    A couple more things to add: 1. When installing the thermostat, make sure the air purge hole is in the 12 o'clock position to allow air to escape. 2. Park uphill which helps air pockets escape better as well.

    Pretty sure my thermostat took a dump on me today. Gauge temp never got close to warm even though I drove extra miles on the way home so I know it was warm. Got an 08 with the 3.9 but the motors are so identical, this video is just what I needed to get the thing changed. Parts are ordered and will be dealt with soon.

    You are missing a detail.... You didn't show us a close up of the thermostat housing and how you positioned the thermostat in it plus whether or not you need an additional gasket for the housing besides the one that is on the thermostat.
    I think these are very important details for someone who may not have done this before.

    While this is a good video it is much easier to get to the stat housing if you remove the battery and its tray then you can get right to the thermostat housing from the side without fighting and scraping your arms on the fan housing from the front. Sure it takes an extra 5 minutes but its well worth the time and it saves alot of aggravation reinstalling the stat and housing bolts.

    2010 chevy impala.LT3.5 liter..Thermostat is on the Lower Hose of the radiator?

  • @MRose39
    @MRose39 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Would this fix engine hit ac off? My 2008 Chevy impala is pulling that up on the dash. The temp gauge stays at cold and doesn’t move fans run high, no leaks and it’s not over heating. I been told it could be the Thermostat or the temp sensor but I wasn’t sure which one it would be any ideas which one it could be?

    • @LemurMonitors
      @LemurMonitors  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      If the coolant level is good and there's no air the thermostat could be the culprit - one thing you can do to verify this is remove it from the housing and throw it in a pot of boiling water to see if it opens at the right temperature. (maybe don't use your nice cookware though)

    • @BEppenger
      @BEppenger 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would this be the same for a SS impala? My car won’t heat up at all and blows out just cold air. I’m nervous because it only happened one time when it was cold. Also when I’m driving my car only the side windows fog up at night. Is there any explanation why?

      JC442 Mines ended up being the water pump and serpentine belt so when I got that replaced everything started working normally. Now I just have to replace the actuator since it’s stuck on recirculate. I would just take it to a mechanic and let them try it out but if you fixed everything else maybe it is the water pump

    My 2006 Chevy Impala is currently having the following issues:
    1) Engine hot/turn off AC light comes on after car has only been on 15-20 minutes (and it's winter). Car then stalls. Letting car sit idle for a few moments allows the light to go off and temp gauge re-balances between Hot and Cold.
    2) Heat only sometimes (mostly not)
    3) Loud knocking behind dashboard when turn from Heat to AC.
    Will replacing the thermostat fix problems 1 & 2?

    • @aprillovesdani
      @aprillovesdani 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Replacing thermostat will fix problem 1 and 2
      Problem 3 is solved by replacing your bend boot actuator

    • @chrisyeary9874
      @chrisyeary9874 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The knocking noise comginf from behind the dash where the glove compartment is at is the blend door actuator. Removal of dash is required for this repair. As for the engine hot ac off replace the termostat leave battery unhooked for twenty minutes after replacing thermostat.

    • @homegoogle3553
