.
How is your video quality so good mines look so crappy
The recordings when downloaded will always be full resolution..it might be how you are viewing it in the app..change the viewing resolution (rectangular icon) to 4MP.
Anyone know why my E1-pros ( i have several) just go off line every few months but the bigger outside bullet cams dont ? All my E1 cams go out and i gotta re install them.
Can you do a review of the Reolink E1 Zoom?
Thanks
