I'm testing the TrackMix currently, you should have tested it in your front yard with the street. It gets distracted constantly by my neighbors vehicle parked in the same spot for 24hr. It will over rotate and stare at the wall, it flips to IR mode, you have to have a monitor point set and auto return set to keep it from wondering. Sometimes it will over rotate and see a reflection in my bay window, and try to track motion in the window. I doubt it's capturing better footage of a moving object while it's moving, than a fixed camera covering that area. I have more work to do with Synology for Surveillance Station to record both feeds. The AI needs to learn to ignore parked cars that haven't moved. It needs a setting to limit how far it pans to prevent it from over rotation, and staring at the wall behind. I still think having 2x overlapping cameras covering an area is better than a PTZ camera. I would only add this for the deterrent factor, but not every opportunistic criminal will see this, if they already missed my warning sign and 8 other security cameras. TrackMix is a good concept, it needs some updates to make it practical.
There's a firmware update that allows you to set tracking limits. Also mask your neighbors house and driveway in the Detection zone setting. Change tracking to person only
Turn off vehicle detection completely by setting the slider for vehicle detection all the way down to zero (this will stop the camera from recognizing vehicles at all and reduce processing resources), and set tracking type to just Person and pets or which ever one you prefer.. My trackmix (wireless) is in a parking lot with vehicles passing by semi frequently, it does start recording when a vehicle triggers motion but it will not track the vehicle and it doesnt recognize vehicles. I discovered that even if vehicle tracking is off it will still frame multiple vehicles in its veiw (they get framed with a blue box, there's a setting for this, it frames whatever it recognizes if you're in clear mode) which is an unnecessary use of processing power since I dont care about vehicle tracking
I have been looking for a ptz camera and this one checks all the boxes. I love that pan and tilt are very quiet. I am definitely getting the poe version and hooking it up to my poe switch thus eliminating the power cord all together. The poe seems a bit faster too in tracking and alerting. I love your dog Hugo. ❤❤
Seems to be the best of both worlds for having both static and PTZ video footage. If only they fix the tracking detection and some ghosting issues at night in a future version. Overall, I would prefer this over the RLC-823A. I might get away with placing this at my front yard without the neighbors complaining, provided I don't have its white LEDs on following them lol. Would love to see a comparison between the two including the motor noise. Thanks and great work as always sir.

Reolink hasn't really released a low light sensor or starlight sensor cameras yet. I wish they do. As to ONVIF, Reolink has told me because this camera uses 2 streams, it has some issues and currently not recommended to be used with 3rd party software.
@@LifeHackster Thanks for the info regarding ONVIF. I bought the Reolink 32 channel NVR when it was released because Reolink said it supported ONVIF. And the ghosting is still better than my 823A was at 12FPS. I bugged the heck out of Reolink to enable 25FPS on the 823A and they finally did it, maybe they will find a way to do it with the Trackmix. I still won't buy it if it won't support ONVIF though.
I have learned a lot from your many videos - thank you so much! I ended up going with the Eufy spotlight cams + a couple of the eufy solar cams and am very satisfied with them so far. This Reolink looks very tempting, but mixing brands is a bit of a hassle. I do have a question for you, last year I had a porch pirate steal a package. I got a decent photo of the person, but the police basically said no license number, no investigation. I have tried a Eufy cam mounted under my mailbox and I get pretty good video, but with any motion, the plate number is blurred just enough to be unreadable... any suggestions for something that can get a license number off a car moving 5-15 miles an hour?
I just read about License Plate Reader cameras, that can track moving vehicles and they detect the license plate clearly, go to CCTV Camera Pros and read all about the different types of cameras. I am going for a camera that can read up to 45mph, and can also read at night…lots of education on this site…btw, I am a consumer, not a reviewer, and no links to the website….good luck
Don't expect quality from Eufy cameras. They are the best for notifications & speed but their fatal flaw is their quality due to the low bitrate. Reolink smashes them out of the water for image quality because they allow a much higher bitrate that can actually read number plates and make out people's faces (4K cameras).
Great reviews thanks. I just changed my old rlc-410s for an Rlc-511a and a 510a. Has almost totally fixed the issue of being bombarded with false alerts, but I think I’ll still need a separate IR light to stop the spiders (there are times when I can’t get to house to clean lenses). Was interested in this trackmix to replace the 510a at the back as I cant cover it properly with just one cam otherwise. No patrol mode however so may still be no use tome. Need to look again at the field of view specs you give to work out what it will see. Thanks again!
thanks for the review. it seems a decent camera. one thing i do not like is that all these cameras have bulky connectors. i do not want the wires to be visible. for a security cam that is a nogo. you have to drill huge holes if you want to have the wires through the wall. i would prefer small connectors that can be connected inside the camera. or that the bulky connectors can be placed in the holder/housing. I did not see any info about rtsp streams but i will watch again in case i missed it.
I have both Reolink and Eufy Wi-Fi cameras and want to at 2 auto tracking Cameras to my setup. My dilemma is do I go with the Reolink TrackMix or the new Eufy S340. Anyone tried both and have advice?
Honestly, companies should really pay more attention to the framerates. 25/12fps really is a shame. I'd much rather have a stable 60fps recording in 2K and 30fps with the night vision. It is important, no matter how good the camera is...
I just saw this on their site. I heard that a battery version is coming out…hope it is true. Anyhow, great review as always. One question….can you adjust the light brightness? Thanks!
You told that the camera has two antennas because it has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WLAN. That is not the reason for two antennas. It is because of DIVERSITY which makes reception better. I have several Reolink cameras and am very happy with them. Especially my new 4K 180° Duo Camera is very versatile and looks just great.
I am thinking about getting a security camera for my home. Was wondering if I should choose this over a doorbell camera or not. The Reolink doorbell camera can be easily get stolen.
I'm really curious how well the battery version is going to work when it drops. But the cable powered versions so far seem well done. That zoom seems to work quite well.
I know you've had much more time with the Eufy but based on your overall experience thus far/all things considered, which would be your pick - this or the Floodlight Cam 2 Pro?
@@PositiveRoute Yes.. it is a bit different and you actually "paint" out areas you don't want to be notified about just like in the Duo 2 in this video -> th-cam.com/video/XCpEdeniOBg/w-d-xo.html
I see that the horizontal field of view is less than 180 degrees. Does it have auto pan and ,if so, would you trust it to be the only camera to secure a single side of a house? I would think someone could run under neath it while it’s turned away from them.
I don't trust any auto tracking cameras if you know that the motion can start in an area that it doesn't see when it is in its home or guard position. Look at their Duo 3 16 MP if that is your case.
Updating my comment: Reolink has an update to allow 2 view with the NVR, it will display the cameras side by side in the playback, but still does not show both under the NVR in the application and does not allow zoom control from the NVR/APP you would still need to set it up as a standalone camera (while also having the IP put in your NVR) to do that. And the new software freezes cameras multiveiw for some reason, I reverted back to the old firmware because it was so annoying….
@@LifeHackster I thought so as well, But i had messaged reolink and they said that no software update will fix this, they said I needed to get a new hardware NVR (that isn’t available yet) or the 36ch
@@Aaronproductions now, I have to test this with the NVR …they did tell me that supposedly, it will only use 1 channel on the NVR but the video saved on the hard drive would be 2…I’m thinking the zoomed in is a PIP or vice versa…

Hi, love your comparisons and testing. First-time surveillance system buyer. Need a system for a residential construction project and then will move the system to our home or other location. Am going poe, but would like the flexibility of wifi for one or more cameras. Question: Are there any negatives of the wifi version compared to the poe version? They are basically the same price, and if you can still run the wifi one on poe, is there any tradeoff? Thanks so much!
Hi. Thanks for the vid. Between Trackmix and Duo 2, which one in your opinion has a better night vision? By better I mean, sees further at night (not necessarily clearer). Trackmix has 6x hybrid zoom. It means it is both optical and digital? And I found Duo has 16x zoom (I guess digital only). Is this correct? Cause this info is not listed on the official Reolink website (at least I could not find such info there).
This or Wyze Cam Pan v3? I understand the Wyze is WIFI and has a subscription. Which one would be a better camera overall. Also I live in Canada were temperatures can get to -40F will these cameras freeze up and not operate in these conditions? Thanks
Thanks for the very good test. But a question: so it isn't possible to rec in 4k with the tele lens, without using the wide lens, in manual mode for example? This for I would use it to filming wildlife... (this just if the 4G version, that I would purchase, has the same characteristics of the wifi-poe version). Thanks
@LifeHackster Great review as always. I literally just purchased the RLC-523WA during Prime day waiting for this camera. In your opinion, do you think the Trackmix is better? Would you be able to do a review between this, the RLC-523WA & the 823a?
Seems like a good camera for the price, but the picture quality is a bit on the low side - have you done any reviews on a little higher quality PTZ dual lens security camera in the $500 range?
Great review. I want one for my main entrance to the farm. Is it possible to set a maximum tilt within a certain pan area? I'm asking because i want full freedom when looking into the property, but limited when looking at the driveway due to legal concerns when having a camera that sees farther than my property. I am reacquainting myself with Home Assistant so I think it's possible to do some magic there otherwise.

From the Reolink website about this camera (beware NVR users!): NVR: Only occupy one channel and show dual-view or separated view(Need to update the NVR firmware to show two views. Available soon.) Dual-view in full-screen view: one view in a way of Picture in Picture. (Update: only the NVR with N7MB01 and N6MB01 can view in PIP.
This is everything the Reolink Duo Should have been
There Duo is also having an upgrade... I think they will be in 4K now too...
Yea I need that!
Honestly, companies should really pay more attention to the framerates. 25/12fps really is a shame. I'd much rather have a stable 60fps recording in 2K and 30fps with the night vision. It is important, no matter how good the camera is...
Thanks. Great review. I think I’ll replace one of mine.
Are you going to be getting in a Reolink PoE video Doorbell to review? I am looking forward to seeing how that one performs.
Yes, I'll be testing it out when it comes out.
I just saw this on their site. I heard that a battery version is coming out…hope it is true. Anyhow, great review as always. One question….can you adjust the light brightness? Thanks!
Yes, you can adjust the light brightness in the app. Thanks.
Looking forward to seeing the solar panel version. Tracking is a great option.
I have to check it out when it comes out.
I am just wondering how long these cheaper PTZ cameras will last. Might be worth buying one of the tier one cameras in PTZ if you need one up high.
Hi there. Can you watch saved footage from let say last night using app? Or does it need to be hooked up to nvr? Thank you. Very informative video.
Ps I absolutely love your dog ❤️
Thank you! He is always wanting to be in the shot. :)
Nope..that is not what I said... 2 MIMO antennas.
Think they will do a battery version?
@@Ajacka916 it's on the site as coming soon , so yes.
Solar panel most likely
@@PatrickC139 can you tell me where searching not seeing it
@@PatrickC139 found it
I know you've had much more time with the Eufy but based on your overall experience thus far/all things considered, which would be your pick - this or the Floodlight Cam 2 Pro?
Great review, I have been looking for a high value PTZ to mount on my garage corner to watch my driveway and side yard. Thanks!
Hi ,
I'm one of your followers, i have one question that i like to ask you , is there a motion zone detection in this camera?
Yes, it does.
Thanks a lot , i have another question please , can i choose my own motion zone detection like in eufy camera?
@@PositiveRoute Yes.. it is a bit different and you actually "paint" out areas you don't want to be notified about just like in the Duo 2 in this video -> th-cam.com/video/XCpEdeniOBg/w-d-xo.html
Thanks a lot , you are the best
I will eventually add this to my NVR...which I have a feeling that the NVR also needs to be updated to make this to work.
@@LifeHackster I thought this as well, I thought that maybe the secondary zoom camera would be the sub stream for the device and that the eight megapixel camera would be the main stream. but I have not seen the zoom camera anywhere, if you figure it out please update me… but I am still also upset at the fact you can’t use the optical zoom function from the NVR, perhaps they should make a feature that you can switch to recording and viewing the zoom camera if they can’t send both streams
@@LifeHackster I have got the NVR update and have edited my comment.
Great video, can you get this to scan the area with the pan function so it covers a wider area, or is it just when it's tracking?
Interesting video… I would want to know if I can use a POE splitter to convert from the power cable to a POE feature in the Wi-Fi Reolink trackmix
Yes, you can.
I have 2 RLC-823A how do these compare? Which one would you prefer?
I'll be comparing both in my future videos. Thanks.
Duo is all digital. The trackmix mixes the narrow and wide lenses. As to night vision, both have pretty decent IR night vision.
This or Wyze Cam Pan v3? I understand the Wyze is WIFI and has a subscription. Which one would be a better camera overall. Also I live in Canada were temperatures can get to -40F will these cameras freeze up and not operate in these conditions? Thanks
Is the night vision on par with the CX410. If you have external lights, aka street, that camera works amazing well.
Nope. This one has a regular sensor.
I'm not sure yet which is better but I'll do a comparison most likely with the 823A in my future videos. Thanks.
@@LifeHackster awesome! Thanks! And I love your channel!
Seems like a good camera for the price, but the picture quality is a bit on the low side - have you done any reviews on a little higher quality PTZ dual lens security camera in the $500 range?
nice video! very informative. I was curious for the night video with spotlight off, can you increase the fps?
Great review. I want one for my main entrance to the farm. Is it possible to set a maximum tilt within a certain pan area? I'm asking because i want full freedom when looking into the property, but limited when looking at the driveway due to legal concerns when having a camera that sees farther than my property.
I am reacquainting myself with Home Assistant so I think it's possible to do some magic there otherwise.
Hello,
What is the difference between:
Reolink TrackMix PoE 1 and The RLC 823A. I noticed the mount, size, and the price is different. Please tell me if there are any other differences. I want to purchase one ASAP.
Thank you
Hi
How does trackmix compare to other ptz reolink does 823A?
Thanks
From the Reolink website about this camera (beware NVR users!):
NVR: Only occupy one channel and show dual-view or separated view(Need to update the NVR firmware to show two views. Available soon.)
Dual-view in full-screen view: one view in a way of Picture in Picture.
(Update: only the NVR with N7MB01 and N6MB01 can view in PIP. But we will try to make the AI NVR with H3MB18, N3MB01, and N2MB02 work in PIP. If so, we will update the firmware.)
Which would you choose this Trackmix or the RLC-823a?
Thanks
You are welcome.
Hello, I really enjoy watching your videos because you explain things very well. I bought several cameras from Reolink and after this video also the track mix. Now I have questions about the 823 and the track mix that Reolink didn't answer: what are your autotracking settings and how does it work with the dual lens? I have a system with Reolink NVR and all cameras are PoE. Can you help me? Thanks in advance and greetings
I have mine on my back porch. It is on my WIFI system which may not get the best coverage. I do have an ethernet cable from my router plugged into a network switch there. My camera is powered by 110vac on my back porch.
Can I also plug the camera's ethernet into my switch on my back porch to ensure a good connection?
Will this camera work with my cellphone soley or do I need a P V R ??
Yes. It doesn’t need the NVR.
If the smooth the tracking movement out, this would be perfect. But I’m still impressed.
Nice daytime hat
great video
Would like to see if car plate number at night time can easily be read. And which reolink is the best with panning tilt. Planning to put at our driveway. Thanks.
is this camera has colour night vision like CX-410? If not what is the next colour night vision trackmix do you recommend
Greetings, it is possible to measure the electrical consumption of this camera. I plan to buy two
So is this camera plugged into an outlet? How do you go about hiding the wire that leads to the outlet?
Nice video, thanks. How do you compare reolink 4K trackmix ($159.99) with the 5MP rlc-523wa ($220.99) ?
Pretty good quality in the day time. Now we need eufy cameras to step up to 4k.
I purchased a trackmix, it was not working with the NVR, so I upgraded the Nvr,got it work. There was no added features for the trackmix such, AI tracking ,so I try upgrading the camera and it stop working. Can the original software be installed again.
What are your thoughts on this compared to the ptz rlc-823a? Which one do you like better?
Hello.. For the PoE version, can i use non Reolink Nvr? If it can What brand you suggest?
Yes..use a Reolink NVR brand.
Which System do you currently use? I'm struggling to decide between Reolink, Amcrest and Hikvision? My budget is $600
I use Reolink and this is to get the most bang for your buck.
@@LifeHackster Thanks for taking the time to respond. Awesome content brother
Hi i do have a question i have the Reolink TrackMix wifi how do you delete videos off the SD card in camera?
Thank you very much for this review. I purchased this camera and all works well except for one feature the tap to talk feature all I get is a little static from the camera speaker.
I'm using a Galaxy s22 Ultra and make sure that my microphone access was allowed in the reolink app. I have a friend who has two other reolink cameras and the same Galaxy s22 Android cell phone I have. He never tried tap to talk, but just now we realize it's doing the same thing.
These are all Wi-Fi connected cameras . I've done everything I could find online to solve this but nothing works. Any thoughts? Thank you
What’s this like compared to the E1 Outdoor? I’m not sure whether to get the TrackMix, E1 Outdoor or wait for the E1 Outdoor 4k. Any recommendations?
Hi, by inserting a 256GB micro SD, approximately how many days can I record in standard quality?
