in made plenty of this style of knifes im a white tail deer hunter I usually but a knife and take the blade from it in the past goin to start again now thanks for the inspiration
Being half native blood myself I think you did a pretty good job. As an aside rawhide scabbards were also a really common & they act kind of like kydex once fully dried.
I have a very old glasses case made out of some kind of natural material, reminds me of leather, but it feels and is as hard as my kydex esee 5 sheath. Is this raw hide? If it is, I have an idea to make a sheath out of that glasses case material.
Thanks, sorry, no I no longer sell knives and sheaths. I have some knives I made that were flawed in 1 way or another and gradually working on those to make videos on. Thanks for watching!
In your research of the knives around the world, we're there cultures that would have spiritual rituals used in the process of creating or putting them into service?
Great question, yes, but only one I remember off hand….a Kukri knife. One must draw blood with it, ie: cut your finger, after making it and sheathing it for the first time. Jewish knives used for slaughter have a special process of making. Let me know of any others, interesting stuff!
