    The black nitrile gloves are often a bit thicker. They're used by piercers and tattoo artists, as well as, for example, me, when in the shop. In fact, it's entirely possible that I may have been the one who those gloves are attributed to. If so, they were for covering my hands while reaching into shop machinery, which is of course full of grease and oil, and often needs some nasty chemicals to clean up.

  • @linamishima

    Nitrile gloves are a very common safer sex item for LGBT folks, not that different to condoms really, and often made available along side condoms. Gloves are more handy (pun intended) if you're using a body part not suited to condoms, and barrier methods are essential to prevent spread of STIs. Nitrile is commonly used due to risk of latex allergies. Bit unusual to specifically go for black ones, mind.

    • @mattandtom

      I seek out the black nitrile gloves because they're usually thicker (often used in tattooing and the like). Obviously this has nothing to do with the color, that's just the color they're often produced in. I, too, use them for everything from working on cars to dusty filthy computers to doing basic piercings for friends.

    • @KenjiWardenclyffe
      @KenjiWardenclyffe 8 ปีที่แล้ว +67

      +Matt and Tom i buy Nitrile gloves all the time for cleaning as theyre much more resistant to tearing and often in a pack of latex gloves there are a few already broken. When i did lab work for uni they had them for when we did experiments, and hospitals and doctors offices are moving towards them as well.
      latex gloves when punctured just have a tiny hole, nitrile just falls apart if i recall correctly, so theyre alot safer in medical use.
      mind you, i get blue ones.

      I use nitrile gloves for bicycle maintenance (so-called "purple inspection gloves" for preference) - when a bicycle is your primary source of local transport, a pair of disposable gloves in your saddle bag keeps your hands clean if you are required to do any mid-journey "repairs" (puncture repairs, jumped chain, et. al.).

    The nitrile gloves could be for a hobby, like miniature painting. Panting a miniature isn't dangerous but if you're painting whole armies of them for a wargame or something you will get a lot of paint on your hands over time (especially with an airbrush), so it's better to wear gloves so none of it is absorbed.

    Oh man, don't even start with the Krishnas, they have some genius tactics!
    I feel like every single one of them you see on the streets has read every book on salesmanship and practiced all of the routines for years, I was amazed at the perfect routine I encountered on my university campus one time!
    Basically, they checked every box, like not seeming like they were selling anything, putting the product in your hands, talking for you, and if you didn't give a small donation (for which they were even prepared with a card reader!), they just took the books back before you were even done saying "no" and shoved a pamphlet in your hand so fast you didn't have time to blink in confusion!

    A billion years later, I know, but for the gloves: any chemistry/environmental sampling work requires nitrile gloves so you don't burn your fingers off with acid or get pesticide poisoning :P (or, more importantly, contaminate your sample!) Black shows tears easier and is sometimes cheaper than blue for some reason; depends on the supply at the moment.

    I use nitrile gloves all the time when molding and casting silicones and urethanes as they don't react like latex would. I tried vinyl for a bit, but they don't form-fit as well, so quickly I upgraded.

    I was actually doing some DIY and wearing black nitril gloves while listening to this video. In case anyone else suffers from allergies to common rubber gloves like me, try nitril ones. They are powder free and more comfortable to wear. A bit thin, still make your hands sweat and may rip when handling some solvents but no itchiness, pain or redness after wearing them. Great for housework and crafts as well. I highly recommend them!

      I don't use nitrile gloves for any of the above (though I do use them for bicycle maintenance and roadside repair if I get a puncture), but I could see them being used if you do a lot of frying and want a little protection from hot oil spatter.

    • @KaitharVideo
      @KaitharVideo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      *nod* nitrile has less allergy and interaction problems (thus good for sex vs latex gloves), is a lot more comfortable for long use (good for cleaning and hobby use), and iirc they break/puncture in a slightly better way.
      They also come in better colours... I personally detest the clear/natural latex material, it looks dirty before you touch anything.

    • @Rolan7196
      @Rolan7196 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some disposable gloves would have saved me a lot of grief bicycle-repair-wise! At the shop I had to use one of those gritty soaps (with pumice?) to cut it.
      As for cooking, I... really don't like oil spatters. I've wrapped a worn shirt around my hands and worn long sleeves, just recently (in the summer). I guess gloves would be better than wrapped cloth!
