    I know it doesn't matter in the Sims, but the idea of only having a sink in the bathroom and not the kitchen has always been horrifying to me xD I'd much rather brush my teeth and wash my hands in the kitchen sink than have to wash dishes and vegetables in the bathroom sink.

    • @opallise

      I have that in my tiny home. It is, indeed, horrible. Luckily he was able to have both.

      In my college dorm we had our own bathroom but the sink was outside the bathroom. We didn't have a communal kitchen of any sort so I had to rinse dishes in it and I clogged the sink 😅

    • @samifarrell
      @samifarrell ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had to do this when I lived with my SIL and they were renovating the granny flat I lived in. Only had a bathroom & no kitchen

    • @kiraworthington
      @kiraworthington ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The kitchen sink in my house disintegrated we didn't have the money to fix it and the dishwasher because it couldn't be attached to the kitchen sink anymore was unusable so we had a sink in the bathroom we have three bathrooms so we have plenty of sinks we had to do dishes in the bathroom sink or we wouldn't have had any. And this is probably going to freak you out but we had a pile of dishes and bathroom sink not great for washing and I in my wisdom cuz I was a kid thought I could wash them all in the tub you know I mean I scrubbed out the bathtub first. I'm waiting for the Sims to let people wash their stuff in bathtubs that'd be funny I mean you can wash the babies in the tub you can wash the dogs in the tub I think we find watch SIMS watch their laundry in the tub. Dishes might be a bit much but you know whatever works

    • @BengtBagels
      @BengtBagels ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @kiraworthington I was poor growing up.
      I- lol we never washed our dishes in the bathroom sink or the tub.
      One time our sink broke and the project manager took like 2 weeks to get someone out to fix it. No dishwasher at that place.
      So we cleaned out a rice bucket (used to buy a big thing of rice that came in food grade buckets - lasted forever) anyway so we cleaned out three rice buckets and mom taped wash, rinse pour, rinse dunk on the side. We got the water from the bathtub and mom boiled the water in a few pots. Then she carefully poured the water into the first two buckets.. she kept a pot and a pitcher of water to the side for refilling and pouring.
      she allowed the water to cool to still hot but not horrible scalding, just a temperature warmer than warm but not too hot either.
      Then we added dish soap to one, and we kids helped her in an assembly line-style system. Hand dirty dish, she washed it, passed to rinse bucket- they poured a big pitcher over the dish into an empty bucket, then the next kid dunked the dish in a separate bucket finally the last kid laid the dish on these long-ways-folded towels on the table.
      Then we dried the dishes and stacked them on another towel but covered them with another dry long-ways-folded towel.
      As all the dishes and we would all run and wash our hands again then help with drying and putting away stacks of dishes..
      Then the cycle started for any pots and pans with fresh warmed water.
      Mom boiled the water cuz the thought of using bathroom water to clean her dishes was absolutely foul to her. Lol so she boiled the fire out of that water then allowed it to cool a bit - but it caused it so no one can help me wash dishes to this day... because I like my kitchen sink water incredibly hot.
      Also I rinse with very hot water as well.
      Helps the dishes dry faster till I can get to the drying part.
      We got a dishwasher but I enjoy washing some dishes. I end up using the dishwasher if I am in a hurry or there are just too many dishes.
      Lol, I g that is my story of how my family made due when the kitchen sink and or dishwasher are mucked up.

    Tiny Living totally missed an opportunity to make a washlet with the sink integrated into the top of the toilet. ie the type you can see in many parts of Japan! That would have been amazing.

    As someone with a family camper, some of those things you think need to be “bolted down” really don’t. When we move the camper, some thing like the shoe rack are put in closets (that are built to stay closed) or even the bathroom or shower, which is fairly tiny and prevents things from flying about.
    These sort if things are built with storage in mind that would keep certain items from jostling and getting destroyed. 😊
    Edit: we even put our TVs in the cabinets and there’s a small side table like that one, where the legs unscrew from the top. But we usually just wedge it into one of the beds or between some furniture.

    • @Terahnee

    Also James: *uses tiny windows instead of big windows*

  • @mireryn9877
    @mireryn9877 ปีที่แล้ว +70

    I actually really loved those big windows at the front! I guess they didn't fit with the type of build you were going for, but they fit the prompt for all the natural light! And, wow, I loved all the light colors you used!

  • @VanesaSokleva
    @VanesaSokleva ปีที่แล้ว +59

    Hey, James, it would have been great if you kept the big windows at the back! In many tiny houses people have these big windows to open up the inner space and make it look like you are out in the nature even when you are cosy at home!

  • @marieduran6286
    @marieduran6286 ปีที่แล้ว +73

    If you had those deligato windows for the bedroom, it would be epic!! With curtains from MWS and a bed from CL or HSYs. And as for the curve, I usually use that for the bathroom, with the shower from Univ in the center. Thanks for showing me where the trailer was, now I can fix a lot I have been working on.

    I've only just realized that toilet doesn't have a lid at all?! Who wants a toilet without a lid? That's just spewing bacteria into the room every time you flush! I guess those are the benefits of being a sim, huh?
    I like it- airstream on the outside, one of those cool, newfangled prefab eco-friendly, 3d-printed (i think) tiny homes on the inside! It's a little bit funky and functional to boot lol

    • @piarateking8094
      @piarateking8094 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      its a composting toilet, doesnt flush

    • @aaly.aaly.oxenfree
      @aaly.aaly.oxenfree ปีที่แล้ว +36

      As the other person said it doesn't flush in the way a normal toilet does (more like a drop chute). However, the smell would be atrocious, which is why I prefer the one from tiny living (its said to be a composting toilet).

    • @kirbyliciouss
      @kirbyliciouss ปีที่แล้ว +11

      You just reminded me of all the people who doesn't put down the lid before flushing 🤮

    • @ap11_
      @ap11_ ปีที่แล้ว +7

      In my country here in southeast asia, toilets without lids and flushes are commonly sold. It's just cheaper so a lot of low income houses and even businesses use it. No, it's not a composting one. We use a pail and water to manually flush.

    • @groundedgaming
      @groundedgaming ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ap11_
      Yes using a pail saves water. Unless you do a big one, in that case, I would definitely flush.

  • @stephiegirl7651
    @stephiegirl7651 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    as someone who has lived in a trailer this is pretty accurate. given that the sims snaps things to a sqaure grid and cant really downsize. you can totally fit things in like this and the layout is very similar to what we had.

    Vinyl plank flooring (VPF) and Vinyl tile flooring (VTF) are the new linos. Our apartment has it in VPF and it's so nice. We never have to worry about spilling on the floor or dropping something onto it. It's so durable.
    As for the trailer "tiny home" idea... There are new trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes that are 45 feet long. None of them can be over 8 feet wide... at least here they can't be... but they can have slide-outs on then... and some have 4 or 5 slides.

    • @nfldshorty21
      @nfldshorty21 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The thing is that Lino is biodegradable and a natural material. Vinyl is plastic and can off gas in sunlight or heat.

    As somebody who's lived in a couple different mobile home parks growing up the size is actually pretty accurate! A lot of them are basically built like a really long one or two bedroom apartment. It's a big trailer, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Also some of the larger ones have one or more "glide outs", so it expands when parked so there's more room than when it's on the road. Also it's common for people who have one to have a large tent or awning on the outside of it to make an outdoor "room".
    Also it's highly usual for, when it's parked, there to be stuff that is out but would be put away during transit (it may be there for months before it's moved), so you can have as much clutter on surfaces as you want.

    This turned out cute, but sooo not what I was expected. I thought it would turn out more like a camper, but it turned out more like a full on mobile home xD

    This turned out really well! It’s kind of an old dingy looking airstream, but I see where you were headed with it. Thanks James! ❤

    This is perfect, I'm going to follow this vid step by step and make my own. Wish me luck! You make this look so easy. I wonder how much hair I'm going to pull out in frustration! 🤣

    No joke - except for the curved walls at the ends, one extra bed and bath, and the fact that you designed a single-wide instead of a double, you basically designed the trailer my maternal grandmother lived in when I was a child 🤯

    I remember my mom’s boss had a mobile home, and actually it did have a lot of wood weirdly enough… more than I would have expected….

      It’s usually like pressboard “wood” in mobile homes and the designers do tend to go crazy with its use lol
