Maybe it's cuz of the art deco style, but the exterior of this build kinda makes me think of a cinema! (way too small to be a cinema ofc, but that's the vibe I get)
It wouldn’t be too small for a cinema, it just wouldn’t be a full sized one. The cinema closest to my house is tiny. It’s a part of a restaurant and there’s only seats for like 15 people in a small room. You could fit like 6 of those in this building.
The fact that you would need three expansion packs to do that (Get to Work, Eco Lifestyle, High School Years) and that would cost $120 plus base game it's... idk what it is anymore 💀 (Although, High School wouldn't be necessary because those thrift shops are just for clothes)
As I said in a previous comment, my least favorite thing about High School Years is that the thrift store venue has a boba requirement. It makes it so much less versatile. I'd prefer if the boba stand was not tied to any venue type.

The Victorian tower with window seating built in was the first thing that came to mind when curved walls were announced. Castle turrets were a close second 💜
The ceiling being wonky because of the curved walls, I hope the devs are watching these videos from all the TH-camrs playing early access to fix these bugs before the pack comes out.
@@loyael Exactly. I'm sure they know it's an issue, decided to go ahead and release it as it's mostly functional, and will fix it in a future release. I can't remember specifics, but I know they've done this with pack release / base game updates before. I get that people get cranky about them releasing things with bugs, but, honestly, companies do it ALL THE TIME knowing they're close to being able to make it perfect, but going for the release to not delay it any further.
Imagine being a sim and going to get some boba and thrift shop peacefully, but you can't hear yourself think because the rehearsals happening upstairs sound like a stampede of elephants through the ceiling 🤣
This is genuinely one of your best builds, I *love* how much personality this shop has, and even with a sort of dance studio? That's believable! We could even pretend it's for after school ballet - a studio above a shop in town is *super* cute.
Vampires, university, and get together. Cottage living for like a village and jungle adventure probably has the best stone wallpapers for stone castles.

This build is absolutely incredible! Your creativity really shone through and your enthusiasm is infectious. This feels like the old Sims excitement and I love it.
I was not going to get this pack (High School gameplay is just not my jam) but the Art Deco build/buy stuff is sorely tempting me! We have so many houses like this where I live on the west coast of Scotland. Check out the Beresford Building (an old hotel) in Glasgow for a beautiful example of the type, I think James should give building that a try!
I was the same way then I'm seeing all the build buy, the thrifting, and the game play actually looks pretty fun. Not much of a family player but this changes this game for me
@@rachelcookie321 quite a few of the old cinemas, the Govan lyceum, the marks and Spencer at the bus station, those are all deco, but these curves could also do some great Rennie Mackintosh builds (though the windows will be lacking)

It reminds me of my work! I work in a 150 year old building in a cafe and next store is a boba tea place. Its very crisp and new looking except, you know, the floors which are just like the new floor and the walls (because its a heritage building). You could have put random platforms just inside the doors lol it would have been too real. No rounded walls but I think the art deco style would allow me to build it! I am inspired :)

This is probably the most spectacular build I've ever seen in Sims. Can't wait to put it in my game! Here in Wroclaw (Poland) we have some beautiful building in this style. They are incredible, just a little bit less colorful, i always wanted to put something like them in my game. Incredible work, James!

I love the idea of a multi purpose space rather than one combined store. The dance studio is such a good edition for cheer sims/ players that want their sims to be dancers.
This build is fantastic. It's such a clever solution to the mashing together of the bubble tea store and thrift store in lot types, and it's definitely going into my game.

I love the build! You made great use of the colors there! Most people I see stick with the very neutral choices but you weren't afraid of that orange and blue combo and it REALLY paid off!
This build looked so huge from the outside but when you filled it up it literally gave that exact walked-in-off-the-street, slightly claustrophobic vibe you'd get from a real streetside store like this!

This is so realistic... where I live, there are little suburban downtown areas built around the commuter rail lines that have multiple businesses in old buildings like this except they are usually more Victorian era than modern. I remember I went in one that had a little yarn shop and the room next door was a ballet studio!
Looks cool, that spare studio could b used as a gym, art studio, massage studio from spa day , dance club , dj space, it has many uses, so good idea James love the build
This build is so cool! It reminds me a lot of when I went to New Zealand and stayed in Napier. The art deco architecture was super cool and I really wished our schedule had allowed us to stay longer than basically just an overnight, but the couple of shops and cafes I did get to go to had a very similar vibe to this build.

I just had a thought. A sign object that we can edit the words font and color Also, may be time to move the Bigwallets into a new save. Would be really cool to see how the original townies evolve and grow with the next generations of Bigwallets

You have a lot of amazing builds but this is one of my favorites. The building itself is gorgeous and I love the mixed space. We have a lot of old interesting buildings in my area that end up being split like this.

Very nice! I don't typically download others' builds (cause building is what I love most), but if I did download this or create one similar I think I'd use the dance/cheer studio as a studio apartment & do the retail stuff for the thrift shop.
The moment you started talking about converting the lot into a retail store and playing it as a thrift store owner.....I immediately got my desire back to play TS4! I haven't played it since Cottage Living because the direction the game seemed to be going was off-putting (too many kits!) but I want to play this lot as a thrift store owner so much! Thank you, James, for this awesome lot! :) Now I get to spend the weekend figuring out my horribly broken mods folder LOL.
I love this updated version! My plan was to convert the upstairs area into a hostel space with extra beds and bathroom, it will make rags to riches a breeze and I can just focus on enjoying the gameplay!
I was thinking of turning it into a little apartment for the owners because the stores are open 24/7 so I thought it would make sense that since they’re working so much they would have their house nearby.
Love this build. Please share your workarounds in a future video once the rounded walls come out! The rounded walls limitations look like a huge headache. Watched lilsimsie struggle hard. Could definitely use some tutorials for any and all workarounds you find!
I have sworn to myself to never buy a pack early after I bought my wedding stories immediately... but I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on this!! I want to build so badly my own Highschool, a fancy thrift shop for san myshuno, a retro skating lounge with lots of curved walls and neon lights everywhere! I really love what James did with this build and it just makes my craving for this pack worse! :')
They should introduce a tool to draw out your own rooms since rooms can be so buggy and weird as it is. Like selecting a portion of your already existing build and designating it as a room. It would be especially useful for when you want an open floor plan but different walls/flooring for a different room that isn't a fully enclosed space.
I love this building. I think it looks super cool. :3 Also I think in general, a yoga studio upstairs, would have fit the theme perfectly. (Or a ballet studio, if we had that. Thanks to you, now I really wanna have ballet in the Sims 4. 🙈)

A newsreel cinema! They were big in the 20's/ early 20th century in general. Definitely could imagine this is an old newsreel sized cinema.

A Sally Beauty near me has an axe throwing place on one side and a cheer studio on the other. Fun times.

The outside build reminds me a lot of an 80s diner type, looks great!
I love how much more realistic this thrift store is! I love Gryphis and will use both yours and hers but this feels so much more real life.

This looks so awesome! Can't wait to make buildings with those curved walls.
EA is probably gonna drip feed us 1 or 2 curved windows per EP, meanwhile it's probably going to become standard for CC windows

They should introduce a tool to draw out your own rooms since rooms can be so buggy and weird as it is. Like selecting a portion of your already existing build and designating it as a room. It would be especially useful for when you want an open floor plan but different walls/flooring for a different room that isn't a fully enclosed space.

Also I think in general, a yoga studio upstairs, would have fit the theme perfectly. (Or a ballet studio, if we had that. Thanks to you, now I really wanna have ballet in the Sims 4. 🙈)
