  • My name is Xanthe.
I completed over 5 years of therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder, PTSD, this month.
Accident Compensation Corporation, ACC, paid for my therapy, as it's considered to be an injury.
Most people with a similar presentation take 12-18 months. I needed a slower approach, with the complexity of comorbid bipolar disorder plus severe PTSD from two main traumas plus grief tangled together.
I requested the completion report, which was quite short. I read some of it out. ACC has preapproved 20 more sessions, over a 3-year period, should I require it.
I am rated to have permanent impairment of a mental injury (PTSD). A doctor who assessed me last year said the bipolar disorder should have originally been included as part of the injury.
It's been a very long and challenging journey. I couldn't afford the therapy myself.
Basically just trying to manage best I can now, with a low-key part-time job, my creative hobbies, working on moderate fitness etc.
I am mainly now over at my other channel ‪@soarpurpose‬ which is more about my creative expression etc.
Will probably take me years to complete my book, Soar Purpose.
Intend to leave this channel up as a resource for now. Only really adding maintenance type stuff such as coping skills, fitness etc.
